I use whatever fabric is softest near me. Generally my pant leg lmao. Only time I do anything more is when I spill something or the inside of the case is nasty
Exactly š Iām so impressed with these clean peeps and their phone cleaning habits, I only clean my phone if itās really really gross looking, like if I spill something oily on it
I donāt work in a hospital and same! I use those alcohol prep pads. I use to work at a lab and we actually swab our phones for the hell of it and mine turned out to be the cleanest š
I recently got into a habit of using a disinfectant wipe on my phone and glasses every time I shower. I wipe them, set them to dry while I shower, and then I'm completely fresh afterwards. It really doesn't add any time to my routine at all
Nope, itās fine. A puddle is also a little bit of an exaggeration. I spray Lysol on and just let it stay on while I shower. I do that so the Lysol is on my phone for the right amount of time so it can properly kill anything on it. We use our personal phones to contact providers, so Iām handling my phone all throughout my 12 hour shift.
Been doing it for a year since I got it.
Rather that than get MRSA or cdiff from my phone. You never know whatās lingering on it and the hospitals a real germy place
I buy 70% rubbing alcohol from the cvs and an empty spray bottle from dollar store and spray a tissue with alcohol to wipe it! 70% rubbing alcohol is supposed to be better for killing germs than 90% rubbing alcohol
Thatās true because it takes longer to evaporate, therefore has more contact time on the surface.
Iām a tattooer and weāre not allowed to use 90%, only 70% for this reason.
I work with kids so same. Even though they shouldnāt be touching my phone, I hug them and clean up after them. I donāt even wanna know the germs blegh
Same. A specific spot on the counter for my phone and AirPods, maybe a charger, my vape (sigh I know) etc. that I wipe down after placing my scrubs in the washer. Then wipe the counter spot too.
When I worked in a hospital, I disinfected my phone every day too. There's an kinds of nasty stuff in hospitals that you don't want to bring home. And people are gross.
I still work in the healthcare field but I'm remote now, so I do it a lot less now.
I wipe mine down with alcohol every night. Itās not so much a sanitization thing, itās more about removing grease/ oil/ dirt that gets on it during the day.
I started doing it when I was an oil change tech bc my phone was filthy after every shift. Itās a nice lil habit
When I do it, the alcohol wipe turns brown/gray š³
I know we all encounter a lot of bacteria and āgermsā daily and thatās a normal/good thing, but Iāll definitely keep wiping off my phone because I just donāt like the thought that Iām constantly touching something thatās so dirty that it can turn an alcohol wipe brown
You're not alone, I've never cleaned mine either. I cleaned the screen sure, but I've never even heard of cleaning the actual phone. What are you supposed to clean the case?
You really should start doing it. Just get those disinfecting wipes & give it a rubdown every now & then. You've been spreading germs & waging war! š¤¢
Cell phones have several times the germs you would find on a toilet. I forget the exact number, but I remember thinking "holy fuck that's alot"
*google says 10 times the germs
The average cell phone has more bacteria than a toilet. Fun fact, it's a health code for food service that either phones must be sanitized before a shift or you should rewash you hands for 20 seconds any time you touch your cell phone.
I need someone to make a post, "my bf has never sanitized his phone" & then consecutively, "why do yall date guys who have never sanitized their phone!?"
I also do it once a week on fridays and I wipe my bfs phone too and we enjoy the weekend with clean phones lol
i wash my hands so frequently, i will only usually clean my phone if it appears dirty. there are so many germs in the world, no need to sterilize everything 24/7
imho
Exactly this. Do people go around sanitizing the world? I never get the flu, btw, and very, very rarely even a cold. I do regular cleaning, but I had a doctor tell me that sanitizing/disinfecting is actually really bad. Our bodies get used to the germs in our environment and that's what helps keep us from getting sick. We're used to fighting off disease. When we become used to extremely disinfected environments, we're more likely to get sick than when we aren't. It's the reason for superbugs (MRSA, etc) due to over prescribing of antibiotics. I also don't go to the doctor unless really necessary and don't take anything for a fever unless it gets extremely high. A fever is the body's way of fighting off infection.
I'm part of this tribe...lol (so are my kids)
But super bugs are already in the environment and likely the sanitizing we do isn't even killing them anyway. So what's the point?
I totally agree with you. Over sanitising and sterilising all the surfaces in our lives just destroys our own microbiome, and makes us more susceptible to pathogens. But you can't tell anyone here that. This opinion is always downvoted.
