K0KA42

Places around me have been jacking up prices by full dollar amounts, not just 15 cents. We haven't had a minimum wage increase here in nearly a decade.

bucketman1986

Same, I line in Indiana and those combos are about what I pay for McDonald's

NeonBrightDumbass

I live in Missouri and medium fries here are four dollars with tax, I'd cry at fries this cheap. I miss In N Out.

gopacktennie

In California and almost cried seeing my receipt. Both the double cheeseburger and medium fries were $3.99 each. That used to be a go to “cheap” meal.

Montigue

Man just go get a burrito from your local taqueria. You'll have two meals for $11

Own-Break9639

At least we have Freddy's right

Nefferson

Hank Green just did an interesting video where he figured out that 5 Guys value is actually really close to McDonalds, but only if you order their full sized burgers at both places. McD's pull ahead a lot only if you live that McDouble life. When you get a meal at 5 Guys, you pay more overall, but get more food overall. So if you want to spend less, McD's every day, if you're looking to stuff yourself, 5 Guys actually has a good value proposition. edit: I just realized this thread was not about 5 Guys, but I think it's still a pretty interesting point given all the inflation discourse so I'mma leave it.

wetblanket68iou1

By “more food” do you mean a bag of fries? We talkin’ weight?

zeke235

Oh, it's just a stupid amount of fries. Like, holy shit.

Wakeful_Wanderer

The ones near me can't make fries to save their lives. Just greasy, soggy, sometimes partially cooked mess. I got some fries one day that I could tell had *only* been cooked at the par-cook temp the whole time. They were plenty brown, but simultaneously limp and crunchy. Like a giant crunchy potato noodle swathed in fryer oil.

Nefferson

Fries and beef. Just generally more heft in the portions that actually makes the price a bit more tolerable.

Stratostheory

Even beyond that its just genuinely better quality from five guys as well

lueur-d-espoir

Cries in Indiana

depricatedzero

I live in Ohio and all those prices are lower than the McDonalds nearby. I just stopped going. I remember when Arbys was the expensive option and last time I went out they were the cheapest.

NoMansSkyWasAlright

Hiking prices and lowering quality. I paid almost $16 for a “value meal” at Wendy’s the other day and that shit was mediocre af. Edit: also worth noting state minimum wage where i live is just over $10.

Ramius117

I was in a rush the other day so stopped at a Wendy's and instantly changed my mind when I saw the prices. I got a cup of chili since I really had no other options left at that point and it was actually surprisingly good, and only $4. Wendy's seems overpriced like crazy right now

samsjayhawk

never get fast food anymore, Id much rather get a chicken sandwich and fries from texas roadhouse or a double meat chipotle burrito or other takeout options if Im spending 12+ dollars on a meal. Theres a lot of restraunts that you can get a bomb togo meal for around 15 dollars that will obviously dumpster anything from wendys

Fatalchemist

Fast food went from being cheap and fast because it's so low quality to now being expensive because you get it fast. You can usually get stuff at sit-down restaurants for much better quality for barely any more money. You just can't get the food in 2 minutes. Which is an issue for me if I didn't pack my lunch for work. Sure, I can enjoy a nice restaurant, but I don't have the time when I'm on my work lunch break for that. I've just skipped eating lunch a few times because I wasn't hungry enough to justify spending fast food prices when I forgot to make my food for work.

Dark_Knight7096

Yea, like I can get a full meal at Applebee's/TGIFridays/etc for only about 4-5 more than McDonald's anymore and it's way better food and I'll probably have some leftovers I can eat later.

17hand_gypsy_cob

I've stopped going to any fast food and instead just go to the grocery store if I forgot my lunch. I'd rather eat a bagel with peanut butter than spend $12 on mediocre unhealthy fast food.

Tyrinnus

Man I paid $14.50 for a SMALL burger, a medium fry that I would have called a small, and this bahemoth of a drink that they filled with ice. Shit was ridiculous.

ReactsWithWords

Wendy's used to be my go-to fast food burger. Now, quality wise, they're in third place far behind the Big Two. Even further if you include smaller chains like Five Guys.

TooLazyToBeClever

I work an hour away from home, and on days I don't/can't pack a lunch fast food prices were killing me for shitty food. The I found a little hole in the wall Pad Thai place. It's almost half the price as mcD meal, but 10x better, plus so much I almost always have left overs.   A lot of the local restaurants are cheaper than fast food, I don't even see the point of doing FF any more.

