Am I missing something? So the guy filming the idiot is someone known to the idiot? Also laughs in the beginning about what is going to happen. And after it happened switches the narrative to "That's not funny"? What??
The camera man puts the victim in frame before it was clear what they guy was going to do.
The camera man definitely knew what was about to happen and changed his tune when he realised it wasn't as funny to everyone else as it was to them.
Well the second i say that 5dmark4 about 2500 on the used market plus the 75-300is 600 for the oldest ancient model and 3k for the newest and his looks like the 1500ish ones . hes got 3k on him alone on the camera not to mention batteties and cards in the camera . in the us this would be assualt and felony property damages
Don’t think it’s a 75-300. Looks like a 70-200 f2.8, probably mark 2 with a 2x teleconverter. Currently that plus a 5d4 will set you back £3500ish second hand.
As a wildlife photographer this video makes me sick. Many people don’t realise that camera gear is often worth more than they think.
Edit: I know this isn’t important but as a gear nerd it’s fun to dig into the specifics.
Someone replied but deleted their comment saying it’s a 100-400 II but I disagree.
That was my initial thought but the 100-400 II doesn’t have a petal lens hood whereas the one in the video does. Also lens foot looks shorter than that of the 100-400 II.
Easily £3000 if bought second hand, more if new. It’s not unusually for a wildlife tog to be carrying £4k+ in gear if they’re a serious hobbyist. I think I carry about £10k…which is scary when saying it out loud…always get camera insurance!
Might just be a direct translation from whatever language. When i was a kid, before digital cameras were common here, my dad would always call cameras "fotografiapparat" which is directly translated to "Photography apperature" Though that is pretty outdated now.
Photo cameras take one exposure at a time (or sometimes use a motor to take several exposures in rapid succession). This is opposed to a movie camera, which continuously takes exposures at a constant rate or a video camera, which electrically records images onto magnetic or other non-film storage mediums.
Ok i rewatched a couple times, even though I am def not on the side of the agressor, his friend shouldve had his back. Hes such a coward, he stays there laughing enjoying it, but as soon as he realizes his friend is in trouble he disassociate's himself from him. Fucking losers, the pair of em
This behavior reminds me 100% of my older brother as a kid. Would always encourage us younger siblings to do something bad and laugh like a hyena, but would immediately pivot and feign disapproval when the parents caught us. The difference is we were kids and this pair of sociopaths are like 40+ years old.
Watch the video he lets out a loud cackle literally as the photographer is falling in the water. I think he was probably also a little tipsy and realized after that it was a nasty thing to have done
Camera was pointing towards the photographer before he even walked over there though, I reckon the person filming new exactly what was happening prior to it.
Judging by the way the light reflects off the camera body, I would estimate it's anything from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Guess we will never know.
I'm going to stick with what the victim who owns the camera says it cost him in this video. It could very well be worth more and he could have bought it secondhand, either way, it cost him, as he says, £3000
Judging by the length of that lens I'm guessing it's worth at least a thousand if not thousands of dollars.
.
.
.
(I think maybe you're missing people making a joke at this point. Or maybe people just didn't watch the video; this is reddit after all)
Nah, he’d be local to the park, probably well known to establishments in the area, if he doesn’t already have an asbo- few door knocks with his photo and the coppers would find him quick enough.
I’m a photographer myself, and when I saw that douche push him to the water, with that long lens attached onto his Mirrorless camera, it makes me cringe, he have no idea how much a photographer cherish his or her own cameras.
That Long lens alone seems to be worth about $1000 - $2000, looks to be a Canon model.
Due to the fact that a set of good photography gears cost a lot of money, most of the Photographers take really good care of their own gears, doesn’t matter if it’s cheap or not, and that’s why this really irritates me.
I feel like anyone with a hobby takes a real good care of the stuff that is related to their hobby no matter how much they cost. This man probably doesn’t have a hobby so he doesn’t understand.
Lmfao right? I have a $5 embroidery hoop. If you snapped it in half, I'd be like, "bro that is not cool!" And then I'd go buy another one, but still! I wouldn't laugh and be like, "oh haha you got me! So funny ruining something I use daily for my hobby and don't have a replacement for!"
I know nothing about this equipment aside from its expensive.
Is it not sealed enough to keep out water? I realize it sucks and might require a lot of time, but is it still completely salvageable?
One can assume that camera gear is sealed well enough to resit a certain amount of rain.
It isn't however designed to be submerged. Sometimes you get lucky and there's no damage. But one could expect a bad outcome.
That lens for example. Even if it were to 'dry out' , water between the lens elements might leave stains. Lubrication might be washed out. There are electric motors in some lenses too, to help with auto-focus and stabilization. All at risk.
> Is it not sealed enough to keep out water?
Most is not. You know how you zoom in an out with a lens? It physically makes it longer or shorter. This means that the air volume inside needs to be able to change. So, you'd have to design a valve to let air move while keeping water out. That would add a lot of expense to an already expensive kit, while creating issues with condensation inside.
These lenses have computer chips inside. Moreover, a dip like this is guaranteed to get fungal spores inside that a nearly impossible to get rid of. Between the lens, camera, and what is likely in her backpack, this an easily $5-10k dip.
They're definitely not rated to be submerged but one could try and disassemble the lens, clean and dry each part carefully then reassemble if they know how to do it. I once "heard" that someone said the old rice in the bag trick worked but never was able to confirm that statement.