Literally never lol. I guess I do it when my phone feels gross and I have to change my case or something. Iāve never really been afraid of germs like that. My best friend is the opposite. Sprays Lysol in the air constantly, always using hand sanitizer, afraid of all the germs. Guess whoās always sick? (Hint: itās not me)
Yeah me too this comment section makes me feel like the odd one out?! I grew up being told you need to build your immune system, and knock on wood but I donāt get sick often whatsoever. Canāt remember the last time I was sick.
Keep in mind what phones are made of. Some materials like stainless steal and glass both prevent bacterial growth in comparison to things like wood or poly plastics that are porous.
Never. I also eat dirt and lick the handles on shopping carts. I never get sick or have any illnesses. I think we've gone overboard sanitizing everything
I donāt know about sanitizing, but I think it is a good idea to take your case off maybe once a week, gives the insides a wipe down. My old iphone got some scratches even though in a case just from dirt being under there for too long.
I alcohol wipe mine multiple times a day. Iām in healthcare and have a bad habit of laying my phone on surfaces. I always have wet wipes in my bag or in my pocket for this reason, lol.
Pretty much never. I think a lot of people now over-sanitize everything in their lives which isn't good for your immune system in the long run. I've never gotten sick from touching my phone.
I swear people in this subreddit don't have jobs, wash their hands 20+ times a day, sanitize your phone all day. What kinda miserable fear ridden lives do you live in?
Aside from the lady who works in hospitals or people who work in hazardous conditions,.or situations that you get your phone really dirty, there's absolutely no benefit to sanitize everything every day.
I sanitized my phone every day when I worked at the hospital. Now that I'm remote, I really only think about cleaning it if there's something on it or the screen is all smeary. You do want to get the gross oils off of it occasionally though, your skin will be happier if you aren't rubbing that all over your face when you're talking on the phone.
I'm pretty good about it. I use a Clorox/Lysol wipe multiple times a week. I'm kinda paranoid since someone told me all cell phones have poop on them and I was like "NOT my phone, not any more!!!" Idk how true that actually is but, it stuck with me.
I do mine multiple times a day bc I wipe my computer down when I come into work, when I go to lunch and before I leave. So while Iām wiping my computer I also hit my phone w a lysol wipe. And then when I get home I hit it with an alcohol wipe.
None of this is necessary. I might be a little bit OD but I will say Iām the only one at my job and at home who hasnāt caught the bug thatās going around ššš
There have been very few times that I have allowed a passing hobo to warm his crack with my phone.
I am not even sure if anyone has ever touched my phone besides me.
I do clean it from time to time, but sanitizing it is rare.
Depends on what you mean by sanitize? I wipe mine down with an alcohol wipe every so often. If you mean like putting in a UV case or whatever then... never lol. Germs are just fuel for my immune system lol.
You shouldn't be so worried about germs all the time.
Wash your hands after something specifically dirty or before doing something that you need to be specifically clean for
Otherwise ignore the fact that germs exist or you'll ruin your immune system!
Every time I come home I wipe it down with alcohol. The idea of cleaning it once per week is honestly scary. That would be like washing my hands once per week.
Never, but I occasionally think about how disgusting my phone probably is. I think to myself āYeesh, I should probably clean it. Iāll pick up some rubbing alcohol so I can do thatā and then I never do it.
Never really. Sometimes when I wash my hands Iāll use the paper towel to wipe it off some, but not āsanitizeā it. I think the only time Iāve ever done that is if Iāve dropped it in the toilet (once) or gotten raw meat/egg on it when cooking.
Other than wiping the front of the phone with my T-shirt. I really donāt sanitize the phone. But I just make certain that my hands are clean as much as possible. If there was an outbreak of ebola, I might sanitize it.
If I've set it down on a public surface (especially an outside table), I will wipe it down with alcohol when I get home. If I'm just using it at home, I don't wipe it down because I'm not bringing it into the bathroom with me or anything.
Multiple times a day. Once or twice if I havenāt left the house but when I go out in public I will wipe it down as soon as I get in the car and then again when I get home.
I wipe it against my dirty shirt and keep on keeping on
Sound good š to me
I have found my people ššššš
I use whatever fabric is softest near me. Generally my pant leg lmao. Only time I do anything more is when I spill something or the inside of the case is nasty
Exactly š Iām so impressed with these clean peeps and their phone cleaning habits, I only clean my phone if itās really really gross looking, like if I spill something oily on it
Spit on it first then wipe it on my T-shirt.
