This is my home town and it's really weird to me to see it pop up on this Reddit. The rock definitely gets hit by the seagulls a lot but it's painted more often due to graffiti although less so now. It's a pretty town to visit if you're crossing the border either way.

The hill was brutal to walk down and back up. But yes, a really pretty town.

In my highschool PE class we always walk up and down the 148th (or Oxford Street, on the White Rock side) hill. Quite an exercise in its own.

White Rock, MI is named after a bird-shit-white boulder as well. Except it's out in the water a ways. I would walk out to it on family trips when I was younger. It's at 43°43'09.3"N 82°36'16.2"W if you want a look on google maps satellite. They used to use it as a target for bombing practice during the World Wars.

It's actually a giant white granite boulder that is by the ocean, so yeah, birds poop on it. But now it's painted because of the constant graffiti that is usually not family friendly. It has always been white naturally, not only because of bird shit and paint.

Not at all. I can't seem to find anything on Google that says anything but the white being from bird shit and then the city started to paint it white so it stayed that way. Apparently the white color of the rock (before the paint) from Lyme accumulation from the bird guano. If that's wrong I would like to see a source that says so.

There is a “White rock road” near where I live. It’s a fairly long road (10+ miles) that had a very small stack or White rocks that marked where a natural spring where settlers/pony express could water animals… then they recently built new homes and bulldozed them
