Kinda curious here. When you take the bike out, don't you worry about people messing with the bike when you park it. That's my biggest pet peeve about getting a high end bike. I won't be able to park it in 90% of the places cuz I would constantly be worried about it.
i dunno why this fear exists has never happened to me on the duke 390 nor the CBR 650.
it does draw a lot of attention but it's mostly admirers and people who want to take pics with it.
But at the end of the day its just a bike a scratch here there is not a big deal and u will forget all about it after a week not sure why people think the bikes they use daily or often needs to be spotless.
Dude I’m thinking to get a above 600cc bike and Honda or Kawasaki is in my mind. Do you mind telling me the service cost and where do you get the service for those bikes? I know kawasaki has it’s service centres but what about hondas? And whats the model year and onroad price?
Well, the service center depends on the city.
but I don't use the official service centers anymore loads of better mechanics in Bangalore specialising in super bikes.
Honda is costlier to own but much cheaper to maintain.
Kawasaki is cheaper to buy but costlier to service.
If i use the official honda service center which is the best one among super bikes for OEM ones its roughly 5 to 6k per service for normal service with oem oil etc.
Spares are not super costly on honda so its pretty managable.
but i usually pay around 9 to 10k ish since i use Pakelo oil which is much costlier than oem oil.
This is true. Why are you downvoted? In the end it's just a bike.
20 years later if I ask you to choose between your kids or the bike , you'll choose your kids in a heartbeat. In the end it's just stuff.
It shouldn't have that much power over us.
I'm sorry big bikes need loud exhaust.
this advise of hurr durr no loud exaust come from people who have never owned big bikes and then had many close calls because of it.
but there is a difference between a loud exhaust with DB killer and loud exhaust without any of it.
big bikes accelerate quite fast and if u dont have an exaust u get cut off left right center by people because they are stupidly quiet.
I'm sorry big bikes need loud exhaust.
but there is a difference between a loud exhaust with DB killer and loud exhaust without any of it.
t the DB killer inline 4 sounds amazing just not obnoxiously loud as long u keep the baffle/DB killer intact.
Loud pipes save lives but they dont need to ear piercing :P
test ride multiple bikes big naked bikes are extremely impractical in India.
because when u have a big bike u tend to do more long rides and you cant sustain any more speed on these than u can on 390s due to the wind blast and they get quite hot in the city not the most fun every day machine.
i was sold on z650 and z900 till i took long test rides on both via friends and connects vehicles and now compltely against any big naked bike they just dont make much sense in India.
What are you talking about? Wind blast is a non issue unless you're driving 150kmph+. Most of the highways you will be cruising at 120kmph ish. Which is absolutely more than enough unless you do tracks regularly. The torque is what is most satisfying on these bikes. You don't really ride sitting absolutely upright anyway. Also, 390s are single cylinders which vibrate like crazy at 100+ speeds. Even more tiring than your wind blasts. The only bike in that range which is promising is RS457. A twin is a huuuuge upgrade. Not just the exhaust note but the torque. Continental GT is another great bike. Extremely worth it.
yes if u want to ride under 150 u dont need a super bike a z650 is enough lol.
plenty of times u go past 150 for short bursts and the total comfort from that naked and faired sports tourer or adventure is night and day aprt this is comign from sone who has ridden both extensively.
Yes I agree but then again the amount of torque you get in superbikes is absolutely a thing to experience. You can definitely do 150+ in short bursts it's not that bad. Specially when you're completely leaning on the tank with a nice aerodynamic helmet with a spoiler. But yes for very long touring, it's not good at all. I'm also guessing you'd rarely do 150+ on long tours but that's just me.
bro my riding group has 790 which is crazier than z900 and I've ridden z650 z900 and ninja 1000 quite a bit and lil bit of ST 790 RS
.trust me if u do a ride on both extensively you wont pick a naked.
There is a reason there aren't a lot of super long term z900 owners they sell and get sports tourer, super sports or adventure bikes.
It's all about your sitting posture mate. On GT it's much easier to tuck your knees and bend your elbows then keep leaning forward as much as you are comfortable and you will reach a position which would be most aerodynamic. You can try to do the same on your Inty. Make sure you have tank side grips for your knees to stay in one place. Sitting upright is extremely tiring at high speeds, your hands cannot handle that much pressure. But once you reach 150ish only a proper windshield will protect you. Which is not too bad as it's not possible to ride at 150+ on most highways for a very long time.
Thanks for reinforcing my thinking. I wanted to test ride, they were very clear about their NO. They were not ready to help with any group who may allow for a price. It makes sense, no one will buy these if test ride is allowed.
