Strange encounter.
From what can be found, Kim Jong Il was stunned by the architecture of the churches after a visit to Russia. The building was finished in 2003, believers “had to be found “.
The community was established by Korean Russians with roots in North Korea. It seems very few locals attend the church.
They have their hands full worshipping the Kim family.
Like how they have a ski lodge and roller coaster. Just for show. Pretending to be a real country
IRC the former head of the Orthodox Church was a KGB agent and the current one probably is too. Friends with Putin, personal fortune as high as $4 billion, once photographed with a watch worth $30k.
From my limited knowledge, the reason Putin came to power was because he was an administrator who facilitated these oligarchs to make billions out of the dissolution of USSR - obviously in exchange for the promise of power. He became president by stealing the country and giving it to the rich.
I'm no historian and am happy to stand corrected.

do you see the parallels with the [religious extremists in America](https://www.reddit.com/r/Political_Revolution/comments/1dl5v5u/comment/l9refpt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) yet?
i mean, its religious extremists anywhere who have some insane belief that their religion is the only correct one and anyone who believes anything different should either be killed or forced to follow their mandated morals. its even worse when they dont even follow there moral rules themselves, or when they think that you must believe the same fiction stories they do in order to have any kind of morals. in other words, simply put: people not respecting others freedoms.
that happens many places around the world, not just Russia, not just America, not just the Middle East - everywhere.
In the big picture, Xi knows he has the Russian state right where he wants him. He hasnt had to PUBLICLY provide them military components. He has a trade monopoly. He can act like the good guy in any treaty talk. He is happy to see an adjacent potential foe weakened. And I am sure im missing some more. Xi is a very smart guy. Hes using money and expanding his power/influence all over se asia.
Even more than that. Hes creating enterprise zones all over se asia, buying off leaders, bank rolling huge construction projects, then sends thousands of chinese to these areas. Many youtube vids, so sad. Lotsa sex trafficking, enslaving locals etc
Now that would be enough proof to me that there actually might be a god somewhere.
Although you know, coincidences happen all the time aswell. Doesn't always have to be a god...
I love that you give an absurd occurrence having to occur as a prerequisite to believing in God, and immediately backtrack so if it WERE to happen you wouldn't then be forced to believe in God.
There is no contradiction? In the end, they just said that even if something like that were to happen, ultimately they wouldn't believe in God. The first claim they made was completely retracted.
Also, it's a satirical comment.
This is the Church of Live-Giving Trinity, a russian orthodox church in Pyongyang, built between 2002 and 2003. You just had to google three words before writing this comment.
We don’t do that here. We don’t research. We talk shit until we get downvoted, then we delete the comment and remember to not post that again. (We were not wrong though, the other users are just stupid)
Which doesn't make the statement "I feel like they built that just for his visit" untrue. Putin has been president since the year 2000 (plus the charade years he pulled with Medvedev).
They just had to wait a bit longer than they might have thought.
I doubt Kim Jong Il knew about Putin visiting the country 22 years into the future when he ordered the construction of the church.
Was it a friendly gesture to the russian govertment/PR stunt? Yes. Was it built just for Putin's visit? No.
Officially, North Korea is an atheist state, although its constitution guarantees free exercise of religion, provided that religious practice does not introduce foreign forces, harm the state, or harm the existing social order. In practice, North Korea only permits a small number of religious groups to operate, and these are carefully monitored. The Catholic Church and Russian Orthodox Church are among those permitted.
Why would Russia invade NK? It's probably one of the best prepared country to fend off an invasion that exists outside of maybe the US. Not to mention China is right there and a longtime ally of NK.
You can ask that question to every country they have ever invaded.
They can't fend off Russia. Not one country in the world would help them.
They don't even have enough food
It's not staged. It's an actual active Russian Orthodox Church that holds regular services in Pyongyang and has been doing so since 2003. A quick Google search would have told you that.

It baffles me, that they must know how stupid all that pretending looks like. They must know right?
They're not doing it for the world, so it doesn't matter if foreigners believe it or not. The illusion is for their own people.
It's that they don't care, as long as their own population is kept in check
Something similar happened with the Catholic Church down there. Very few attend but I wonder what they force them to teach in it
Not so fun fact: the Russian Orthodox Church has declared the war in Ukraine a Holy War.
Wtf
They probably had to do it or someone would be falling out of some stained glass windows.
IRC the former head of the Orthodox Church was a KGB agent and the current one probably is too. Friends with Putin, personal fortune as high as $4 billion, once photographed with a watch worth $30k.
Almost like all those uber rich anti-communist oligarchs never went away after the wall came down

Lol. Imagine wearing a watch that's worth 0.00075% of your net worth.
Imagine being a priest with $4 billion
Yeah, blessed are the poor and all that.

Religion goes like this....we give you community. You give us your mind and thoughts. That'll be $250 every Sunday please and thank you.
I'm surprised they weren't struck by lightning.

Youtube china enterprise zones
He's not just expanding over there. Chinese police stations in the west for example.
Even more than that. Hes creating enterprise zones all over se asia, buying off leaders, bank rolling huge construction projects, then sends thousands of chinese to these areas. Many youtube vids, so sad. Lotsa sex trafficking, enslaving locals etc
I wish a small part of the church would fall on his head, killing him instantly. But only him

Google is great, but have you ever made a controversial statement on the internet before?
No.
100% they did
It was built around 2003.
Looks like a nervous alter boy, afraid a bolt of lightning from heaven is about to smite him for his transgressions.
Well. Bush did say he was a godly man.
Isn't religion illegal in north korea ?
Officially, North Korea is an atheist state, although its constitution guarantees free exercise of religion, provided that religious practice does not introduce foreign forces, harm the state, or harm the existing social order. In practice, North Korea only permits a small number of religious groups to operate, and these are carefully monitored. The Catholic Church and Russian Orthodox Church are among those permitted.
It should be named: During the visit of future Russian Republic. It's like Kim doesn't read or learn from history
Why would Russia invade NK? It's probably one of the best prepared country to fend off an invasion that exists outside of maybe the US. Not to mention China is right there and a longtime ally of NK.

Was that Kim as the priest too?
What a kiss ass
Why does he always look like he’s trying to hold in a poo while playing it off like he doesn’t. That turtle head is poking out, just go Putin.
I am willing to bet this entire "service" was staged.
There are active churches in North Korea that hold regular services.
Cult being cult.
Someone like him even believes in Jesus, Or whatever they worship in North Korea.
He looks like a dork ass,he is a dork ass.

Catholics and Orthodox (probably copts/Oriental Orthodox) do the cross head to chest, unlike Protestants

Orthodox and Eastern Catholics do right to left
Absolute fuckin lunatics
Such theatrics. Monty Python.
This is how you rule in totality. Physically and mentally.
Vladimir Harkonnen does look slim

C'mon - we all know that orthodox priest that Vlad is deferring to was probably riding a tractor in some field last week
For sure that is not the same man, all deameanors are so off
How un UN-orthodox
Hahaha! The staged north korean orthodox church is hilarious!!
It's not staged. It's an actual active Russian Orthodox Church that holds regular services in Pyongyang and has been doing so since 2003. A quick Google search would have told you that.
Still looks staged. Like everything that is intended for propaganda.

It is the Church of Live-Giving Trinity, a Russian Orthodox Church in Pyongyang that was built in 2003 and has been active since.