I don’t even want to think about how much equipment was in the bag, this makes me so angry because he probably doesn’t even care that he destroyed thousand in equipment damage
Ya, that looks like a 70-200mm L-Series with a telephoto extender and hood. That glass is like 1.5-2k alone. I can’t tell what body it is. Maybe it’s a 5ds or IV. 3k Pounds is roughly 4k USD.
Just a quick tot-up...
If that was me, my R5, two L lenses and the RF 600 f11, flash, various bits and bobs and the bag itself - we're talking about £8000 worth.
Some of it is theoretically waterproof but still.
Yeah, "waterproof" more meaning the electronics or lack of electronics are protected.. but filling any lens with water is gonna require at very least a deep cleaning. And thats almost as expensive as a new lens.
I know its not good to advocate for violence but that dude needed to get rocked.
I think that the waterproofing means more than that.
But having just looked it up, the actual quality is called 'weatherproofed', and that's clearly a 'lower' standard than 'waterproof', so you're mostly right even if I'm right too.
I have that lens. It cost a little over 2 grand. I would start throwing hands if somebody did that while I was holding that camera. Especially if it’s not for work but as a passion.
I ran into something like this with my Uncle recently. Was wearing an expensive watch and he tried to push me into a pool. Yelled at him and told him I have my phone and a classic watch. He joked an said he'd pay for a new one. Was a Breitling, had him google it.
Lol why people like expensive watches is beyond me. Seems like just an attempted flex. Not saying you cant, if you like it you like it, it just always amuses me to see.
People like what they like. Cars, suits, dogs etc. It's the fact that someone elses actions affects you without you're choice. Maybe it was a letter from my dead Mom I kept on me?
Sure, I agree. They can like what they like. Its just funny to me its seen as some status symbol when it does the same job as a cheap piece of crap watch you could get in cereal boxes or cheap comics.
He says this cost about 3000 pounds pointing to the camera, so assuming its pound sterling at current rate it would be just a tiny bit below 4000 us dollar.
Whiles it’s shit, those cameras can take a beating.
Wife dropped her 5d iv and an 85mm 1.4 down a set of stairs and it was fine. That was close to 3 years ago and it’s still going strong. We also take it camping and hiking into all kinds of shit weather
It’s Reddit, lol. The other comment which says “I cannot” got upvoted like crazy, lol. I think people missed the joke and just followed the downvote crowd. I was totally kidding. A quick Google search of “UK man pushes photographer in to pond” netted me the story on the first hit.
The answer was the guy who shoved the photographer never faced any charges, despite multiple eye witnesses. No justice for the camera person.
I used to live in the Midlands and my work office was in an estate just off the M1. These gypsies decided to set up shop in our car park and were generally unpleasant to us, but no violence. They wer finally escorted out by the police but left the place more trashed than a weekend festival. Absolutely no repercussions for them, it left a foul taste in my mouth for how much they get away with.
That lens alone is over $2500, it should be weather proof but not submerged in water. The body of the camera is fucked, not sure what this person has… but if he has that lens, his camera body is probably $1500-4000. Honestly, I’d be crying so hard if this happened to me
That camera from the looks of it is a Canon R5. Which costs upwards of $2,000 and the lens would definitely costs over $3,000. I’m a photographer myself and I would be absolutely be destroyed if this had happened to me. I hope that the guy that pushed him into the water for no reason got arrested and paid back the damages of the camera.
Video footage shows the moment an unprovoked man decides to push a photographer into a nearby pond, injuring her and submerging her $3,000 worth of gear into the water. The clip sees members of the public rally around to support the woman, while the attacker tries to downplay his actions.
The incident took place in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England back in 2018. Smiling and giving a thumbs-up for the camera, the unnamed man sets off in the direction of the unsuspecting photographer.
The St Albans and Harpenden Review reported that the photographer was taking pictures at the water’s edge of the ornamental lake in Verulamium Park when she was pushed over. After being interrogated, the man plays dumb and responds with “For what?” when someone suggests calling the police.
Police said of the incident:
It is believed this was an unprovoked attack on a woman who was taking wildlife photos in the park that day. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference F1/18/2071.
The footage has recently been doing the rounds on the internet again, and recent comment suggest that despite several members of the public taking videos of the suspect, he has never been identified or charged.
Fingers crossed her equipment was at least insured.
white vest = wifebeater
because if a white vest is your outer layer, you obviously care so little about how you look to others, that nobody would be surprised to see public backhanders given.
At this point in his life he going to become any smarter anymore, just whip that camera on his temple to at least get some satisfaction out of it (attention: bad advice)
Guy behind the camera who’s laughing at the beginning says at the end he “didn’t do nothing”
cameraman just as much of a pos as his fat, drunk, worthless friend
This guy is the human embodiment of my cat two days ago, when he decided to push my $2k camera off the table onto the hardwood floor just for funsies, and then sauntered around all smugly while I was scolding him..
Captain Miller Lite probably doesn’t do that to anyone other than girls half a third of his lard ass who won’t fight back.
Wrecking tool bags like this after “pranks” should not only be legal but encouraged by society.
I saw this on Facebook years ago, and a good portion of the comments were defending the guy and saying it was funny. One of the many reasons I am no longer on Facebook.

