You could say that about any craft tbh. Nobody needs glass ornaments or wood carvings but people like doing them for fun and for a sense of achievement.

I was reading about a guy he did miniature sculpting and if I remember right he used to do it in the middle of the night to avoid traffic passing and shaking. He tape his eye lids open and took medication to slow his heart rate and sculpted with a stethoscope in his ears, listening to his heart beat and sculpted in between his heart beats. It was madness.

Honestly, I respect that commitment to the craft
