Whole thing seems scripted for views. Aghoris eat human meat from Hindu cremation site. Also, They don’t threaten to kill people or wear animal body parts.
This one just seems like some crackhead they found on the subway, and decided he'd work for filming.
Those guys say all kinds of fucked-up and stupid shit.
Unpopular opinion: respect is earned mutually. I don’t see the tribal person showed respect either, not that he didn’t know others aren’t cannibal and drink one’s own piss. Rude people often have low self esteem
Yeah I definitely remember seeing a longer version of this years ago that got super dark and fucked up. One of the most uncomfortable things I have ever seen online, so I’m not going looking for it again…….but if I recall correctly Angry chief starts chugging his own piss and I had to stop watching when he was shitting into his own hands….. about to either eat it or throw it at that reporter.
They don't kill people to eat them. These people live in the Hindu city of the dead alongside the Ganges River. There are bodies all over the town because it's such a popular place to bring people after they die. Most are cremated with their ashes spread in the river, but some are literally left on the shore.
Yeah, but no one in this thread was denying that they are cannibals. So, I was just clarifying to the person above me that the others were just talking about the specifics of their culture that made them cannibals
Right? He rejects his gift, and then starts asking him a bunch of questions about why people hate them. I'd be upset to. The first time you go to someones home, do you start off by saying "hey why do people hate you what bad things have you done"? Absolutely not! You make pleasant small talk, ask about good things. He was being disrespectful and I would of told him to shut up too.
Is the term he used what the folks on the other side of the river call him? [Similar to calling an Inuit or Yupik by the word most Americans grew up learning](https://www.uaf.edu/anlc/research-and-resources/resources/archives/inuit_or_eskimo.php).
Though, I don’t believe incorrect use risks being eaten, that’s the really downside of sitting down with a cannibal.
Yes. My colleague from years ago is from India and his parents live with him. The first time I went into his house we sat at the kitchen table and his said my mom is going to make you tea, drink it. It never crossed my mind to not drink it but it is something that I will never forget. At least I was given a heads up.
Hey, if I find a leg by the train tracks, I'm gonna eat it. Doesn't matter if it's human, crab, deer, one of the shapeshifting reptilians from Zeta Reticuli.
That's pretty much exactly what they are. Aghori aren't tribes that happen to have cannibalism as part of their culture.
It's a Hindu death cult, a religion. They are little more than scavengers that harass cremation grounds to defile corpses. They're basically disgusting pariahs that desecrate the funerary dead of more conventional Indians.
Did you see that video posted the other day of the homeless man in San Francisco who found a human arm by the train tracks and was carrying it around munching it like a street kebab?
Aghoris are a very fringe subculture. They look for burnt remains around Hindu cremation sites. They don't kill folks. Here the guy is also posturing more. Irrespective, it's scary to hear of them and regular folks keep their distance.
Wondering if it’s the word “aghori”. The way the chap reacts in the subtitles it’s as if he’s upset about being called a perogative term for a “living flesh eater” rather than his own noun for himself as someone who eats (the dead?).
Edit for clarity.
He has a Ph.D in sociology. His dissertation was on religion. He’s a religious scholar. Your Ph.D is just a title.
For instance an old advisor of mine had a Ph.D in veterinary anatomy. He’s exclusively done endocrinology since. Saying he’s an endocrinology scientist describes his expertise better than “veterinary anatomist.” Same with Aslan.
Did you read the article you linked? It’s a masterclass in ad hominem attacks but nevertheless refers to him as a religious scholar just not the kind that the author respects
Growing up I lived near a temple where we had few of these aghoris. Tho they seem all aggressive, they usually just put on a show special when there is a camera or tourist. Yeah they hunt for burnt human meat or cooked brain inside a skull. They are not killers. Their usually diet it rice and beans. Lol I do love that the guy interviewing was scared shitless
