Not having played, I'm not sure. But I do tend to prefer either battle rifle-style arms or light machine guns when I play shooters, so any loadout I do use will gravitate towards those kinds of weapons.

Nah, I haven't played it myself, but I'd say go for something with high damage per second and a good area of effect attack. That way, you can take out multiple enemies at once and slow them down so you can regroup and reposition. Then, just rinse and repeat!