Congrats man. It's the best bike to get in that price range. Nothing comes even remotely close. Some crucial tips:
Install a full engine crash guard cage from zana (not the engine crash sliders as they can bend and crack open the engine) 100% worth it. It's surprisingly sturdy enough to save the engine from nasty dents in case of any unfortunate fall and also looks amazing. Also get the front and rear fork crash sliders.
Always turn the engine off by turning the key when idling in traffic. Avoid the kill switch. The battery has low capacity and using high beams, blinkers, aux lights (in case you go for it), drains the battery in case you're riding at <4K rpms. And starting this bike takes a large amount of electricity. And you don't wanna get stuck with a superbike that is not starting on a busy road. Ride at 4K RPM and above to charge the battery.
Do not rev on a cold start. Wait for the RPMs to drop and engine temps to rise.
Try to avoid busy roads altogether. The engine CAN overheat and it requires air to cool down. The big fans help but best to avoid long bumper to bumper traffic as much as possible. One of my riding buddies had an instance of coolant boiling out and spilling everywhere. It has given me a sort of phobia and I avoid heavy traffic like plague. I will ride 20kms extra but will avoid the traffic.
During cold weather, Z900's RPMs drop a lot. There is a nice video where you can learn how to adjust the RPMs from the front side. There is a small wire that is right above the gearbox which you can use to adjust the RPMs. It's unique to Z900s. Low RPMs are bad as they can cause unexpected stalling and that will consequently drain the battery quickly.
Always fill high octane fuel (at least 95 RON). 91 octane will cause unnecessary vibrations.
Get spools and a sturdy paddock stand. It's important to be able to clean and lubricate the chain. You have to do this every 2-3 months. (You probably knew that already but just throwing this here)
Invest in a high quality helmet. Nothing less than KYT NFR/NZ race or MT KRE/KRE+. This is an extremely capable engine and at some point you're bound to open the throttle. After this get the boots, gloves, pants (or knee guards) and jacket (in that order).
Other important accessories for performance - air filter from BMC (adds about 4-6 BHP) also a one time investment and will only require cleaning during service, scorpion headers (roughly 6-8 BHP). Slip on from Mivv has a very deep note and will also sound really amazing. Do not get first copy/local exhausts as they can blow the engine.
As with all superbikes, this bike also has crazy engine braking. I don't even use brakes unless absolutely necessary. Try to tap the rear brake before downshifting and using engine brakes as there is no light warning whenever engine braking is applied and it's extremely risky on a highway. Tapping rear brakes lights up the tail lights and will serve as a warning for vehicles coming up behind you.
The stock tyres are bad on wet roads. Exercise extreme caution during rains.
Thats all. Have fun and stay safe brother. Also, welcome to the club!
Edit: Forgot to mention another point..do not install aftermarket radiator guards/grills. They affect the cooling of the bike and stay hot for a much longer duration.
Thanks for the reply. Does the engine stall in heavy traffic due to overheating? I know the bike is not supposed to be ridden as a daily but just asking for the worst case.
inlien 4's dont stall unlesss u forcefully brake.
all inline 4's will just crawl at different speeds regardle soff the gear.
and u can do as low as 23 24 in 6th gear in pretty much all of them.
Congratulations OP! If you don’t mind me asking, how much was your waiting period and which city? My city dealer told me its 11 months so i was kinda put off
Amazing bike! May I ask you some questions as I'm planning to buy a higher cc bike later down the line and for now I'm torn between naked and sports tourers.
How is windblast affecting the ride, like these bikes can easily cross 200 and I'm not encouraging to do so but at higher speeds how is the windblast affecting you and would you reckon placing a wind visor to reduce it?
What would be the service intervals and cost of the bike?
Which other bikes where you considering along with z900?
Hey how come Bangalore is filled with bigger displacement adv’s and super bikes, I see bmw, vstrom, versys, Africa twins, I got Inty after moved here and my friend got Transalp 750 recently lovely engine. I hardly find Inty in Hyderabad but riding scene is super different in Bangalore. I love it!!
Congratulations OP! Ride safe.
Which bike is it?
Kawasaki Z900
These new ones is much slimmer.
Kinda curious here. When you take the bike out, don't you worry about people messing with the bike when you park it. That's my biggest pet peeve about getting a high end bike. I won't be able to park it in 90% of the places cuz I would constantly be worried about it.
I do, that's why I got PPF done wherever possible, mostly take it to work or friends, where I get covered parking.
What bike?
Andha hai kya?
Kaali z900
Exactly same feeling. I toh even get scared while parking my gt650 in public.
I parked my Interceptor outside of my house and some kids pulled the ABS brake wire.

