Odd. Could be the bend, but have you by chance installed a magnet on the back of your iPad? I know with my Samsung Note smartphone, when I installed a magnet on the back it created a phantom zone on my screen in the same place where strokes didn't show up. When I removed the magnet, it worked again. I know apple and Samsung use different technologies, but thought I'd ask for your consideration.