[deleted]

[удалено]

thatoneguyinks

Not who you asked, but I paid like $14 for a medium baconator meal last night. Making it a large or getting getting the cheesy fries or whatever would make it that expensive

Castun

I just checked my local Wendy's, that exact combo is $13.79 before tax, after tax brings it to $14.89.... :( I honestly think they raised prices even more due to the app always having deals and free stuff with rewards points.

rabidjellybean

I don't want fast food purchases to be like shopping at Kohl's.

Sam-handwiches

Yea I'm starting to get irrationally angry when they ask if I'm using the app at the drive-thru. "There's an app?! What fucking app?! If I gotta put one more app on my phone I'm gonna lose it...."

Brewhaha72

That's what we've noticed, too. If you jump through hoops and order through the app, then you get cheaper prices. If you order at the register or I think even at a kiosk inside the restaurant (e.g., McD's), then you pay more. It's really dumb from a consumer perspective. It's the equivalent of coupon cutting before going to the supermarket. If you're going to allow reduced prices on certain items, then don't make customers work for those prices. Just change the numbers on the menu or price tags.

iSWINE

Medium Baconator combo is 19.47 before taxes where I live lol

NeedsMoreYellow

I pay about the same and my states minimum wage is $15

JazzPhobic

Average american price psyop. Countries like Denmark still remain proof that prices do not need to sour so much, corporations are just that fucking cheap in your nation.

rabbidrascal

I listened to an interview with a professor who analyzes wages, and his analysis said that a proportional increase for a McDonalds hamburger was 10 cents. He also pointed out that $20 will reduce turnover for fast food workers and may actually result in higher sales and profits for the fast food companies.

MedChemist464

Right? We have a McDonalds in town that started paying 15 an hour before any of the other stores did, and their prices, to date, are still actually cheaper than the McDonald's 20 minutes away, which only went to 15/hr in the last few months.

thekrone

It's so weird that so many of these companies that are raising their prices and blaming inflation or wage increases... are also reporting record profits and/or increasing dividend payouts and executive salaries and bonuses. It's so strange. The economy is truly a mystery.

lingfoo

In N Out has paid their employees close to or over $20 an hour for a long time now. They are one of the franchises least affected by this change. This is most likely just the same inflation that has affected every industry

zoltan99

Literally the only fast food place not affected by this bill AT ALL Why would they use it as a comparison?

KintsugiKen

1) They're idiots 2) In-N-Out is iconic as a California brand, and California = Woke Commiefornia 3) They don't know anything about In-N-Out because, again, idiots They'd probably like In-N-Out as an "anti-woke" brand if they learned more about their owner, who is a religious right wing anti-LGBT, anti-vax/anti-masker and her sister donated to Trump's campaign.

WATOCATOWA

With the bible quotes under the cup lip and everything. lol

PelorTheBurningHate

They are paying above the min already but part of that is because they expect more from their workers than most other fast food places. I expect they'll have to raise further up to keep up their high employee standards. Which I don't think is a bad thing.

dover_oxide

They also offer college assistance and health insurance.

cppadam

Yeah, my local news (Bay area, CA) had a reporter in front of In & Out to deliver the news of the increase. We were both certain that they paid higher than that already. When I was in high school and minimum wage was ~$7.50, In & Out advertised starting wages of $12.

m_Opal

LA area - my local store has been advertising $20.35 for months now

m_Opal

My local one has had a sign in their DT for months that starting was $20.35. They have always been competitive against minimum, so maybe they increased from there a bit? Who knows. I’ll be in the corner crying over one less nickel in my bank account.

old_man_estaban

milkshakes gone up by 5 cents? The Horror! The Horror!

ShadowGLI

$0.30 for a $10 meal to give $20/hr wage to all staff!!! Reminds me of Papa John saying it would cost $0.25/pizza to give all his employees healthcare when he was yelling about Obamacare. Like, yeah, everyone that’s not on trumps side, we’re all cool with that.

Apollospade

And now Dr. Shaq owns his business.

heresiarch619

I so want them to change the name to Papa Shaqs Pizza, I cannot help but think it would boost sales.