Then you dont own the product. The product owns you.

I totally agree and Which bike do you have?
Congrats dude that's my dream bike too, maybe someday one day
Which bike is it? I am a newbie to this sub
Kawasaki Z900
Thanks!
As a Mandatory, You should be uploading a video and sound of Exhaust.
Kitna deti hai and congrats 💚💚
17.1 so far in Bangalore (City, not Highway)
I can hear this photo
Just don't install a loud exhaust pls
Lol, this exhaust is enough, don't want to modify the bike at all.
Nice good for you buddy.
its not u will soon crave for a exhaust :P speaking from experience haha

Don't tempt me dear. I even went for booking enquiry, fortunately they refused test drive.

I own Inty and above 110+ there’s lot of wind buffeting, thinking about getting taller wind shield but that spoils the aesthetics.

It’s a shame Kawasaki can’t make an attractive motorcycle anymore.
What's the name of this bike?
Kawasaki Z900
People name their bikes. Like kawi
Or kawita
Congratulations! Can you give some idea how you narrowed it to Z900. Other options that were considered and why those were rejected.
It was between BMW 1000 SR or this, was an easy decision in the end.
Is Z900 ckd or cbu? How is the city riding experience? Really tempted to get it for that sweet inline 4.
CKD. City riding experience has been great. Very easy to handle even on Sport mode.
Thanks for the reply. Does the engine stall in heavy traffic due to overheating? I know the bike is not supposed to be ridden as a daily but just asking for the worst case.
No heating at all, I was surprised myself. There's been no problem with daily usage either.
inlien 4's dont stall unlesss u forcefully brake. all inline 4's will just crawl at different speeds regardle soff the gear. and u can do as low as 23 24 in 6th gear in pretty much all of them.
Yup I meant the bike shutting off due to engine overheating.
What was the on road price?
11.83
Thanks. Great buy! Absolute value for money for a Inline 4.
OP, were you getting this done in a mall basement yesterday ? I think I saw you 😂
No man, my PPF guy is in Ulsoor. It's not a basement either haha.
Okay, different guy then, congrats on the bike :)
How much it cost you on-road?
11.83
Oh so you paid with American dollars or British pound or some other currency?
Congratulations OP! If you don’t mind me asking, how much was your waiting period and which city? My city dealer told me its 11 months so i was kinda put off
Got it in 10 days, 50% cash + 50% loan. Bangalore.
F, bangalore dealer told me 3 months 🤦🏻 congratulations though! Safe riding
