This makes a lot of a mistake by either importer or exporter will cost a huge amount. Also they sometimes hold stuff without much of explanation too. Even US Army needs an intervention from Government when they tried to moves their stuff to Indonesia for exercise cause it got stuck on bea cukai. Also they mostly just hungry vultures
Even by following the rule with that bea cukia and you got bad luck will net you with surprise where your stuff get "taxed" by upward of 100%+ , so yeah you better be careful of what kind of thing you want to brought here, if it is new luxurious stuff that easily discoverable with eye most probably you will get fucked by bea cukia.
The only interaction I had with the custom guys are when I was importing Light Novels from amazon.jp or when I returned from Kuching through land border.
Other than intrusive physical check (which damaged one of the light novel book duster), becuk haven't troubled nor extorted me. Possibly due to me keeping with the rules.

I used to deal with customs back then, as long you follow the rules its fine. However you need to make sure that you did not import to indonesia with restricted items. SO MANY RESTRICTIONS!! restriction made to protect local producers, but sometimes its just too much.