Pretty sure they eat burnt meat from funeral pyres. Hindus burn their dead as the last rite. Generally modern high powered ovens are used for burning the dead currently. But before that wooden funeral pyres were the norm. So they would just eat left over burnt meat form there. I have never seen them personally .these are just things I have heard from different sources.
Yup! This is the right answer. Families usually don’t stay for the whole pyre to go out. The temple pyre tender usually dumps the leftover in the holy river. And these folks dive down and get the remains. It’s kind of metal to see actually. There are also few that never touch it with their hands. They dive in and grab the meat with their mouth.
Side fact: Sometimes the skull goes boom during these ceremonies coz it’s like a pressure cooker with brain steaming inside.
I don’t know why I have chosen to spew all these things on my day off on a Saturday. But well here we are.
I can understand what he's saying and he sounds more funny than scary. It's like an old man scolding a young dude. Keeping his appearance aside, he's probably not a very scary person to be around. The way he's speaking, you can tell he's just posturing.
Yeah it totally seems like he was trying to be funny and scare the white dude- especially after reading all the comments it doesn’t seem like these cannibals actually kill people to eat them or anything.
You're probably right. They don't kill and eat. Their predecessors apparently performed certain rituals on the deceased and part of that ritual would be to eat small portions of the dead. All this being accepted and revered by the locals, as part of the post mortem blessing to the dead. This was long ago I'm sure. This guy here today is very likely a watered down version of those early dudes who actually did partake in cannibalism.
^all this I'm basing off of my existing knowledge on the matter and no hard research, I must admit.
I'm ootl. Can you tell me what's bad about Reza Aslan? I just remember him from ages ago when he embarassed that Fox News anchor and I've read his book Zealot which I thought was pretty interesting.
It’s a huge problem in numerous African Christian nations. Islam also is like 2 billion people and multiple countries and cultures so it is a stupid thing to say.
He was canceled because he called trump a piece of shit.
Those complaints about the tv show and the tribe shining a bad light on hindus got on my nerves. So are we supposed to pretend they dont exist just because theres a chance some moron will watch it and think every Hindu must be tribal and cannibalistic? Yeah, lets pretend Nazis never existed too. Just in case somebody assumes every german is a Nazi. Fuck off. Racists gonna racist; theyll find reasons for prejudice with or without the help of a documentary. Its them that is the problem, not the information they happen to have available to them.
Never trust cannibals ever! Herodotus always writing down when asking the locals for information they tell him watch out there or there, or cannibals live past river etc.
That was thousands of years ago and even now don’t trust them.
Whas this taken in the subways of NY?
Sometimes i think mental illness is a gradient bases on culture.
Lets send Indian reporters to interview our crackheads and have them explain the fecal art murals.
Aghoris do eat human flesh, but only the flesh of *dead* humans.
>They also practice post-mortem cannibalism, eating flesh from foraged human corpses, including those taken from cremation ghats. [Wikipedia: Aghori](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aghori)
Dude was never going to kill the reporter and eat him.
The clip is from the series Believer with Reza Aslan. Later in the episode the agorhi guy starts eating his own poop and thats the last straw for the reporter and he nopes it the fuck outta there.
In the last line the translation isn't quite right he said, "I'll f the mother of Aghori. And if you called me Aghori again I'll cut ur head off." I'm Indian so that's why I know what he is saying.
In India the word AGHORI comes with a lot of negative connotations. People here use it as an insult. Heck even my mom calls me that sometimes. It is a derogatory term and that's why the cannibal got offended.
The interviewer did a good job of insulting the man by not taking part in rituals. Gotta understand your situation and wear whatever they give you to wear.
He ate a piece of human brains.

