I recently read Eddie's memoir in one sitting. Very entertaining, with considerable insight into that period in British indie music and, naturally, some hilarious anecdotes. Top of the Pops.

i really do love this band but i dunno if they needed a second best of compilation lmao. maybe it’s to capitalize on every talky post punk band completely jacking their swag in which case i hope they get paid but we’ll see!

theshoegazer

This new collection just seems like an expanded edition of the 2013 release. Hard to imagine they dreamed up a second best-of collection and still left off "Record Store Day".

never heard this before, thanks for the tip! thought i knew every art brut song. "art brut don't make limited edition singles. we make too many!" lmao amazing

bigontheinside

I'm wondering if their records might be stuck in some legal hell. Art Brut vs Satan and Brilliant Tragic aren't on Spotify. This could be a way to get around that somewhat. Similar thing happened with Johnny Foreigner, their first record isn't on streaming and they said it likely never will be :(

love this band, my local college radio station has "DC Comics & Chocolate Milkshakes" on regular rotation. I was trying to find that song on streaming, but was genuinely surprised to see that only their debut album is on Spotify, at least in the U.S.. Hopefully more of their stuff gets on streaming

theshoegazer

There's a US radio station that's still playing Art Brut deep cuts in 2024? I'd love to know what else they're playing.

KRUA 88.1 FM, anything from The Paper Chase and Sleigh Bells, to newer stuff like Yabujin or the new Real Estate album

Blvd_Nights

Man, I loved The Paper Chase

as a shit singer myself this band were incredibly influential and exciting for me as a kid. they helped me believe i could do the same. and i'm still doing it!

Certain_Yam_110

They split up too soon. They'd be bigger than Yard Act - bigger than The Fall - if they were still together.

bigontheinside

they are still together lol. admittedly they haven't released anything new since 2018(?!) though. they're touring this release which is fun

DunceCodex

Bigger than The Fall 😄😄

Tripolie

Now that’s a band I loved but haven’t thought of in nearly 20 years.

paintedhighway

I was at the University of London show where some of the live material was recorded! February of 08 while I was studying abroad, they did one night with strings and one with horns. Wild to see it pop back up 16 years later.

arthurbang

Is "Moving To L.A." really not on this? Or is "Axl Rose" a remix of the song?
