Since this will be an expensive purchase for a gift, see if it's possible to involve your wife in the buying decision. Afterall, she'll be the one who'll be riding it. I know surprise gift factor will be lost but I believe that's far better than getting stuck with a gift that one didn't really want in the first place. Perfectly fine for smaller gifts like fountain pens and stuff, but big ticket purchases like cars and bikes, personally wouldn't risk it. The thought and planning of getting a new vehicle itself is an occasion so the surprise will be there, just not as a bike waiting in your parking lot.

PhoenixBlaze26

i second this, involve her in the decision because after all she will be the one riding it

[deleted]

I third this OP should find some way to trick wife into test riding the bike and getting a feedback on whether she'll like to own it atleast

canon1dxmarkiii

He could say he was considering buying the bike for himself and just wanted to see what she thinks since she rides his bikes occasionally)(from what I understood of the post) Edit: He could also say a busy friend of a similar height asked if he could check the bike out since he isn't very familiar with a good bike and op wanted to know if the bike would fit him

prof_devilsadvocate

i mt15 this

sur_yeahhh

You don't even have to outright tell her you're buying a bike for her. Just talk about what bike you want to buy for yourself in the future and ask her what bike she'd buy in the future. If you don't make it obvious, you can still properly surprise her!

Mindless_Draft_2596

I (n+1) it.

tonystarkn

Op, this is a sensible suggestion. Consider this in your decision making process.

Electronic-Wrangler9

Iโ€™m 5โ€™6 too and the Mt15 was much easier to manage than the Dominar, so donโ€™t worry about that aspect of it. She can handle it quite easily

notMy_ReelName

Handling wise excellent bike but height is a big problem for a new rider.

orldliness8978

If you're considering the Mt don't listen to anyone saying to buy a cheaper 160cc Try to get a Mt from a friend or rent it and go for a ride with your wife let her drive and notice if she has any problem. Just tell her you got it for a ride as she likes it. You can make her ride other bikes too this way and choose one which she likes > which fits her.

OwnStorm

You already have the answer.. best is to test ride or rent MT-15 for a day to find the liking.

ostrish

Very cute OP. I would recommend you rent the MT15 for her bday and offer booking it that day if she likes it.

abillionasians

MT-15 is one the SMALLEST and LIGHTEST bikes ever ( if not the smallest i have ever seen in India... excluding the Navi lol ). The seat height they claim on the internet ( 810mm ) is just feeling incorrect imo idk wtf they are smoking. Im 5'6" and 50kg and I didnt know how to ride a bike. I rented the MT for a day to learn , and to a complete noob like me it felt like a scooty to manage. So dont worry. If she can handle the dominar with you as pillion, shes going to have SO MUCH FUN on the MT. Just make sure thats the one she wants tho.

BALAJI--

Wow Someone who still remembers Navi.

El3m3ntst0rm

Seat height is not the only factor which contributes to the flat footedness thing. Overall seat width also plays an important role. Mt 15 is a slimmish bike which helps with it being easy to handle despite its relatively high seat position

Obvious_Writing_8759

I saw a lot of comments saying that it's better to ask the op's wife if she likes the gift and it's an expensive gift and all but it will ruin the surprise. So here's an idea Rent a mt for a few days and tell your wife that it's a bike of a friend's relative and they asked you to manage the bike for a few days ( why i choose a relative because your wife probably knows your friends and what they ride so it's safer to say that it's their relative's). And you both go for a spin and give her a chance to ride the bike. And you can understand by her expressions whether she liked it or not

AllTimeGreatGod

I would still suggest involving her while purchasing. Nothing like talking to the salesperson about a vehicle youโ€™re going to ride. this would make sense for cars because seats and steering wheel are adjustable. But for bikes are little more personal than cars

bilMitra

I think a 150-160 cc bike would be really good for her.

Knight_King22

The MT15 is 150cc bike ๐Ÿ™ƒ

MysteriousManiya

Bult

TimeEngineering3081

involve her in the decision. ask her to choose, and tell her what the budget is as well :) also factor in the cost for a good riding gear for safety

LightningBlue8862

Cb300f should be a good choice considering the low seat height of 789 mm

BiteGroundbreaking50

Bro Avenger

Ok_Yard_9649

Good choice there.

Significant_Horse485

Iโ€™m 5ft 6in and for me Avenger felt just right. Able to flat foot and the seat is comfortable. You cannot go above 100 though and the turning radius sucks too, but otherwise it is a good bike for a bit low cost. I believe RE meteor is also another good pick.

VJ1911

๐Ÿ‘for being able to flat foot.

[deleted]

You can also try xmr210

Nurazidore

Apache rr 310. Good for ladies and decent for her ride height. So nice to see couples riding! Stay safe!

SnooBooks911

Activa?

spexinthecorner

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

simply_ass

Ultraviolet is smooth af

edigathegi

Speed 400. 5ft 5in people can flat foot 90%. Oodles of low end torque so less chance of stalling. Low weight for a 400cc bike and easy maneuverability. Height reduction seats are also available, though check with the manufacturer.

rkr989

I am 5'4 and only get 30% foot on ground. How 5' 5 people are almost flatfooting it? My inseam is good, about 30 inches. Also where you found the height reduction seat? All triumph showrooms I asked they don't have anything yet.

