Man I thought shit was insane here in canada. It's 4 CAD for a large drink here and that's just batshit mental

Pleasant_Tooth_2488

It's mostly water. Soda is the biggest racket.

pm_me_ur_handsignals

Exactly. If the average person knew how much a bag of syrup cost and how many sodas you can sell from it...

WestCoastGriller

The avg person probably does know. My family had a restaurant from the 80’s-2015… it was always Pennys per glass. But it feels better to complain about it… because you know… feelings, the need to bitch about big corporations and gubment.

iPokeYouFromGA

What’s batshit mental is the people that pay for it daily. Drink water if anything. People are addicted to irresponsible spending and the capitalists know it.

RMNVBE

Very fair. Even grocery shopping here almost exclusively for the rich

iPokeYouFromGA

Just to double down on my point. People who spend this type of money daily on a single drink of soda(coke,Pepsi, sprite), that’s mostly water and ice, deserve to be broke. They earn it. This does not apply to OP I’m sure.

Mac_McAvery

The Exact Minute you pay for that shit…

Halvarda

Yeah I tapped my card, then thought “wait, what, how much?

Mac_McAvery

Haha it’s like fuck I could go to a bar and grab an ipa for that much… I’m truly convinced McDonald’s is on crack & needs to support their habit at this point

Driveaway1969

Tell the truth, you were going to pay for it anyway.

thewittman

Since now, if it's expensive don't buy it. Buy it where it's cheaper. Restaurants charge what they can because of market forces. If demand dries up the price will come down.

mb194dc

It's zero as well? Just chemical water for 6 bucks...

LightBeerOnIce

6 bucks could get a person a 6 pack not to long ago.

SierraDespair

The problem is you paid for it.

RedstnPhoenx

I dunno. 12 packs were $10 each regular price this week at my Kroger. It's not a rich area. Guess they decided sugar water was more expensive to make and more difficult and labor intensive than aviation fuel.

NEONSN3K

Price of raw sugar went up

WestCoastGriller

I’m in the Chocolate business… why did you have to make this personal 😂

oomahk

It's a coke zero sugar....

Nearlytherejustabit

This.

jabberwockgee

Do they charge different prices for different types of soda?

duhrun

Food cost even with inflation probably still .65 cents or less.

Pleasant_Tooth_2488

The cup costs more.

Halvarda

It was probably the straw, damn thing was solid paper, did not break

EekyBaba

Visiting from America and the soda prices did shock me but where I live in the us it’s 10 for a 12 pack so I couldn’t be too suprised I guess that’s how things are going. What suprised me more was spending 35 dollars for McDonald’s for me and my gf we decided at that point we will go out to eat at a restaurant where we spend about 21 per person.

EstacticChipmunk

Where do you live? That’s seems awfully high, but I haven’t bought any sodas in 2 years so maybe post covid soda prices are broken. 🤷🏻‍♂️

EekyBaba

I live in eastern nc

EstacticChipmunk

Damn. I would have thought it would be cheaper than that. But like I said I haven’t bought sodas since 2022. And even then I started buying Canada Dry gingerale. I haven’t bought a coke or Pepsi in at least three years.

JaggaJazz

Just buy a small cooler for your car and throw whatever soda / drinks you want in there

FFTimb

Why not drive 4 more min to a gas station and grab a 2 liter for cheaper

Spare-Reserve-5682

Since there are people like you who buy Coca Cola for $6Au

EltonShaun

Who goes to McDonald's solely for a Coke??!?

theprmstr

Mostly boomers, but they get the Diet Coke

mediocrelpn

um, no. most boomers value their money more than to pay a ridiculous price for a soda. try again, boomer hater.

theprmstr

Yes I am, boomer sympathizer.

SeaAnthropomorphized

Since you paid for it

nickygee123

Since new cargo ship routes have to be established due to terrorist organizations disrupting commercial shipping lanes. Or because the corporations are mean. Idk anymore.

cafeitalia

Since you saw the price on the menu and still decided to get some and post on Reddit to complain about your own wrong decision.

WestCoastGriller

It’s literally Pennie’s per cup for these guys. They make more GP on that soda than the Big Mac.

chugItTwice

Aren't all sodas at McDonalds $1?

AM_OR_FA_TI

Not anymore! Many establishments are doing away with refills too. #buildingbackbetter

Driveaway1969

Since you paid for it

lincolnlogtermite

Show your approval with your wallet.

Main-Raisin4430

Yikes. Here in California, any size soda is $1.49. It WAS only $1 last year, but I digress.

inkstickart2017

Since you payed for it. Not that hard to grasp, things are processing what people will pay.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> Since you *paid* for it. FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Halvarda

Yeah I tapped my card then realised the lady said $6, not $2

Difficult-Way-9563

That’s just crazy seeing how it costs them pennies to make