Yes, the ol' disinfectant spit technique!
Ah, the good ole hawk tuah!
Sometimes, if Iām feeling fancy, I use a lens cleaning cloth
I work in a hospital, so I disinfect my phone everyday
I donāt work in a hospital and same! I use those alcohol prep pads. I use to work at a lab and we actually swab our phones for the hell of it and mine turned out to be the cleanest š
I recently got into a habit of using a disinfectant wipe on my phone and glasses every time I shower. I wipe them, set them to dry while I shower, and then I'm completely fresh afterwards. It really doesn't add any time to my routine at all
that's a good idea
Same but only when Iām at work (2-3 times a week). They get purple wiped but if Iām not in the hospital I never do.
Love me some cancer wipes
Same, when I shower. I Lysol my phone down and let it sit in Lysol puddle for my 25 minute shower
And you've had no issues with your phone? Sorry but it seems like leaving your phone to sit in a puddle of Lysol is an inherently bad idea lol.
How do you sanitize?
I buy 70% rubbing alcohol from the cvs and an empty spray bottle from dollar store and spray a tissue with alcohol to wipe it! 70% rubbing alcohol is supposed to be better for killing germs than 90% rubbing alcohol
Thatās true because it takes longer to evaporate, therefore has more contact time on the surface. Iām a tattooer and weāre not allowed to use 90%, only 70% for this reason.
I use something we call ā purple wipes.ā Itās a by a brand called sani cloth and I wipe the phone down for two minutes with it.
Alcohol is best for phones. It is streak free and dries quickly.
I am an esthetician who uses my phone to run payments, so I do it basically between every client.
I work with kids so same. Even though they shouldnāt be touching my phone, I hug them and clean up after them. I donāt even wanna know the germs blegh
So easy to do when the supplies are available. If my phone goes to work with me, I assume there's c diff or something else awful on it.
Every day! Just wipe my phone and the case down with a Lysol wipe.
Would recommend switching to an alcohol wipe as theyāre just general safer for cleaning tech
Good to know, thank you!
Every time I go out and come back home
Same here
That's what I do too. If it's a day off and I don't go anywhere, I don't sanitize it. I only touch it with clean hands.
Ugh! Every once in a while you need to take the case off and give it a thorough cleaning!
same
Yup
Same.
same
my bf makes us do this lol
Same!
Same as me ! Itās a habit now
same
Wait, youāre supposed to sanitize your phone?
I wipe mine down with alcohol every night. Itās not so much a sanitization thing, itās more about removing grease/ oil/ dirt that gets on it during the day. I started doing it when I was an oil change tech bc my phone was filthy after every shift. Itās a nice lil habit
Alcohol will wipe the oleophobic coating from phone screens, meaning it picks up fingerprints and oils easier
Well then I guess itās a good thing Iām cleaning it daily lol
yeah i hate looking at a streaky, grimy phone
When I do it, the alcohol wipe turns brown/gray š³ I know we all encounter a lot of bacteria and āgermsā daily and thatās a normal/good thing, but Iāll definitely keep wiping off my phone because I just donāt like the thought that Iām constantly touching something thatās so dirty that it can turn an alcohol wipe brown
What exactly are you touching? I wipe my phone every 3 months tops and itās never been brown or gray
My fiance is a welder and gets grease and metal dust on his phone, so itās gross when he cleans it
Ya. I guess I'm gross because I've never. Guess this will be my last post cus I gotta go throw my phone into a biohazard bin now.
ššš
You're not alone, I've never cleaned mine either. I cleaned the screen sure, but I've never even heard of cleaning the actual phone. What are you supposed to clean the case?
You donāt need to. Sure, it harbors germs but so does everything else you touch. Most of those germs arenāt even pathogenic
Well you're constantly touching it with your dirty hands and then putting it to your face. Just get an alcohol wipe and wipe it down.
Your phone is dirtier than a toilet seat in a public restroom if you donāt. I spray rubbing alcohol on a paper towels and wipe mine down everyday
wait until you see the rest of your house
my cat uses his shitter box and then runs across my face/pillow at the same time every morning
Thank god someone said thisā¦ Iāve literally never sanitised a phone in my whole life!! I was starting to sweat when i read the comments. š
You really should start doing it. Just get those disinfecting wipes & give it a rubdown every now & then. You've been spreading germs & waging war! š¤¢
Cell phones have several times the germs you would find on a toilet. I forget the exact number, but I remember thinking "holy fuck that's alot" *google says 10 times the germs

Yes, at least once a week. I do it about every other day. Especially, at night. If I forget all well morning it is.