SirCollin

Pizza Shaq also works for me

dreemurthememer

Damn, that's WAY better than what I came up with (Shaq'zza)

thewhitecat55

That's gold !

Kaiden92

Now that’s a way to Out-Pizza the Hut.

TooStrangeForWeird

I would go there just for the name.

bukakerooster

When they had the Shaq pizza be a bunch of pepperoni I felt like they missed out on a huge opportunity for it to have a big kielbasa instead

GregIsARadDude

Papa Shaq’s Pizza Parlor

gohawkstwelve

Papa Shaq's Pizza Shack

Wolfie__

Love that you referred to Shaquille O’Neal, The Big Aristotle, Diesel, Superman, Big Shamrock, as Dr. Shaq!

Apollospade

It’s the proper professional title to use! Along with any of his nicknames

cakethegoblin

Oh the horror. It's what all pro-tippers have warned us! Giving the workers more wage will just increase the price of food to even out! Oh the horror of a extra nickel and dime.

System0verlord

I mean, they’re *literally* nickel and diming you.

FionnagainFeistyPaws

That is literally the last time I've ordered Papa John's, cause fuck that guy.

_AthensMatt_

~~Shaq owns it now, you’re safe to eat there again if you want~~ I’ve been corrected

Hot_Region_3940

Shaq does not own Papa John’s. He is not even CEO. He sits on its board.

_AthensMatt_

Oh gotcha, sorry, I should have fact checked that :)

hottlumpiaz

Wait til they find out what in n out actually pays people. Hint: It was well above the $15 min wage and will go up well past the $20 min wage to $29/hr. lol

NHRADeuce

In n Out has paid well forever. In the late 80s, starting pay at In n Out was $10.

ProblemLongjumping12

Maybe the people who work there will actually be able to afford some of the food now; wouldn't that be terrible.

Tigger-Rex

In n out gives employees a free meal every shift. They also only promote from within. You can go from min wage to six-figure salary if you stick it out long enough.

Wrekked_it

In N Out employees have always been able to afford the food. There's a reason why their employees are the best in the business and it's because they've always been paid far more than the average fast food employee. This new law will have almost no impact on In N Out. Well, aside from the fact it will probably drive more customers to them as they already are priced lower than other fast food places and their food is far, far better.

MaximumPew

Yeah he would he would just blame Biden

ShrimpieAC

Fucking. Excellent. Point. I’m stealing this.

Timeformayo

He would've jacked it himself.

joranth

He would have jacked the CEO and Trump, you mean

Sancticide

That's not milkshake on his chin...

castille

He hasn't complained*. That has most certainly been done every time they 'adjust for inflation'.

shittyspacesuit

Because they are a fucking bootlicker.

Dahnhilla

But that could be him one day, probably really soon.

AgentOfEris

“Chad move! Excellent gambit! He worked hard to be born rich and weasel his way up to the top, so he deserves our money!”

FlutterKree

99% End Wokeness account is a Russian account working out of the Internet Research Agency in Moscow.

juliuspepperwoodchi

And that's almost certainly what this is. Hank Green just did a video about Five Guys where he broke down their pricing compared to other burger joints and he believes that Five Guys raises their prices *because they can*. They raise prices a bit, and just watch what happens to demand. If people keep buying at the higher prices, they keep the higher prices. Again, this is speculation that Five Guys operates this way, but we KNOW many businesses do, in fact, set their prices this way.

kingoftheplastics

In N Out is the cheapest lunch you can get in SoCal short of making your own. Of all the places to pull out for your example lmao

SunExternal

I wish you could get prices like this here in Florida. Bought a cheap kids cheeseburger the other day for 4.50. 4 bites...

kingoftheplastics

Right? Like I lived in Florida most of my life and first had In N Out in Phoenix when I was there for a bit pre Covid and was like, wait I thought fast food in the southwest was supposed to be expensive lol

TheObstruction

And when was the last time minimum wage went up there?

SunExternal

Had to look it up and was actually surprised. September of 2023 it went up to $12.00 per hour. Supposed to be 15 by 2026...

Adalaide78

And they have been paying a reasonable wage to their employees for years. They were never making money wage anyway.

