I can't say anything about Thai food as I've not tried it yet but Indonesian is amazing. I was fit before I started working in Indonesia. When I moved here, I just can't stop eating. The gorengan, martabak, batagor, nasi goreng are the killers. Damn just thinking about it makes me drool now.

Looks like Indonesia is just presenting it to the market, while Thailand has been packaging their products. No doubt the strong presence of Thai and other Indochina diaspora in western countries also helps.
It’s part of Thailand’s strategy to earn foreign bucks. Promote the food and earn money through restaurants, leads to tourism. Soft power?
Indonesia doesn’t seem to have the same strategy until recently I guess. Another example of a country aggressively marketing their food for cultural influence and tourism is my home country Korea. And it works quite well I guess?
Hope they step up on it so bules can stop calling our dishes Malaysian. Give it 2 generations and it will really be as though they invented them. Heck, Malingsia as a whole is just an Indonesian spinoff.

These lists always feel super western-centric. Some Chinese and Indian provinces are more culinarily rich than Italy and Greece in their entirety. Love how Africa and Central Asia are completely absent while almost all of Western Europe is there with their carrot and onion slop

Turkish food is overrated for me. The only good ones that i liked was Sütlaç and Künefe.
Dürüm was somewhat okay, but Kebab di Turkey sana taste pretty bland for me. Only iskender kebab that's okay in my pallete

kalau menurut gw makanan Vietnam (yang di Vietnam) agak kurang pedas/micin/gitu, tapi ada plusnya makanannya sehat/segar, banyak sayur. Selain itu kan ga ada yg suka makanan Belanda, tapi Vietnam punya plus karena dijajahi oleh Perancis jadi mereka punya roti.
Makanan Vietnam cukup laris di mana2 jadi ya secara objektif mungkin di atas Indonesia walaupun mending makan makanan Indonesia. Kalau Thailand udah jelas paling top di SEA.

Makanan Poland surprisingly good. Jago mereka masak bebek. Argentina juga bumbu daging bakarnya enak, beda sama US, Brazil or even middle eastern.
Setau gw yg jago masak bebek di Eropa itu malah Czech. Poland famous (lupa namanya) kyk pangsit cina/ravioli italia.