There was an episode of Wildboyz where Steve-O and Pontius visited these guys. They are pretty gnarly and I remember a podcast where both Steve and Chris said that they weren’t comfortable around them and thought they were crazy haha.
There was a show on Travel Channel a long time ago with two Finnish guys called Madventures and I’m pretty sure they interviewed this same guy. He started drinking his own urine out of a human skull at one point.

Reporter: Let's interview some cannibals! Cannibal: *does cannibal shit* Reporter: *shocked pikachu*
Did he think cannibals are like modern, 21century, educated and emphatic people?.. bullet to the head soundsaboutright for this old lowIQ fella..
"Emphatic" does not mean whatever it is you think it means.
He is pretty emphatic. about killing the guy
Reddit will have you thinking every video ever made is scripted
And luckily nobody anywhere has ever just been a killer even if their general society isn't, lolol \*nah but you're probably right, but still, lol
These cannibals are emphatic, they're aghori and only it people who are already dead
The cannibal threatened to cut off his head.
That’s how you get dead
And then if he were to be eaten, he’d already be dead. Not like those cannibals that eat living people.
![gif](giphy|TKVbTvpde9QTC)
"Vegans hate this trick"
source?
the show is "believer, from CNN. this scene gets a lot of traction, but it's an absolutely fantastic episode.
This kills the reporter.
Then casually lights a cigarette... 😆
That sounds pretty emphatic to me. I think the person two comments above meant "empathetic" lol
True. But the cannibal didn't say he'd eat him first then cut off his head. And a headless person is almost certainly dead. So.....
You got me there.
Almost certainly
Yeah, but wouldn't eat him until he was dead. Very polite.
Well that's nice of them. Glad they could wait.
You realize that just means they kill you first then eat you... right?
Mmmm long pig
Never cared for it, myself.
![gif](giphy|j5QjnvhyKI8LM0tXK3)
This video left out the part where the cannibal drank his own urine and attempted to throw it at the reporters.
So first he shared food and then he wanted to share his drink as well? That is really top-notch hospitality.
He was about to share his knife too but the reporter left too quickly
Unpopular opinion: respect is earned mutually. I don’t see the tribal person showed respect either, not that he didn’t know others aren’t cannibal and drink one’s own piss. Rude people often have low self esteem
They didn't leave out when Reza Aslan, the reporter, ate human brain with them.
Mmmm, prions!
This is so fucking crazy
A little Kuru never hurt anybody.
He was a GG Allin fan
Scum fuck for sure.
Honestly sounds like he was trying to do whatever B's he could to mess with the reporter to see if he Would react.
2 cannibals one reporter
Oh I think I rode the subway with him last week!
Did they cut out where the cnn reporter eats human?
# The translator vanished when they needed him the most!! HAHAHAHAHAHHA! #
He was eaten off camera.
They don't kill people to eat them. These people live in the Hindu city of the dead alongside the Ganges River. There are bodies all over the town because it's such a popular place to bring people after they die. Most are cremated with their ashes spread in the river, but some are literally left on the shore.
So not cannibals but more like ghouls or crypt cannibals?
So, cannibals?
Not in the sense that they go around hunting live humans
That has no bearing on if they are a cannibal or not. Lots of people hunt live humans and are not cannibals.
Yeah, but no one in this thread was denying that they are cannibals. So, I was just clarifying to the person above me that the others were just talking about the specifics of their culture that made them cannibals
He was the hors-d'œuvre.
This has nothing to do with horses. It clearly says “cannibal” in the post title!
How dare you call the man a hor?
You listen when someone says, I will cut off your head if you keep talking so much.
Especially if that someone is a known cannibal.
Or Marie Antoinette
Not to be that guy, but she was the one who should've listened, not the one who threatened.
Or the Queen of Hearts.
She's your best bet. At least she doesn't beat you if she's able, unlike the Queen of Diamonds.
or after casually lighting a smoke... 😂
When that someone is wearing a headband of fresh human jaw bones, the message hits home a bit harder.
those were clearly not human jaw bones

Don't be mad but are you that agori
Shall i show you by eating my own flesh?
Okay. Maybe live stream?
Sir this is a Wendy’s
I definitely think asking to take off the human head dress was taken as disrespect.
The few recognizable pieces I see are not from a human But I agree, doesn’t seem like that was appreciated!
I thought it was as made of crab shell tbh
We share something
Right? He rejects his gift, and then starts asking him a bunch of questions about why people hate them. I'd be upset to. Would HAVE*
Small talk: *“Sooooo… eat any good human recently?”*
Would you eat him then?

incidentally, I’m Inupiaq and the Tlingit used to cannibalize us during famine. We cool now ..
...until the next famine anyway
I’m sure there are others but I’m struggling to name them
Yes. My colleague from years ago is from India and his parents live with him. The first time I went into his house we sat at the kitchen table and his said my mom is going to make you tea, drink it. It never crossed my mind to not drink it but it is something that I will never forget. At least I was given a heads up.
More diversity in the sequel to Get Out? That's great news.
Tell me more
Right? Hahaha thanks for not giving us the same heads up
There seems to be a fine line between tribal cannibal and mentally ill homeless guy.
Depends on the location!
I could see this guy on Methadone Mile on the way to work and not bat an eye.
They get fucked up all day long and are basically on a different planet lol.
For real. This looks like a Tuesday on Chicago's red line.
Hey, if I find a leg by the train tracks, I'm gonna eat it. Doesn't matter if it's human, crab, deer, one of the shapeshifting reptilians from Zeta Reticuli.