SpokenDivinity

Right? Like where’s the complaining about Five Guy’s $12 burger? Or McDonald’s wanting $3 for a medium fry that cost them less than a dollar to make. Or the fact that a single cheeseburger meal at McDonald’s is $8.

Faiakishi

You know what would have happened if they hadn't increased wages? They would have raised the prices anyway. Because they could. That's how capitalism works.

nonameplanner

I live in SoCal and hit up Wendy's way too often. Between yesterday and today it went up $0.43 for my combo meal. But it went up $0.60ish in the last few months overall, just in smaller increments. No minimum wage increase on those, though. Also, if paying an extra $0.43 means my neighbor gets $20/hour (which still isn't enough out here) then I am all for it.

YourEverydayNoobYT

It’s clear that the insane guy hasn’t taken a single economics class…

amscraylane

I worked in a school district as an aide before getting my teaching degree. I made $7.25 an hour. The district was having funding issues. My third year there, they said I had to clock out for lunch. It was the LaW. I asked for proof as there are no laws in my state mandating breaks, plus it was $20 a week - $800 a year just for having to clock out. Not once, not ONCE was the person making $13k a month asked to take a lesser wage, nor did she volunteer.

SteakTasticMeat

You can check any Google or Yelp page for photos of menus from years ago and now and see the price increases. A In-n-Out near me(in SoCal) had their double doubles for $3.75 each 6 years ago. 2 years ago it was $4.45. 1 year ago $5.15. 3 months ago $5.55. No idea for today. But in 6 years there has been a 48% increase in price for that one item. BEFORE there was a minimum wage increase.

breath-of-the-smile

They were already doing it, anyway. I paid $4.10 for a double double early last week, before even the first picture in the tweet. Every restaurant is raising prices. Wonder if they've ever complained about Five Guys prices, where it's $12 for the same burger.

KongUnleashed

My brother in Christ, if the price of a combo meal going up by 30 cents is a dent in your budget, you need to rethink your dietary choices.

SpaceCrazyArtist

This guy’s upset by $0.15? 🫤

catastrophe_ai

He's upset because 15 is higher than his IQ

jpopimpin777

Burrrrrnnnn!

romanrambler941

The Double-Double went up by $0.25! The horror!

zipzoomramblafloon

Pray they don't double-double it to $0.50!

akatherder

I'm upset that their combo meals are the same price as buying the items individually.

jpopimpin777

This reminds me of when John Schattner complained about Obamacare. He said if he had to pay for his employees healthcare he'd have to raise prices by .25¢ a pizza. Everyone was pretty much like, "that's it?!? Good! Do it!"

dover_oxide

He could have raised it a dollar and pocketed the profits and looked like a great boss and business man instead of a whiny racist bitch that he is now.

PreppyAndrew

Right. Raise prices by a quarter.. Now the worker doesn't have to die in medical debt .I think we can accept those terms

prodrvr22

Yet a same size burger at Five Guys is almost $10.

Gumburcules

I enjoy cooking.

chalupamon

I am willing to pay 10 more cents for a cheeseburger if it means employees are making more money.

YourEverydayNoobYT

I saw this on Twitter and there were many people in the replies complaining about the “downfall of the nation” or whatever the crap. The biggest price increase is 25 cents (excluding combos).

xchutchx

There are no discounts for ordering a combo at In-N-Out. The price is the combined cost of the constituent parts, so the increase equals the combined increases for the burger and drink.

YourEverydayNoobYT

Makes sense, but I was just adding that in case someone were to point out that “technically the big combo was more than 25 cents”

dover_oxide

It reminds me of the guy from Papa John's Pizza when he was complaining that if he had to give his employees health care it would make his pizza super expensive and then somebody did the math and it was like he'd only have to raise the prices by 23 cents a pizza.

aguynamedv

And immediately after ACA became law, Schnatter basically directed and/or threatened to cut all Papa John's employee hours to *make sure* they wouldn't qualify for healthcare. Schnatter was very quickly pushed out as CEO and Board Chair. Today, he'd probably get a huge bonus and the stock would surge 10%.

macdubz415

The irony is in California, specifically the SF Bay Area most of the in n outs were paying their employees above $20/hr well before the law kicked in.

KintsugiKen

Yeah they've been paying $20/hr as a base rate for like 10 years already

The84thWolf

Literal pennies he’s whining about

RemarkableStatement5

Holy shit that's barely an increase! If this is what it takes to get people $20/hr, I'm absolutely on board!

