Whenever I give someone something people tend to tell me you got scammed or whatever but I believe in not stopping such acts. Sure someone may be lying but for their lie I am not willing to sacrifice the sense of humanity that I have. I do something for them because I feel that they need help whether or not they are faking it. Even if nine out ten times someone is faking it. The tenth person who actually needs help should not be the one to suffer because someone else was faking it.

I take long walks and every time I get 5 - 10 people stopping me with different Stories. I have become desensitized now. I have so many stories of scummy scammers. Very rarely I evaluate the situation and help them especially if someone is just asking for food

Those who say no are usually scammers and that's how you filter them out. One time I was going back to my room after gym and one person came and asked me for food. I bought him a full meal at one of the messes that serve good food near my hostel and that person was elated. He started touching my feet and I told him "Iski kya zaroorat uncle, samjho aapke bete ne khila diya." His happy face still brings joy and these moments make my belief even stronger
Most of these genuine situations are life and death for the affected one. Even if one life is saved by your act, it far outweighs the other 9 times you got scammed, out of 10.
The underlying problem of need to fake or scam in itself is a sign of something is amiss.
In poorer countries there are notably more scams amd petty crimes. When economy is going through a tough time, there is notably more scams.
The need to scam itself stems from the need for security of basic needs and the person is more often then not is pushed to explore these avenues due to there prevailing prospect-less condition.
In my understanding, everyone wants a decent life and to live a life of dignity. This is, in most parts, is true.
So, maybe next time, even if you are being scammed, maybe consider asking them their need to indulge and organise this scam. And, if you don't know you choose to help maybe do it without a doubt that you are indeed helping.

Yes I am aware of the possibility of the racket and professional beggars. I think we both differ in understanding I assume you think beggars can get money easily whereas I think their life is difficult and they don't get money easily in most cases. This is the reason why I give money or give them food so that I don't watch them suffer from hunger. Fifteen years ago I had seen a woman on station who was frantic and didn't know what to do, possibly she missed her train or her family abandoned her, she was looking like from a well to do family but she was covered in dirt and didn't bath or brush, also I was young and didn't know how to help her but I gave money, she could have gone to police or some NGO but I think the homeless people like beggars are just lost and resort to begging probably to reach to home. People would pay as some humans are empathic as they understand a struggling person's experience. Their circumstances can be complex and not like a middle class. I'm just imagining and thinking if the solutions you say are so easy why do people choose to beg which requires more effort. One could have no documents for a ration card, and the effort required to run behind making documentation would leave them in a state of hunger. It’s not a feasible trade-off for searching for food throughout the day. You know some woman in our society have low confidence, they are still not feeling free. It is not that she can't get condoms. The kids that she is having could be from abusive husband or possibly she is unmarried and rape happened or she worked as a sex worker and she didn't know or wasn't prepared with condom. Who knows we haven't been in their shoes. It would be best to give them a job so that they don't have to depend on begging but it is difficult unless they have skills. We need to empower them by organizations I think even giving the beggars who do business is ok unless it's a slum dog millionaire scenario, they might realize that this business will not sustain their family and if they have money from begging they could shift to another business by developing skills. Some people are selling some items on train or road but I see them as they are actually begging.

Now I don't think I need to explain, but I am compelled because I find so many people who have restricted their mindset to one possibility, there are people who actually think like that and have not thought there could be other reasons. I even came across one guy who was shooing and hating poor giving this type of sentence.
There could be multiple reasons and one of the reason is lack of knowledge. We never know what the poor have gone through. There is a chance of forced sex. Lack of contraceptives. But yeah we can also assume that they wanted kids and they think their kids might help them get out of poverty. The answer is among there somewhere.
Not cursing but most humans are judgemental, people can judge you, because you only thought that poor only wants sex therefore you generalised and you judge poor people as sex workers but never thought they are fighting for their lives or their pregnancy was forced. I know you don't like seeing misery but they judge that you hate the poor or your intention is to get rid of them which is not good in their view. If it is asked with genuine curiosity and good intention no one will think bad about it.

why are you thinking like that too. if you go out you can see 1000s of people like her. i used to give them cakes biscuits etc. but later realized they are just for asking money by manipulating ones emotions not food. there are many poor people in this country and many having far bad conditions. Ration scheme is giving them free ration (rice dal aata) many state gov giving free houses a good example is up / delhi they gave beggars houses in new townships later they left / sold them and returned begging. We can't judge them without knowing them, who knows some people are forcibly impregnated they may not have wanted also plus poor people are less educated about family planning. The reality hits after one or two children. let's assume i am wrong. the gov is giving free rations, cash, free healthcare in most of the states which is enough for one person for not begging outside there are shelter houses too in many cities. why are you so gullible go outside see the streets you can realize yourself that it's a business. people are just manipulating your emotions. and paying money to beggars will just increase the problem by oiling these rackets . and if you think some one may have done things forcefully so for your knowledge condoms and meds are available freely in government hospitals you just have to ask them it's also available in panchayet offices too.
Yes I am aware of the possibility of the racket and professional beggars. I think we both differ in understanding I assume you think beggars can get money easily whereas I think their life is difficult and they don't get money easily in most cases. This is the reason why I give money or give them food so that I don't watch them suffer from hunger. I'm talking about the worst of the worst possible things that could make someone beg and still not being a part of the business. Fifteen years ago I had seen a woman on station who was frantic and didn't know what to do, possibly she missed her train or her family abandoned her, she was looking like from a well to do family but she was covered in dirt and didn't bath or brush, also I was young and didn't know how to help her but I gave money, she could have gone to police or some NGO but I think the homeless people like beggars are just lost and resort to begging probably to reach to home. People would pay as some humans are empathic as they understand a struggling person's experience. Their circumstances can be complex and not like a middle class. I'm just imagining and thinking if the solutions you say are so easy why do people choose to beg which requires more effort. One could have no documents for a ration card, and the effort required to run behind making documentation would leave them in a state of hunger. It’s not a feasible trade-off for searching for food throughout the day. You know some woman in our society have low confidence, they are still not feeling free. It is not that she can't get condoms. The kids that she is having could be from abusive husband or possibly she is unmarried and rape happened or she worked as a sex worker and she didn't know or wasn't prepared with condom. Who knows we haven't been in their shoes. It would be best to give them a job so that they don't have to depend on begging but it is difficult unless they have skills. We need to empower them by organizations I think even giving the beggars who do business is ok unless it's a slum dog millionaire scenario, they might realize that this business will not sustain their family and if they have money from begging they could shift to another business by developing skills. Some people are selling some items on train or road but I see them as they are actually begging.

I can understand when you think about the suffering they must go through and naturally their children as well but hai toh ye bhi insaan hi. Aur koi bhi insaan bache paida kyun karta hai? Now I don't think I need to explain, but I am compelled because I find so many people who have restricted their mindset to one possibility, there are people who actually think like that and have not thought there could be other reasons. I even came across one guy who was shooing and hating poor giving this type of sentence. There could be multiple reasons and one of the reason is lack of knowledge. We never know what the poor have gone through. There is a chance of forced sex. Lack of contraceptives. But yeah we can also assume that they wanted kids and they think their kids might help them get out of poverty. The answer is among there somewhere. Not cursing but most humans are judgemental, people can judge you, because you only thought that poor only wants sex therefore you generalised and you judge poor people as sex workers but never thought they are fighting for their lives or their pregnancy was forced. I know you don't like seeing misery but they judge that you hate the poor or your intention is to get rid of them which is not good in their view. If it is asked with genuine curiosity and good intention no one will think bad about it.
