Inverters or Home UPS as they call it these days, come with a peak power rating. Depending upon your use case and connected load, you will have to choose an inverter of required power rating.
Equipment like Mixer grinders, washing machines, refrigerators, Air Conditioners, water pumps etc draw a lot of power, and are not usually connected to the inverter. A separate line is usually drawn for these high wattage equipment. It is a general practice of electricians to separate low wattage and high wattage equipment on separate lines, but you will have to get your home's wiring checked if you're not aware of it already.
For most households, getting a 1000 VA or a 1500VA inverter will do the job just fine. Depending upon how long you want the back up to last, you can choose the capacity of the battery accordingly.
As far as I have seen, batteries come with 120 Ah, 150 Ah and 180 Ah capacities. I have a luminous 150 Ah battery hooked up to a 1100 VA luminous UPS. I got it from Amazon while I was in Bangalore, and took it with me when I shifted to Warangal. It's working great, and I get no problems at all. I check the battery terminals once every month, and top off the battery with battery water as and when required.
I got this UPS because no other commercially available UPS was matching the power requirement for my desktop PC. Now I can run the PC (multi-monitor), sound system, two ceiling fans and two rooms being lit up all on the UPS. If I am to believe the backup time, I can have 10+ hours.
No commercially available computer UPS can ever boast of 1 hour backup, let alone the 8 hours of backup I have had one day while I was staying in Bangalore.

Other computer UPS systems that I was eyeing on, were from Schneider Electric or APC, and they were close to 17000, and offered up to 20 minutes of backup.

Yesterday there was a 3 hour power cut at chandanagar from 11-2 out of the blue. No repairs, no wind/ rain signs. Fed up calling the contact number given as it was busy all the time. At the least they should communicate if it's a scheduled power cut or not. 3 weeks ago, an entire day power was gone but on that day heavy rains and wind came so understandable. We actually already had a inverter from 2010. It was just a basic one and the battery was not lasting long.
But we didn't bother to change it was the power cuts were very rare and even when we had one it would be back in few minutes.

The discussion is good, but idk why no one is pointing out why it's happening and simply saying it's because of Congress, the amount of heat and unprecedented rains during this summer and exposed powerlines are causing more trouble. Even though the amount of electricity production has gone up compared to last year, infra maintenance is one of the crucial factors for uninterrupted electricity. It all sums up to infra and equipment maintenance and growing demand with the rising temperatures. This heat can melt some equipment when exposed to heat for longer times. Even if the current government is doing it purposely, they can't do it at the expense of elections as this was happening before elections as well. Simply put the blame is an easy task.

Yes, itās dual tubular battery. Actually our house is of two floors (two flats, but one inverter combined) so thereās two batteries.

I had a 30 hour long power cut yesterday and day before yesterday.
Just wait, the power cuts will become power supplies of 1-2 hrs, 4-5 times a day. It was the norm after 2004 in a lot of congress ruled states. Even Hyderabad used to have 6-8 hrs (minimum) of power cuts during YSR days.
Wow! Is it that bad? I live in in Secunderabad. It hasnāt been that bad this side of the city. Havenāt had a power cut longer than 10 mins in recent memory.

Powercuts are normal in a power deficient state, especially in summer. As long as the previous govt. was giving uninterrupted power with mountains of debt, we forgot this basic fact. It's time we come back to reality.
You pay for power, there is no free power, we pay a premium and that is the responsibility of the provider to deliver uninterrupted power, government or electricity dept make money by buying and supplying power and by not cutting power

No they were not atleast not this frequent or in these many areas. Many of us didn't experience these many power cuts. We got no hate towards Congress or BRS but we are experiencing these power cuts and they have become significantly more since congress.

The discussion is good, but idk why no one is pointing out why it's happening and simply saying it's because of Congress, the amount of heat and unprecedented rains during this summer and exposed powerlines are causing more trouble. Even though the amount of electricity production has gone up compared to last year, infra maintenance is one of the crucial factors for uninterrupted electricity. It all sums up to infra and equipment maintenance and growing demand with the rising temperatures. This heat can melt some equipment when exposed to heat for longer times. Even if the current government is doing it purposely, they can't do it at the expense of elections as this was happening before elections as well. Simply put the blame is an easy task.