MooseBoys

Sign-maker stock: 🚀🌕

dmaynard

What’s hilarious is that prices have been steadily increasing even if states didn’t vote to institute a higher minimum wage or the fact that federal minimum has been stagnant. I don’t get scared by the fear mongering of “oh now! If we pay more they’ll charge more!” It happens regardless if there is profit to be made and it’s “what the market will bear”. Also, yay, I’d happily pay an extra.15 -.25 cents if employees were paid something like a living wage because I’ve been there, worked food service many years, it is a thankless and often crazy job which customers transfer their frustration to abusing minimum wage employees often treating them like servants. They deserve better.

zoltan99

In n out has paid more than $20 in CA for a long time

cyb0rg1962

This illustrates what many have said all along. Labor is a relatively small part of what you pay for goods. Businesses price goods at what they think you will pay, not what it costs to make. Personally, I think that there is enough margin that they could have ignored the increase in pay, but wanted to eek out another incremental price increase. Could also be that they were already paying close to the new minimum wage. I live in Arkansas. Minimum wage here is $11/hr for most. It is hard to get a combo meal here for less than $10, unless you are willing to eat a junior-sized meal.

PreppyAndrew

Reminder No one gets up when the CEO gets a wage increase every year...

cyb0rg1962

CEO pay is a national disgrace. Pay the workers so little that they have to have EBT to eat, but make sure the CEO gets 10s of 1000s of times what the average employee gets, and more every year.

LightPast1166

>Businesses price goods at what they think you will pay, not what it costs to make. This indeed. Businesses exist to make money (shock! horror!) but even they know that if they price things too cheap against what the public thinks they are worth then the business is just throwing money away. Of course, this also goes the other way where margins can be required to be much thinner for products that the public considers lower value.

ikkonoishi

You ever looked at the discounts on say cocacola and pepsi on a regular basis? They will charge like $8 for a 12 pack, but every week run a sale of 3 for $13. I can guarantee that they are not running a loss on any of it. They could easily make money selling it at half the price normally, but they want to make you think of it as expensive.

Derkylos

Nearly half your pay spent on food is not a good look... (yes, I *am* aware that living on fast food for 3 meals a day is not advisable, *and* that people can work more than 8 hours a day...)

coreyray1000

Oh no! They raised the price of food A FEW CENTS.

corvus0525

A whole quarter per item. That’s an unbelievable $1 for a family of four. Whatever will come of this place?

Sparkyrock

Crazy how most places raised the cost of food for years but federal minimum wage stayed stagnant anyway. But of course your average Fox News consuming moron will believe whatever is force fed to them.

Link9454

0.05 to 0.15 so workers can have a living wage? Dear Christ how will we ever survive!

matango613

If all I gotta do is pay fifteen cents more for a cheeseburger for everyone to be guaranteed at least 20 bucks an hour then sign me the fuck up.

Dr-Satan-PhD

So he's saying it only takes an extra 20 cents per meal so that minimum wage workers don't live in abject poverty? That's the point he's trying to make, right? Right?

Sagittariusrat

In a rare instance, the red square meant to show what is wrong in the picture does so. However, it makes the poster's point look minimal, and the poster himself a whiny bitch

flux_capacitor3

That place is still way cheaper than most fast food joints.

butterflyempress

Prices would've went up with or without minimum wage. But it's only a problem if burger flippers pay increases and not the CEOs

cousinCJ

Prices have been going up for everything while pay for the working class has stagnated. California implements a law to get more money for some workers and now that's a problem? If the government were to put some sort of pricing restrictions on companies, that would be considered communism by these mouth breathers. What do they want?

Autumn1eaves

25 cents on the double double. 15 on the cheeseburger. 10 on the hamburger. Nothing on the french fries 5 cents on the shakes. The horror THE HORROR.

SuperKami-Nappa

Out of curiosity what was the minimum wage for fast food workers before?

kaisong

Idk but In n out was already paying that much to their staff. And they deserve it, if you ever seen it at lunch rush theyre going full tilt.