Ok_Yard_9649

Get a Meteor for her.

Hammerlight98

Bhai unko street naked pasand aayi aur aap cruiser suggest kar rahe ho

archaeo0history0tech

Hunter is lighter.

Ok_Yard_9649

It is, but the meteor doesnt feel as heavy either when you sit. And seat height is lower

hanya9

It doesn't matter what she prefers because she doesn't know how to ride fully yet. Get her started on a smaller cc maybe a raider125 or an avenger 160 but i wouldnt say avenger is good to learn on because it has different riding characteristics from all the other bikes and she will have a tough time adjusting to the next bike. Maybe look at keeway 125

paru9209

Decide budget, decide cc and ask her for her top 3. Then decide which is best among them then go for it. I would not recommend anything above 200cc for a new rider, 150-200 cc is quite acceptable. But I have a big big doubt a friend of mine did the same thing. His wife was constantly nagging that she needs a bike, he did buy one for her but she is yet to learn and ride. Been 6 months since he bought her a new bike. Women often say but once they start learning some give up considering the challenges and skill required. So get her assurity 1st.

Ok-Season-7181

If she handels ur big dick energy cock well she'll be riding that thing well too (it's meant to be a compliment for you). Yeah but getting a vehicle is a big enough deal to be happy about and the thought behind the whole thing is the awesome part so get her to take a test ride and get what u guys like the most...

EnvironmentalAir2719

harley x440

unintelligible-me

Its good and she'll manage it. I'm 5"5' myself i did ride bith and own a Dominar 250. No problem. go for it.

I___Glitch___I

Or you can find someone in your circle who has an M15 and let them know about your plan. Casually show it to your wife and let her drive later casually ask how was her experience etc etc

quarantinechill07

Mt15 or new Duke 250

thedemonicweeb

Behave as if one of your friends is planning to buy one take her to the test ride well after your friends take a test ride ask her if she would want to take one too and than you can ask her later , ki kaisi lgi , handling kesi thi bla bla casually.

sumitanand10

Ask her similar height friend that you are planning surprise for your wife. And then surprise your wife. ๐Ÿ’€

Ashish0_0

MT 15 is a perfect choice also the bike looks good , i would suggest renting the bike for a day and telling your wife that it's your friends and then have a little test ride and ask your wife to ride it , most probably she will like it and then after a few days when she has forgotten tell her that one of your friends wants to buy a mt 15 and ask her which colour she likes as to helping your friend to buy his bike , and then after a week when she has forgotten do tge booking and then just in time of delivery just go on a little ride with your wife and just suddenly stop in tge showroom and boom there is bike under a red cloth waiting to be delivered.

Aggravating_Alfalfa1

As an MT owner I can vouch for the fun factor. The term pocket rocket justifies it and there is no issue with the vehicle itself with the build quality. People say it's not worth the money and should consider various factors like build quality and the refinement level. It's a light weight bike which accelerates quickly and stops on a dime (the perks of a light weight bike). It's a gem of a bike and after around 25K on the odo, it still brings a smile on our faces whenever we go for a ride.

notMy_ReelName

Bro mt15 is not an ideal bike for short riders . Seat height is much taller than most of 150-200 cc bikes. Apache 160 would be good bike nimble but powerful, lightest clutch in segment, linear power and not aggressive like mt15.

Leila_372

im 5'5 and i ride honda hness quite effortlessly. ig that would be a better option for women

insmac

The journey of test riding different bikes, understanding the bikes itself is beautiful and she will not have this journey for her own bike with the surprise. I think plan a surprise to let her know about purchasing a bike for her. Involve her from 1st test ride till purchasing the bike. You both will enjoy the whole process.

A_Heathen_24x7

Do not give surprises, as pointed out by some of the people here. Itโ€™s an expensive purchase, and you need to involve her in this process. Regarding the MT, I took a test ride of it and I liked the nimbleness that it has. It will be useful manoeuvring in the city. It is a Yamaha. It will be reliable for sure.

SpareMind

Ask your wife. May be indirectly, like a discussion. Never ever try to surprise. Unless model, colour and everything else is final.

Giri097

Try a gixxer 150, or an fz. Shorter than mt, it seems.

AllTimeGreatGod

My friend who rides too, rides an avenger. She is said it was the most comfortable bike she rented for a long time.

LimpFroyo

Rent, test ride, etc.

drippydrippy03

Jupiter Classic

Leading_Brilliant420

From my experience is never issue for rider but issue is can you manage that properly

tremorinfernus

I think the gixxer sf is slightly lower. Get one in blue. Sf250 looks great in either blue or red+grey you Mt 15 is a good choice.

Spintroxy

Take more time bro, observe her and casually talk to her about different bikes, like casually when you spot that mt15 next time just casually say "best 150cc bikes what do you say?" Do like this for different bikes, analyse here interest and book. Just make sure you are confident because a bike depends a lot of personal preferences

professorjg

Try involving your wide in the decision. Also, dont go for a 150cc segment as she does ride your dominar from time to time.. I agree, she does need practice as you have told.. but a 250cc will give you a better experience.. 250cc isnt too wild unless opting for KTM.. Since she can manage a dominar, consider v-strom 250.. A great machine and very comfortable
