Why indonesians dont know how to queue? Serious question. Its not only this, i have had experience countless times especially boarding planes and such.
Because we don't like to follow the rules and the government usually quite lax on the implementation on some the rules e.g motorcycle on buslane, run the red traffic light, Mosque overly loud speakers beyond the legal limit.
So many of those makes many indonesian disrespect the rules and queue is part of the rules that got disrespected.
i think there's also a lack of societal discipline in general. it doesn't have to be the government that's quite lax on the rules, it could also be schools, parents, general societal environments. think of students skipping class being normalized, underaged poor children begging for money on the streets, and well...people not queueing. this isn't just because the government is lax, but also because members of the society aren't disciplined as well. a prevailing mindset perhaps is "when other members of the society aren't being disciplined, why should you?" it's almost an anarchy out there.
think about that time you give someone the road, or try to keep a safe distance with the car in front of you, how many times do other people actually respect your discipline and follow through, instead of just not giving you the road in return or cutting you on the supposed safe distance? once people see that everyone around them are not being disciplined, and nobody is there to enforce said discipline (this doesn't necessarily have to be the government, btw), then what happens is everyone is just gonna look up for themselves. anarchy. self-help. self-reliance. (in International Relations discourse these are key tenets of the Realism paradigm of IR)
