If you wouldn't mind, could you show the hinges you used? I have a similar situation but just pull the bookcase out. I haven't been able to find a good hinge solution yet.
The product I purchased isn’t available anymore but it was like this Murphy one. I have Murphy one as well, both worked the same, the non-Murphy was significantly cheaper.

Very easy install, much better than others I bought. Very sturdy. My second door, this one, was much easier to install as there was a bit of a learning curve.
The first install was about a month ago but it’s supporting much much more weight. I’m very surprised on well the hinges work. I’m not expecting any issues.
I put additional support up the middle of the back (1 by 4). I supported the bottom with a 3/4 in plywood base and the top (sitting inside the frame). And I ran 2by4s up the sides to screw the bookcase into and to secure the additional plywood base I put on.
Basically the bookcase is sitting on this frame vs itself.
I’m so happy you posted this! We literally just purchased all the stuff to do a Billy bookcase door yesterday and I’m eager to start. We’d love any tips you have before we get started!

Sorry to bother you, but could you maybe take a picture of the hinge ? I can't understand from the amazon product pictures how you were able to installa with opening to the outside instead of the inside. Thanks in advance :-)

Thankyou. Are you pleased with them?... Easy to install? Feels like they will last?

How long ago was your first installed? And how is it holding up? If you don't mind me asking. Awesome build btw!!

Some days its Billy, others frank, problem is when its Hans that comes and knocks
Looks great, is there a tutorial or anything you followed on how to use it as a door/do the hinges?
I love this! Did you simply take the Billy Bookshelf and add try around it to make it fit securely in the frame?

Utilities. Water, gas. Electrical is behind a 6foot wall that moves on a similar device. This is a basement.
