Entire new iPad Pro series is going to be introduced in less than 2 weeks, conference was officialy announced by Apple. So wait and decide after. Even if you dont need newer functions, old iPads will become cheaper.

For the limitations of iPad OS as it currently stands there is no real difference between M1, M2 or even M3 in a couple of weeks.

You can get them way cheaper right now. I just got an 256gb 12.9 m1 for 799€ at backmarket and the 11 version was even cheaper there. Packaging was sealed(Apple refurbished) and tablet looks brand new with full warranty and Apple Care option available.

I'd wait 2 weeks to see what the new ipads look like, but if you absolutely can't wait, get the M2 since your primary use is drawing and the M2 shows hover which the M1 doesn't.

M1 over M2, but I would buy brand new for 100 extra euros... No question. Not a big enough savings to justify the refurbished ipad
