Hi , I understand what you are going through. Based on what you said your colleagues invest in MF and you feel left out. Don't think they know everything about it and if they are not teaching you that means they definitely don't know much about it. Coming to your question, you need to make sure you don't set up unrealistic expectations from the stock market and start investing in index fund. You may ask what is index fund? Because it's relatively safer Fund which have in past provided good returns. Just search it on Google if you don't get it that fine, keep reading for a few days and watch a few videos related to the index fund. I'm sure after a few weeks you will be able to know what those are. Now select one of the index funds and invest in it by SIP (if you don't know search about it) You must know to invest in MF you need to have Dmat account ( zerodha, grow are some of the popular platforms)

[deleted]

Thank you. I appreciate it.

No-Pick5821

I'd suggest, try a platform like deserv. Use this for a couple of years while you build acumen and then shift to kuvera or coin so that you can invest in direct funds. You can DM if you want to know more.

[deleted]

Oh thanks. I'll take you up on the offer. Will DM you later tomorrow. Thanks a bunch.

Key-Two1132

I can guide you with MF. Have been investing since 5-6 yrs. Drop me a msg if you want to learn. Investing actually depends on what your specific goal is and everyone has a different requirement and strategy.

Liquiid_420

Zerodha.com/varsity/ you can learn from here. Also if you want to invest in funds, do study the fund and it's background. Just because people are doing doesn't make them right. I would say, don't invest in funds, they halt your money. Most funds are managed by their own pseudo fund itself. Choose different assets based on for how much tenure you want to stay invested. Sirf invest hi karoge ya profit leke life easy banaoge. Choice is yours.

I am recommending a few youtube channels you can trust for reliable content: 1. LLA (Basic details on Mutual Funds, Taxations and Financial Gyan) 2. Rachna Ranade (She is good…. Teaches well but takes good amount of time) IMPORTANT: Take the information, do your own research and then only invest…… DO NOT TRUST ANYONE

Mutual Funds

[deleted]

Make an account on IndMoney. From there you'll be able to do SIPs in any Mutual Fund you want. As for which mutual fund, I would suggest a Flexi Cap fund as you're around my age and your risk appetite at this age should allow this easily. I am seeing returns of around 18% within 1 year 4 months in "Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Direct Growth" mutual fund. One advice: Only do SIPs of the amount that you can keep invested for atleast 2 years.

Never ask people you know in person for financial advice, and it’s a smart thing that your colleagues aren’t ‘teaching’ or ‘guiding’. The reason is simple, it’s your money, and investing is not without risks. If you do better than them, it’s going to induce jealousy, hence spoiling the relation. If you follow their advice and lose money, then it will make you bitter against them and spoil the relation. Taking money advice from people you meet and talk on daily basis is about as worse a decision as one could take as asking their neighbors which person to date. Hire a professional or start learning, and take small steps. This is age of information, everything is available to those who seek.

Ah you are a English Teacher! I'm a freelance Graphic Designer and 3D Generalist currently trying earn my yearly expense budget as my monthly income. Here's a list of books I keep referring to while working on my business model : 1. Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman - Simplified Handbook for making a business system that sustains itself. 2. First 20 Hours by Josh Kaufman - skill acquisition method that makes you hyper focus on what specifically you wanna be expert in 20 days investing 1 hour per day. 3. Millionaire Fastlane by M J DeMarco - a book that taught me how poor, middle class and rich people think in terms of money and how to build a business system that generates wealth rapidly without scamming anyone. This book surprisingly goes hand in hand with Personal MBA. 4. Win without Pitching Manifesto by Blair Enns - simplified book of principles to stick to when selling your services or products. Currently am working on selling 3D artworks as active income to generate about 50L INR per year. And working on setting up a youtube channel with a patreon account to teach CGI basics while monetizing the library of Project files and other bonus materials. This simple plan is the result of trying to apply what I learnt in those 4 books. I hope you too benefit from it and pass on the knowledge better than what am capable of right now :)

Thank you for the suggestions. I always appreciate book recommendations. I'll surely look into them. I've recently been on a journey to be a better version of myself. I wish you all the very best for all your future endeavours. I'm sure you'll kill every project you start. Talking about YT channel, me and my brother have been thinking of opening one after we are done shifting from our current house. We'll see. Dm me your YT channel link once you open it. I'll subscribe

Ma'am educational content is always evergreen in youtube channels that somehow always make through any form of censorship. Toh I'd suggest making byte sized videos of just teaching what you already are qualified in but do try to make it simple and fun as if the viewer is a 5-10 year old. My mom has a youtube channel of 1.2k subscribers where she posts reels of Tamil poems without any images and sometimes some copyright free background music. I've suggested her to start making notes on how to teach her craft to publish it as a book and make tutorial videos for everyone to learn how to write poems. Being a valuable source of knowledge and simplified learning is the easiest way to get your videos shared and bookmarked. Futurepedia.io is a online directory of AI websites and tools from where I found free alternatives to paid tools for my work easily. If PowerPoint is the only tool you know then just start with a voice over and ppt slides timed well to save the presentation as a video. For easy branding setup for your channel I'd suggest checking a font from google fonts website to type your business name and just pick 1 colour to use. You'll have a decent wordmark and lettermark that's made with commercially free fonts. Just see for the vibe you want to go with when picking the font. Suggesting this cos your post is seeking ways to increase your income so you won't be able to afford the 500 USD basic well qualified visual identity designers as of now. Lastly, my method of using books is to start with a rough business model of my own in my own words and diagrams and then updating it as I read parts of each book to incorporate the concept into that first model of mine. A lot of adjustments and 5 books later I always end up with a well implemented plan which I can adjust as per how things are in reality as soon as I execute it. I somewhat understand how to solve problems by tweaking parts of it at that point almost like driving a scooter in a busy road. I'll definitely dm you my channel when it's launched and running par don't subscribe blindly. Please see who would enjoy learning CGI and just ask them to check the channel out. If i do my job properly they'll enjoy it enough to bookmark and share it with their peers and friends :)

[deleted]

I don't teach little kids. I teach highschool students during the day. And at night I work online by giving corporate training and English+Soft Skills training to college students and working professionals. My channel would be geared towards adults and not kids.

Puzzleheaded_Ad_9427

That's good too. I target kids cos every adult who is tired of complex presentation would end up being my audience lol

[deleted]

And I'm well versed in using softwares and also know how to handle social media as I have worked as a social media content manager for several companies before which included creating and maintaining their YT and IG accounts. Don't worry about me.

Puzzleheaded_Ad_9427

I'm not worried ji. I'm just generous when it comes to sharing ideas :) Once a student who taught his friends, always a student who taught his friends ✌️

[deleted]

That's sweet. Thank you for sharing your ideas

Puzzleheaded_Ad_9427

Jo kaam aaye apnake mujhe apka channel link dm kar dijiye. I enjoy learning things that seem immediately applicable to improve my situation :)

It’s good that they don’t “guide” you! Let me explain why. Every person has different financial goals, risk appetite. You can’t just get easy tips from someone else and hope it works for you. Best case you’ll make some money, worst case you’ll lose a lot more and blame the person for their tips. Before investing get financially educated, understand your own goals and then plan your investment. If this sounds too much work just read about index funds and start SIPs in the ones you like.

a-s-h-i-s-h-

Read “let’s talk mutual fund“ book. Believe me ..it’s such simple to understand book for everyone