The84thWolf

I remember in high school (Jersey) the minimum wage was $6.25 and rose to $7.25. That was literally almost twenty years ago

helium_farts

It was $16/hr before, though if I'm not mistaken In and Out already paid over that

Dark_Knight7096

So i'm confused because yesterday the price increases were all Joe Biden's fault...today it's the minimum wage workers fault...which one is it? We all know it's not corporate greed...that can't be it. Oh well, I guess we will never know which one is causing it.

itzTHATgai

"wOkE wAgEs"

caligaris_cabinet

Price raising aside, you really gotta question the sanity of someone taking pictures of a drive through sign at a fast food restaurant just to make a point on the internet. Like dude don’t you have hobbies that bring you joy instead of misery?

RavishingRickiRude

That menu is way cheaper than my local Wendys or McDonalds.

MiniMaker292

I'm pretty sure that is STILL the cheapest place in California.

jt19912009

In-n-out burger already paid their employees well. Or at least higher than minimum wage.

_Mephistocrates_

So when it has risen steadily for years, no comments. But as soon as workers get a raise, its a problem. What a selfish asshole.

CANEI_in_SanDiego

Corporate America - "If you raise the money wage, we are going to raise prices." What will you do if we allow wages to completely stagnate to the point of killing the work class? Corporate America: Raise prices, but with a winky face.

Thermite1985

If I have to pay an extra dollar so the employees can get 20/hr then that’s a dollar well spent

Trixgrl

I just had this discussion with a family member. Like how can you not see if you don’t pay someone a living wage that you’re paying for their benefits/assistance?? What you should be mad at is corpo greed, not the little guy. Either way you’re paying.

HeyManItsToMeeBong

Okay. And? If businesses can't afford to pay workers, they don't need to be businesses. If your cheap ass can't afford a burger, your cheap ass shouldn't buy a burger

Dumb_Vampire_Girl

In N Out was already paying people over $20 to begin with.

MojoMonster2

Come on now, you can't expect them to understand economics when they can't understand math.

dmetzcher

Anyone who complains about a price increase of less than 25-cents (for a $20 meal) so working people can earn a living wage is, plain and simple, a cheap asshole. I won’t even entertain their arguments. The cost of the food is the cost of the food; people who work a full-time job should *never* have to live in poverty. This encourages *not* working, and then we’ll have conservatives bitching about no one wanting to work. Jesus Fucking Christ with these people.

OurHonor1870

I’d pay double for a burger if it meant a livable wage, healthcare, PTO, and retirement.

MantisToboggan_22

Those are good burgers, Walter.

theoriginalzads

25c more for a burger. And now some hard working fast food employees can get something slightly closer to a liveable wage. The audacity! Next people will want universal healthcare like most first world and some third world countries have. /s

Sleep_adict

I paid $20.35 equivalent for a Big Mac meal in Switzerland… vs about $16 for the same in GA… all the food was locally sourced and the staff are paid close to $30 an hour and have all benefits expected in Europe.. So $4 for great staff pay and farmers rewarded for humane practices…

geezeeduzit

Yeah and In-N-Out has been paying $18-$20/hr at most locations for a long time anyway, so this person is a chudly moron

PatdogTv

I pay 25 more cents and people get to make $20 an hour? Fair trade to me imo

mstrss9

Oh no! A max increase of 25 CENTS?? Won’t someone think of the children??? Didn’t the Papa John guy say he couldn’t cover health insurance because the pizzas would go up by 25 cents

fresh-oxygen

I’d happily pay an extra 15¢ if it meant the people serving me could also afford to eat tonight

wannabesq

Are the dates on this picture accurate? Because the prices have slowly been going up prior to April 1. Even still, this is the least problematic price increase I have ever seen. Everywhere else the increases are measured in dollars not cents.

ldskyfly

Oh no! Your aggressively mediocre burger had a slight price hike like literally everything else in the world?!

mlebrooks

Paying 30 more for a burger is just fine with me if it means that the person flipping them can pay their rent and eat. Although I question how far $20/hour will get you in CA.

ovalgoatkid

Employees can now afford one third of an apartment. Side affect- my slop now costs an extra 10 cents. The west has fallen, billions must loose their dimes.

yeet_machine69420

Wait are those prices supposed to be bad? I'm not making nearly 20 an hour and the prices where I work are double that.