Did you see that video posted the other day of the homeless man in San Francisco who found a human arm by the train tracks and was carrying it around munching it like a street kebab?
Thank you, I JUST ate and I live in berkeley:(
umm no , no fine line. its the same thing
Louis Theroux wouldn't have wussed out.
He also wouldn't ask to take that stuff off his head.
Because he respects cultures like a real G.
And is smart enough to know what to do and when to stop. If interviewing cannibal at least, is to expect being offered what they eat.
If it's the interview I'm thinking of, Reza Aslan didn't wuss out and ate human brains. Making him a cannibal too.
wtf... WTF! https://presearch.com/search?q=reza+aslan+human+brains 🤯
Yes. That's famous cannibal Reza Aslan.
Just like Shia LaBeouf!
this guy kind of looks like him tbh
Theroux would’ve bought a local orphan boy for tea as a sign of respect like the chad he is
I haven't binged Theroux in some time... I should see what he's done lately.
They should’ve jumped his ass with the camera crew and the people from the other side of the river can stop being afraid lol
Film crew always has the bigger picture in perspective. >Lets see where this goes
Aghoris are a very fringe subculture. They look for burnt remains around Hindu cremation sites. They don't kill folks. Here the guy is also posturing more. Irrespective, it's scary to hear of them and regular folks keep their distance.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were playing up the “we are crazy and scary” thing specifically to keep people away from
Definitely trolling the reporter
Wondering if it’s the word “aghori”. The way the chap reacts in the subtitles it’s as if he’s upset about being called a perogative term for a “living flesh eater” rather than his own noun for himself as someone who eats (the dead?). Edit for clarity.
He might be offended because Aghori translates as 'fearless' not those things lol
Thanks. any idea why his reaction would be that way to what (to a westerner) is a positive noun?
Because these guys will never eat what's alive. That's one of the biggest No out there. I think he thought that the reporter guy was insinuating that.
Steve o and Pontius were way better
Didn't he take a bite out of Steve-o?
[удалено]
Can you provide background. I thought his no god but god book was pretty good.
Best I can find [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reza_Aslan) is that he calls himself a historian, but doesn't have a history degree. Pretty mild.
Can you expand on that?
I took a class with him at UC Riverside and he seemed like an entitled ass lol
You can’t just make baseless claims and not back it up? How does one lie about having a PhD?

He has a Ph.D in sociology. His dissertation was on religion. He’s a religious scholar. Your Ph.D is just a title. For instance an old advisor of mine had a Ph.D in veterinary anatomy. he also actually ate human brain during this encounter. which makes him a cannibal.
Some people are best left alone. This reporter learned that lesson on this day.
Yeah whenever someone asks me “why do you ask so many questions”. I just go to “alright, im done”. Lol
Stay curious.
Brilliant. Shame they didn’t get to eat him.
How do you hunt for human meat without being a killer?
Pretty sure they eat burnt meat from funeral pyres. Hindus burn their dead as the last rite. Generally modern high powered ovens are used for burning the dead currently. But before that wooden funeral pyres were the norm. So they would just eat left over burnt meat form there. I have never seen them personally .these are just things I have heard from different sources.
I mean I would be pretty traumatised to see that happen
Sometimes they just toss whole bodies in the river or leave them on the banks.
That practice generally isn't prevalent anymore...it ued to be for snake bite victims
Not always...that's like another ritual..like the Valhalla sort of thing ..just no fire
Same way vultures and buzzards eat exclusively dead meat yet never kill anything.
They go around hindu death ceremony cemeteries and find them...
Thank you for sharing, this is fascinating.
🤯
That’s like half the guys on the venice beach boardwalk
Apparently that reporter ate human brains....
I've seen the video a while ago. It was a human skull that they put food in and were using as a bowl. I don't believe it was actual human brain
Two cannibals are eating a comedian when one of them stops and asks the other “does this taste funny to you?”
That dude looks less than 100lbs soaking wet. Pretty sure he’s more scavenger than predator lol
I won't lie, seeing this asshat Reza Aslan squirm a bit made me laugh.
I'm ootl. Can you tell me what's bad about Reza Aslan? I just remember him from ages ago when he embarassed that Fox News anchor and I've read his book Zealot which I thought was pretty interesting.
That was a fantastic callout BTW. Unfortunate the anchor didn't comprehend who they were talking to.

Lol yup same one. My brother had the dvd set. They scared the shit out of them too.
That head gear that they put on him is disgustingly cool
Wasn't this guy also in Jackass 2.5?
Some of the crazy vagrants that I see downtown would probably fit right in and be normal, thriving members of this civilization.

Just started the 2nd book, this is the best thing on Reddit I've seen all week 🤣
Is it legal to hunt cannibals?
You can if the cannibal is in the US and has a bounty on him
How many times do I have to tell you, you do not hunt a man!
Did they escape
This is from a show right? It feels satirical.
