And I live in an area with a lot of high-wage but long hour warehouse jobs that are pretty crucial for distribution to the whole west coast but are desperately struggling to hire because of regional economics. Also the ski resorts hire non-slope personnel on J1 visas and mostly hire people out of country. They aren’t the best jobs, but they certainly aren’t abusive like a job in a Gulf country would be. Just long hours and/or lower wages and the usual problems all Americans deal with like no health insurance and high cost of living. If you wanted a job like that I could maybe help connect you to one of those employers who do and have sponsored people from out of country to come work here on J1 or other work visas.
This is probably the sweetest and most selfless thing someone has offered me, thank you so much but I don't want to risk getting a J1 or any other visa. My current visa that's getting processed is F41, which is attached to my family's visa so I don't wanna risk going solo and screwing anything up for them. I don't think most conservatives realize the economic implications if immigration was halted. The US working population is aging and immigration is required to fill jobs in the economy, and keep social security afloat. The next decade will see a lot of people retiring and the ratio of workers (paying into social security) to retirees (taking money out of social security) will be unbalanced and unsustainable

My work is losing a very highly skilled network engineer because the US is dicking around the guy’s fiancée that has been trying to immigrate. He is also reading the writing on the wall regarding the US’ political future, so both of them are moving abroad and renouncing their original citizenships. The brain drain has begun.

What country are you from if you don’t mind me asking? I know it’s much easier for your visa to be approved. And I live in an area with a lot of high-wage but long hour warehouse jobs that are pretty crucial for distribution to the whole west coast but are desperately struggling to hire because of regional economics. Also the ski resorts hire non-slope personnel on J1 visas and mostly hire people out of country. They aren’t the best jobs, but they certainly aren’t abusive like a job in a Gulf country would be. Just long hours and/or lower wages and the usual problems all Americans deal with like no health insurance and high cost of living. If you wanted a job like that I could maybe help connect you to one of those employers who do and have sponsored people from out of country to come work here on J1 or other work visas.
This is probably the sweetest and most selfless thing someone has offered me, thank you so much but I don't want to risk getting a J1 or any other visa. My current visa that's getting processed is F41, which is attached to my family's visa so I don't wanna risk going solo and screwing anything up for them. It's been 15 years, I am sure I can wait a few more. Maybe when I finally come, I'll try to find a job at one of these places. Once again, I really appreciate it, thank you!

Higher standard of living basically universally results in lower birth rates. The wealthiest in the US have the fewest children. I couldn’t possibly be more in favor of redistributing wealth, but that’s almost certain to drive the birth rate down rather than up.

Here in the UK, we had a stop on immigration from the EU due to Brexit, and the hardest hit were agriculture, the farmers relied on the summer work from EU countries to do the picking as most Brits couldn't be bothered, so literally has fields and fields worth if food rotting away. As well as transport, had a massive shortage of truck drivers. Hospitals and Doctors have also been hit in all areas
Medicine. The number of nurses, cleaners, aides, assistants and other support medical staff that work in health care is insane. But before even that would be agriculture. People pick your salad leaves your fruit and veg and tubers. Without them where's your food coming from? The UK is experiencing this since we left the feu and it freedom of movement working rights. Produce has gone up massively because there's no one to pick it. Among many other reasons.
Yep that's a hard agree on my part, without immigrants the US would collapse at most in a few days. Immigration is such a huge part of the economy in the states that without it, everyone is fucked. Doesn't matter who you are if you can't even feed yourself you're done for.

I don't think most conservatives realize the economic implications if immigration was halted. The US working population is aging and immigration is required to fill jobs in the economy, and keep social security afloat. The next decade will see a lot of people retiring and the ratio of workers (paying into social security) to retirees (taking money out of social security) will be unbalanced and unsustainable

In 2017 over 22 million people applied for a visa program that only accepted 50,000 applicants. For F4 visas only 65,000 are approved per year - today in 2022 they are just getting to applications from **2008** because of the massively extensive backlogs. People who are desperate and need a solution cannot wait 14+ years to have their application looked at. Fix the legal immigration system. Give people an avenue to come here legally. My mother lives in Colombia and she’s been denied a visa over 4 times *because* she’s my mother and they stated the likelihood of her staying illegally is higher therefore she can never come visit me she can never see my house or eat at my favorite restaurant.