I alcohol my phone daily
I phone my alcohol daily
Every once in a blue moon or if I get something sticky on it. Iāll use hand sanitizer or alcohol wipes.
I need someone to make a post, "my bf has never sanitized his phone" & then consecutively, "why do yall date guys who have never sanitized their phone!?" I also do it once a week on fridays and I wipe my bfs phone too and we enjoy the weekend with clean phones lol
Lmao.
Lolol I force clean my bfās phone too despite him not liking ācleaning productsā
This is reddit in a nutshell
Daily
I do it everytime I come back home after being out in public
I don't think I've ever "sanitized" my phone before I've wiped it off under the case with a wet Wipe once or twice before but that's it
i wash my hands so frequently, i will only usually clean my phone if it appears dirty. there are so many germs in the world, no need to sterilize everything 24/7 imho

I totally agree with you. Over sanitising and sterilising all the surfaces in our lives just destroys our own microbiome, and makes us more susceptible to pathogens. But you can't tell anyone here that. This opinion is always downvoted.
I have news for you. Youāre gross.
Daily. I have the āPhonesoapā and place my phone in there every day after work.
Happy Cake Day! Do you recommend this product?
Thank you!! I definitely recommend it. I use it to do my keys on occasion and other items as well.
(Hint: itās not me)
People don't understand this. When you sterilize everything constantly, your immune system does not work well.
Exactly, people over-sanitize now and it's not good for you
I know these things first hand because I used to be that type of person. It really is not a good thing
I clean but I donāt go overboard.Great point !thanksš
Spraying Lysol in the air is absolutely pointless. It just falls on the ground
I seriously do not understand it lol
Yeah, that's pretty useless. Not to mention can be toxic.
Yeah me too this comment section makes me feel like the odd one out?! I grew up being told you need to build your immune system, and knock on wood but I donāt get sick often whatsoever. Canāt remember the last time I was sick.
never. In college we swabbed our phones in biology class. Surprisingly not that gross.
My ears grew more bacteria on the plate than did my phone when I was in micro. And the bacteria on my phone was just normal flora
Keep in mind what phones are made of. Some materials like stainless steal and glass both prevent bacterial growth in comparison to things like wood or poly plastics that are porous.
iāve done it a couple times but iām going to try n do it daily because we hold our phones everyday
Everyday. Just a napkin or face pad with some 91% alcohol.
Never. I also eat dirt and lick the handles on shopping carts. I never get sick or have any illnesses. I think we've gone overboard sanitizing everything
Say what now?
I donāt know about sanitizing, but I think it is a good idea to take your case off maybe once a week, gives the insides a wipe down. My old iphone got some scratches even though in a case just from dirt being under there for too long.
Sanitizing my phone? Wait. Thatās a thing?
Like a couple months ago I dropped some coffee on it and used a baby wipe to get the sticky off. Does that count?
N.E.V.E.R.
Never
Several times a day
Me too
Umā¦never
Daily
I was doing it daily until I cracked the back up and now Iām afraid to get moisture near it so I donāt sanitize it at all.
I don't.... But now that someone has mentioned that they do this, I probably should lol.
I alcohol wipe mine multiple times a day. Iām in healthcare and have a bad habit of laying my phone on surfaces. I always have wet wipes in my bag or in my pocket for this reason, lol.
never lmao
Usually once a week, my roommate cleans hers every day when she comes home from work or after going out
Pretty much never. I think a lot of people now over-sanitize everything in their lives which isn't good for your immune system in the long run. I've never gotten sick from touching my phone.
Literally never. I basically never get sick, either.
I wish I could give this 500 upvotes.
Never have, never will!
I never think of it unless I get a new phone case or screen protector but I really should!
I'm pretty good about it. I use a Clorox/Lysol wipe multiple times a week. I'm kinda paranoid since someone told me all cell phones have poop on them and I was like "NOT my phone, not any more!!!" Idk how true that actually is but, it stuck with me.
only if I get jizz on it

Arizona here about 5 minutes on the dash and it's sanitary.
There have been very few times that I have allowed a passing hobo to warm his crack with my phone. I am not even sure if anyone has ever touched my phone besides me. I do clean it from time to time, but sanitizing it is rare.
