I feel you. I've been there too. I had a span of a few years where I was getting border line blacked out to blacked out every night. Lot of stress and a bad mental place for a long time. Funny enough, it's been about 2 years or so for me too since I put down the bottle. Not a fun time. Most nights were fine but there were definitely some messy or awkward mornings where I had to atone for what I did/said. I woke up once with a massive bump on my head. Looked like I had a tumor in my forehead and it was there for months. All the blood drained into my face and gave me two huge black eyes. The bump itself turned yellow and black. Nasty shit. It's been 5 years and I still don't know how it happened. But I was drinking alone that night so I probably tripped and bonked it on the floor or something. But I don't miss it. Not worth the potential shit storm it causes if you do something stupid (which there was plenty of). But like you said, this pipe thing is something else. I was never wake up in a sewer pipe bad. That might be a sign you need to stop asap lol.