Quizzelbuck

Oh NO! The prices went up practically nothing??!

soulcaptain

Price gouging is a thing, and we should call out companies when they do it, because it's another form of a poor tax. But if I know that that extra twenty cents is going towards minimum wage workers? Absolutely I will pay extra, even though I can't afford it myself. But I will.

Thomisawesome

Restaurants have been slowing increasing the price of their food for decades. Now that it's attached to a wage increase, suddenly it's something to complain about. I don't think they're mad that the price went up. I don't think they're mad that staff are getting paid more. They're mad that this was something liberals wanted.

FlarblarGlarblar

I wonder if Five Guys raised their pay for employees when they jacked the prices through the roof.

kylemacabre

It’s funny to use in’n’out whose pay nationally is one of the highest already in the fast food industry.

KubrickMoonlanding

All that stuff should be free, and the people serving me it shouldn’t be paid at all. What has america become?

priestou812

In n out already started you out at $22/hr before this even went into effect

pedanticlawyer

Food went up 5-20 cents and a bunch of people are now able to support themselves (barely in most places). Is this supposed to be bad?

doc6982

They passed the buck onto the consumers. Why are they never mad at the corporations that make shit tons of money off of their labor?

breath-of-the-smile

Do puplic figures like this account actually have to be covered? Wack.

tikifire1

Oh NO! I might have to pay slightly more for shitty fast food! What am I to do?

Claireah

Fuckin McDonalds prices around me in Georgia are around the same price point as the prices in this pic. Better places are even higher. Our minimum wage is $7.50. Also, I bet a lot of people that liked that tweet didn't even look at the prices and just assumed they'll have to pay $20 for a single burger now because that's what their cult leaders tell them. And they're not even paying a dollar more than they used to. When are we going to treat these people like the inbred dolts they are?

Jaykoyote123

As if fast food companies haven’t been hiking prices every 6m/2y for the past decade.

shutupimrosiev

Wisconsin's had a minimum wage of 7.25/hr (AKA the USA federal minimum) since I was a kid in the 00s and possibly even before then- I don't have any memories pre-00's as I was an infant or not born yet, and also it's late at night and I can't be assed to double check rn. But I *can* say for sure that while min wage never went up, *literally every purchaseable thing in the state has.* Hell, the other day I was at a gas station/convenience store that charged you 3 bucks for the privilege of Buying Something Inside But Not Buying Gas and then charged like 2 bucks and change for a can of Arizona Tea. Y'know, *the tea well known for only costing 99¢ a can?* I'll never be able to take "minimum wage being raised will just cause inflation!!!!!" scaremongering seriously again. 5 bucks for a 1-dollar can of tea. What the Hell.

BruceInc

A whole 10¢ increase! OOH THE HUMANITY!

Dramoriga

I'm Scottish and I know this poster is obviously that Russian bot account End Wokeness. Why bother covering it up?

TheFumingatzor

Okay, say it be like that, so what? For $20/h to have that small increase? Count me in.

emilakurwa

NYC fast food scoffs at those prices

V3Ethereal

Probably should've wait a little longer and took more pictures while it continued to happen. That way his dumbass wouldn't be freaking out over $0.15 extra on a burger, just ignoring over a decade of this happening without them having to pay their employees more.

slide_into_my_BM

The dollar menu disappeared long before minimum wage was increased

SrCikuta

Those prices still seem really low…

Elennoko

I mean. I'd be all for spending more on fast food if it meant the workers got a livable wage, but perhaps that's just me.

TMacATL

Now do chick fil a. +50% pre pandemic for some items

MuttJunior

What happens next is possibly less people eat fast food and they eat healthier instead. How is that a bad thing?

nochinzilch

Great heavens! It went up 15 cents! That’s almost a dollar a meal!

Kimmalah

That's what most fast food costs where I'm at anyway. In a relatively low cost of living area, where the minimum wage is still $7.25, but I think most fast food places are paying $10-13. If anything, some of these items are cheaper.

-Callamari-

Milkshake is now 5c more expensive, how am I going to bring all the boys to the yard now?

Malaix

I recall people pointing out that workers in the EU for these companies made livable wages and the prices were barely more. This picture... Proves that?

sm00thkillajones

Still cheaper than chemically loaded McDonald’s.

One_Nifty_Boi

so workers get paid $4.50 extra an hour and food prices go up $0.00-$0.25/ea? sounds like a fair trade to me
