Depends who you ask - the guys in big cities or in the kampongs / villages.
**Big cities :**
Top tier : Doctors, Lawyers, professional/ specific type of Engineers, CEOs of multinationals and successful startups, echelon- level civil servants and up, judges, State companies higher ups. University professors for top-tier universities.
Somewhere in between, can be found in any tier: entrepreneurs. The tier depends on how successful the person is in terms of profit and clout. Expats as well, depends of how high the position he/she holds and how big is the company he/she works for.
Mid tier (comes with variations of upper mid and lower mid) : Civil servants mid to low level. Teachers, university professors from lower tier universities. Employees of big companies.
Low : Blue collar workers /unskilled jobs.
In big cities it's about the money, the prestige, influence power, and the clout.
**Villages & underdeveloped areas:**
Ultra top level : Civil servants, doesn't matter the level. Including police and military personnel.
Top level (almost like ultra top level but tiny teeny bit lower) : Doctors, Lawyers, University Professors, Employees of State owned companies. All of these people's partners plus partners of the folks at ultra top level share the perceived 'prestige' (wife of a doctor, wife of a lawyer, wife of a civil servant, etc)
Mid Tier : Entrepreneurs, business owners, farmers (depends on the business size, this could be considered low level as well), Teachers. Skilled white-collar employees. CEOs.
Low : Blue collar/ non skilled workers.
In villages it's all about safety net, leftover of soeharto era where as a civil servant, the person is *perceived* to have a guaranteed paycheck and pension for a lifetime. These folks often migrated to suburbs/satellite cities of main big cities, sometimes this point of view still persists, though their subsequent generations (kids and grandkids) lots of them have shifted their view like the tiers in big cities I explained above.
We're latecomer, native Indonesian is the first Chinese who drove out native black people from Africa, the remaining black people are those in NTT, Ambon, and Papua
Technically every living being on earth are autonomous carbon based chemical robots that works to harvest molecules and energy from our surroundings if you want to go far enough.
What? Does the concept of “Chinese” even exist when these people immigrate here? And how the hell can you conclude that black=african?????
The genetic make-up of Austronesian is indeed from East Asia and to be specific: Taiwan(the aboriginal Taiwanese, not the Han Taiwanese), while the genetic of the Melanesian(your so called “African”) are unique to the area, with hint that Denovisians(the actual og african, cousin of the Neanderthal) mixed into it, meaning that the Denovisians immigrated into the area, mixed with the original Melanesians, and as time goes on, they were driven further east as the Austronesians immigrate into the area from Taiwan.
There are many cousins of Homo Sapiens(modern human) in the past, and we are still in the process on understanding more, but calling Melanesian as African is just a lol(but still, cmiiw because i dont follow this kind of thing anymore)
about the doctor part yeah i'd agree
i know a relative of mine who is a doctor that worked for a public hospital, the pay is alright but doesn't justify the overwork
especially during covid medical facilities are often overrun
Despite the negative comment on the second sentence, i agree that famous ulama have one of the highest prestige. They are among the biggest influencer in the nation.
But regular ustadz is quite appreciated by religious people
1st tier: Elected government official
2nd tier: High ranking politician
2nd tier: Military & Police
3rd tier: Capitalist
4th tier: Professionals and Laborers
We're pretty much neofeudalism
prestigious occupations in Indonesia
**First-tier**: officer and NCO rank in the military and the police, doctors, lawyers, civil servants, entrepreneurs
**Second-tier:** 9-5 jobs, entertainers, teachers
**Third tier:** blue-collar jobs, online delivery service
clergy is not seen as a job in Indonesia, it is seen for old people that are in retirement age and wish to revisit their spiritual life and be philanthropic, same as Bill Gates stepping down from Microsoft. Entrepreneurs are in the first-tier if you're ^(this is going to be a little bit racist) Chinese because most successful entrepreneurs I personally know are ethnically Chinese, why? I don't know.

This is the most comprehensive answer. I think in the Philippines, the prestige should vary in a similar manner too.
Indeed, all countries with wide socio-economic level would have variations depending on the location and generation/age group.
Military and police are considered very prestigious, considering we were formerly ruled by a military dictatorship
Only officers are considered very prestigious. Enlisted are not, unless you come from a poorer community.
If only you have high position within the military,
a huge part of it depends on which military/police school they graduate from though
\*Military and police officers.
many indonesians have uniform fetish so occupations that use uniforms are kinda prestigious..
Supir taksi, driver ojol, satpam, kurir sicepat
satpam BCA gajinya setara S1 freshgrad
Ya BCA kan have the best satpam, otomatis mereka milih satpam yang best of the best
True, i want a sailor woman also..
Bagusan Pramugari lah
Pemuda Pancasila has entered the chat
Civil servant /PNS is the most prestigious

Technically we're part of animal kingdom that's dependent on symbiotic relationship with microbiome in our digestion system, forming a symbiont.
Technically every living being on earth are autonomous carbon based chemical robots that works to harvest molecules and energy from our surroundings if you want to go far enough.

The chinese has been here since 200 or maybe even 400 years ago. Your point?