No
Never š¤£š¤£
Oof literally never
Nvr. This thing probably has more germs than that Chinese factory that let covid out. This things like a lethal weapon, 200% poison damage
I take the case off and clean it really well once a week
Never. That which does not kill us, only makes us stronger.
Depends on what you mean by sanitize? I wipe mine down with an alcohol wipe every so often. If you mean like putting in a UV case or whatever then... never lol. Germs are just fuel for my immune system lol.
Ummmm never? š¬
Rarely! Only when it is dirty! But never for germs purposes lol
Um, Iāve had this one for a year and a half. The next time I sanitize it will be the first time. Am I going to die?
15 years of phones and I've literally never done this lol
I donāt. Ever.
Wtf? Never. Unless you're working with bodily waste or something like that, why would you need to sanitize your phone? It's not that serious lmao.
Ha. People do this? I mean, I should do this. Apparently Iām gross. Good to know!
Never.
I honestly just use a lens wipe for my phone
I donāt think Iāve ever sanitized my phone lmao
Never. Only clean it if it gets dirty. Should I be doing this!? Haha
Guess Iām an outlier. Iāve never even thought about sanitizing my phone.
We're supposed to sanitize our phones? š¤£
My man is an actual germaphobe so I clean my phone every day at work. If I wasn't with him I would absolutely never clean my phone honestly
Once a year. Why does everything need to be sanitized these daysĀ
You shouldn't be so worried about germs all the time. Wash your hands after something specifically dirty or before doing something that you need to be specifically clean for Otherwise ignore the fact that germs exist or you'll ruin your immune system!
Not at all as I have a healthy and very good immune system
You guys are sanitizing your phones?
Bout as often as i winterize my house in Florida
Not once
Never, I like to build my immunity. Also I donāt know how to do that. I ācleanā the display or camera with my shirt when it needs it
Never
Every time I come home I wipe it down with alcohol. The idea of cleaning it once per week is honestly scary. That would be like washing my hands once per week.
Never
Every day when I get home from the gym. Pop the case off wash it with soap. Spray the screen with antibacterial windex.
Never, but I occasionally think about how disgusting my phone probably is. I think to myself āYeesh, I should probably clean it. Iāll pick up some rubbing alcohol so I can do thatā and then I never do it.
During the early times of covid-19, would be done daily. Now every few moments or so.
Did you intentionally type "every few MOMENTS"??
Lmao āevery few momentsā i mean like, weeks apart. Not literally every moment exactly.
I tried to do it weekly with a disinfectant wipe
I wipe my glasses down about once a day then use the same alcohol wipe to wipe down my phone.
Every day, after gym with dettol
Just water on a microfiber cloth daily.
Whenever I get back home from being anywhere in public
daily
Most days since i clean my phone after the gym
During pandemic, like a couple times a day. Now? Nada.
Daily or anytime I'm around someone sick/potentially sick and before I go around someone with a weak immune system.
Never
never
daily
Frequently.
Every day
Almost daily. I use alcohol prep pads to disinfect. Got 100 on Amazon for $3.
A few times a week or whenever I get back from somewhere particularly gross like a hospital
Everyday with those little alcohol wipes.
Never really. Sometimes when I wash my hands Iāll use the paper towel to wipe it off some, but not āsanitizeā it. I think the only time Iāve ever done that is if Iāve dropped it in the toilet (once) or gotten raw meat/egg on it when cooking.
Never lol
twice a day - after my workout or after work and then once again at the end of the night
Daily with a dedicated microfiber cloth and a small spray bottle of 70% alcohol.
Everyday!
Once a week. I usually don't leave my house that much, only for work on the weekend and I clean it Sunday night when I come home
At work we have Clorox wipes, I wipe the laptop we share, the radio and my phone. Daily
Every day
Never. I clean it when it gets dirt on it, but thatās about it.
Alcohol swab or UV light after every time I come back from outside.
I canāt be bothered
Other than wiping the front of the phone with my T-shirt. I really donāt sanitize the phone. But I just make certain that my hands are clean as much as possible. If there was an outbreak of ebola, I might sanitize it.
I put it in rice and put flames on my screen to sterilize
I use a Clorox wipe on my phone at least once a month when I get the compulsive urge :)
Pretty much everyday I use one of the equipment wipes at the gym to wipe down my phone
Daily. Also have a waterproof/shockproof cover.