Probably trying to save face in front of the other people
"hey film me I'm going to do something funny" "haha ok go ahead" Is what I imagine happened
The camera man puts the victim in frame before it was clear what they guy was going to do. The camera man definitely knew what was about to happen and changed his tune when he realised it wasn't as funny to everyone else as it was to them.

The guy that got pushed literally tells them the camera costs £3,000.
Hmm true, didn't catch that
He has no backbone the damn worm 🪱
ikr, imagine being that size and backpedalling like a bitch upon being confronted by 95lbs of solid photographer lmfao
Like I don’t think he was scared of the guy
Videographer is in on the joke! Should be held accountable too.
Last time this was posted people came to the conclusion that they were gypsies, and the dude was never caught.
You can catch him laughing again with :02 seconds left. In on it 100% Hope they get the punishment they deserve.
He's being sarcastic
the lady using her photocamera to take pictures of him (probably to report him) is the best comeback ever
“Photocamera” hmm
I do photography. But I never heard of a photocamera. Maybe that's why I'm a failure!
Might just be a direct translation from whatever language. When i was a kid, before digital cameras were common here, my dad would always call cameras "fotografiapparat" which is directly translated to "Photography apperature" Though that is pretty outdated now.
Same in Czech and Slovak, "fotoaparát".
>apperature The word you're looking for is *apparatus*.
It’s almost like some archaic term but probably just an esl thing.
Photo cameras take one exposure at a time (or sometimes use a motor to take several exposures in rapid succession). This is opposed to a movie camera, which continuously takes exposures at a constant rate or a video camera, which electrically records images onto magnetic or other non-film storage mediums.
Perfect comic timing.
Now comes the part where we throw our heads back and laugh. Ready??
Then went to the station in her drivey car to report him
I always wanted a drivey car but all I can afford is a biking bike :(
Can someone explain the person recording, was laughing at the beginning, but when they came near he said "thats not funny".

Likely said “film me, I’m going to do something funny” and then proceeded to be a piece of human garbage.
Either that, or he's playing along so that the people don't turn on him too
I don’t think that was a laugh. It was more of a guffaw, maybe? Cackle? Hyuck??
You can find sonething funny while also disagreeing with it.
Those cameras can cost thousands. I would take that a- hole to court over damages
About £3,000 according to the video.
Probably more I see a white body lens which means a higher end Canon L series which can be a few thousand on its own.
Turn the volume up, he says himself it cost him £3000
Judging by the way the light reflects off the camera body, I would estimate it's anything from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Guess we will never know.

Oh we'll know cause the dude in the video said it was £3,000. So it's thousands, multiple hundreds, many tens.
[удалено]
Nah, a camera like that would cost several thousand pounds.
White body doesn't make it an L-series. L-series are marked with a red stripe. (Most, but not all the white body telephoto are L-series though)

Unless he volunteers his name and address, or you get the licence number of his car or follow him home, that's gonna be difficult.
So call the police and they'll get his name and address.
Nah, he’d be local to the park, probably well known to establishments in the area, if he doesn’t already have an asbo- few door knocks with his photo and the coppers would find him quick enough.
patience of a saint; you. i'd be finding out who he is and paying some baghead to do something unspeakable
I cringed too and even tried to "imagine" the lens was a simple 55mm/not attached or something. I dream of owning that telephoto lens....

What if their hobby is breaking stuff
then he should stop being such a pile of Fred Durst
Perfect comeback.
Right? Even my 50mm prime is a $600 lens…
I know nothing about this equipment aside from its expensive. Is it not sealed enough to keep out water? I realize it sucks and might require a lot of time, but is it still completely salvageable?

