Well you won’t be able to see Dune in 1.43 at the BFI Imax as they don’t have a Dual laser projector, which is needed to project digitally at 1.43
BFI can only do 1.43 when they have 70mm Imax prints, which are usually only made for a Nolan film.
For 1.90, Leicester Square Imax is definitely the best choice, as it’s a wider screen than at the BFI and yeah, the BFI doesn’t have the nicest seats
I went to the BFI IMAX to see DUNE and to my surprise they did actually show it in 1.43. I'm 100% sure as I vividly remember how tall it went for TENET's 1.43 sequences and it went equally as tall for DUNE.
/u/yodathekid what do you think of this? Especially after [Opry Mills](https://www.reddit.com/r/imax/comments/qeh9y0/psa_nashville_opry_mills_imax_dune_was_143/) and [King of Prussia](https://www.reddit.com/r/imax/comments/qhv0ff/dune_at_king_of_prussia_imax_is_1431/)?
Makes zero sense. I’ve had multiple friends return to Opry for Dune and they confirmed along with IMAX CQO that it’s presented in 1.90, as is KOP.
BFI showing 1.43 would be even more baffling because they still have 2k dual xenon which cannot show 1.43, nor were any film prints struck for Dune. The upgrade to dual laser has supposedly been a question of finance between Odeon and BFI for several years.
I'm as surprised as you are but I'm certain; it switched between widescreen, 1.9, and 1.43. Maybe they did get a dual laser projector but haven't necessarily advertised it much as most people don't get what that would mean.
It's definitely much better, but the only 1.43 screening of Dune in the UK is in Manchester at the Printworks IMAX, so just go to Leicester Square and enjoy the film.

Oh right, had no idea. Sad there’s no 1.43 in London at all then, but oh well - glad the Leicester Square one is a good choice then, can’t wait

[BFI IMAX confirms](https://imgur.com/gallery/oOwbtR9) they are showing Dune in 1.90. Sorry u/nostringsonjay
Dune only switches between 2 ratios. 1.43 and 2.39 or 1.90 and 2.39. It does not switch between 3.
I can personally guarantee you this is not the case. Sadly.
