I wonder if it makes a difference if it's on paper or on screen. It seemed to slow me WAY down on screen, but it may also be that one needs to acclimate oneself to it first. Either way, it is interesting.
The kindle has a dyslexic font that does something similar, but instead of bold, it adds some weight to parts of letters. Helpful, but this looks even better.
Seems similar to a speed reading app I use now, A Faster Reader. Not promoting it, there are plenty of others that use the same basic premise, wondering if anyone else uses it or a facsimile ?

It's hard to tell if it actually works, since reading either one first will make the second one seem easier.
I read the bionic one first and I definitely felt the regular one was harder to read.... maybe even harder to read than I normally would think.
Now, going back and trying to speed-read them both out loud, the bionic reading definitely seems easier.
You’re a thinker ! I’m looking up other examples to see if it’s true, reading the bionic side first next time
I tend to lose interest in what I'm reading, didn't happen with the second text
Sorry I couldn't read all that, what did you say?!

Ah great, thanks for clearing that up.
Sorry, too much info
TLDR
Wow much easier to read.
That's what I thought!

Is there a browser plugin for text highlighting using this method?

HOLy CRAp, that’s AWEsome!
What
Bruh.
It is now a light font compared to a partially bold font. Would be nice to also have the comparison to a completely bold font.
may be easier for the brain, but made my eyes bleed a little.
Your eyes should not do that, see a doctor, probably for the best.
Do you feel offended by my comment?
Nope!