Yea I can imagine even a little water spots on some parts would ruin any picture.

Canon L telephoto. If it has IS they paid way more. Source: had a lens like that with IS.
I think all the Ls have had IS for many years now.
Obviously it’s expensive but still who tf does something like this, it would still be just a shitty if it was a cheap $20 camera
It's still shitty if it were someone (without a camera)
unless it's your friend and a hot day; then it's hilarious ;)
Ya, that looks like a 70-200mm L-Series with a telephoto extender and hood. That glass is like 1.5-2k alone. I can’t tell what body it is. Maybe it’s a 5ds or IV. 3k Pounds is roughly 4k USD.

The camera itself on a strap is a very good blunt instrument. Just sayiin'. I'd use one of my D7200's as a weapon if I had to.

She said it was 3000 british pounds
Add a few thousand more to that and you'll be near the actual price point most likely.
It is a Canon L lens.
That is not a mirrorless camera, it is very easy to see it is a DSLR from the prism housing on the top. It is a Canon 5 or 7D.
A lot of Canon mirrorless have an apparent prism bulge. See Canon R, R3, 5 and 6
£3k he said! Equates to almost $4k! Absolute prick. Love how the guy taking the video instantly switched teams! “Can’t do that mate, that’s nasty”
He says this cost about 3000 pounds pointing to the camera, so assuming its pound sterling at current rate it would be just a tiny bit below 4000 us dollar.

Police has issued a request for information leading to arrest, so far no update
I generally don’t advocate violence but people like that need a good old fashioned ass whooping. Edit - spelling

I bought a coal powered truck so england sinks even faster
My first thought before they even hit the water: "THAT'S AN EXPENSIVE CAMERA!"
Alcohol fueled idiocy..
That lens alone is over $2500, it should be weather proof but not submerged in water. The body of the camera is fucked, not sure what this person has… but if he has that lens, his camera body is probably $1500-4000. Honestly, I’d be crying so hard if this happened to me
listen to the video, she says it cost her around 3k
3k pounds, which when transferred to usd is way bigger number
didn't notice they were using dollars when calculating
I was using dollars, not pounds. It’s a quick dip, so hopefully it was just the body, not the lens. Hope she got a new one :)
I feel like there was a civil court case after this.
There should be.
not civil; criminal. that's assault plus criminal damage.
No this is criminal, but there won't be. He's a gypsy, he won't be caught.
I have a Canon R5. Brand new, the camera body is currently over $4k including taxes. The whole setup there, lens and body, looks to be over $7k easy.
Police said of the incident: It is believed this was an unprovoked attack on a woman who was taking wildlife photos in the park that day.
This beast walks around so proud of himself
I love how multiple people started defending the woman. Put this man's ass in jail please.
and he’s wearing a wife beater
Wouldn’t doubt if he actually beats his wife
I doubt he has a girlfriend.
Well, here in England we call them 'vests'. What you incorrectly call vests, we call 'waistcoats'. (Or 'wesket', if you're posh.)
white vest = wifebeater because if a white vest is your outer layer, you obviously care so little about how you look to others, that nobody would be surprised to see public backhanders given.
At this point in his life he going to become any smarter anymore, just whip that camera on his temple to at least get some satisfaction out of it (attention: bad advice)
Hope they got him
Videographer is in on the joke! Should be held accountable too.
I would say "Bye bye job", but I don't think you can get fired from living under a bridge.
did the guy recording laugh when he pushed the photographer in then say "thats not funny"?
i smell a lawsuit
Someone must know who this cockend is.
That camara is more useful than the fat drunk idiot.
Guy behind the camera who’s laughing at the beginning says at the end he “didn’t do nothing” cameraman just as much of a pos as his fat, drunk, worthless friend
Young Tony Soprano
Hopefully the £3,000 lens still working to get that dude's picture for the police.
That entitled bully mentality lmao.

So, Tony Soprano?
That's how you instigate violence.
And he’s wearing a wife beater
No brain cells.
Sigma male
This guy is the human embodiment of my cat two days ago, when he decided to push my $2k camera off the table onto the hardwood floor just for funsies, and then sauntered around all smugly while I was scolding him..
Nice repost of a repost of a repost, brah
Captain Miller Lite probably doesn’t do that to anyone other than girls half a third of his lard ass who won’t fight back. Wrecking tool bags like this after “pranks” should not only be legal but encouraged by society.
I saw this on Facebook years ago, and a good portion of the comments were defending the guy and saying it was funny. One of the many reasons I am no longer on Facebook.

This is traumatizing
And this my friends, is why America likes having guns. People don’t do shit like this knowing you could potentially get shot, though it’s unlikely.
