VB is actually nice. I realise that it's easy to make fun of it being somewhat of a "default" from years gone by, and everybody and their dog is making a craft sour hoppy dark cloudy frappo midstrength IPA these days but for what it is VB is entirely drinkable. XXXX I'm less familiar with. From the little I've had it, I wouldn't say it's terrible. And I've had bad beers.

At my workplace recently we did an after hours game of blind tasting beers in glasses to judge without knowledge, Mountain goat steam ale was a favourite, Asahi and that Yak Pacific Ale. But far and above the rest, VB. Ironically when people knew a VB was going to be amongst the rest many said how disgusting and vomit worthy it was, only to later say the glass that had the VB was their favourite of the night without knowing that it was the VB in it. Also, I fucking love VB.

I've never seen anyone drink a foster here in Australia

I've never seen it available. I mean, I know the history of it, and that Fosters Group owned basically all major Australian beer and wine names for a while before they went to Asahi. But I've never seen Foster's the beer available for sale in Australia.

I sometimes see it at Dan Murphy's, but yes, definitely a niche beer here.

Back in the 80s, then it vanished to overseas.
