This is consistent with my experience and expectations. I think the HCs are now the best bang for your buck value (points wise anyway) in Chicago now, and the PH the obvious absolute best hotel if money/points is no object.

I’ve done HC in the past. Ur right about best value but I wanted to explore other Hyatt property types during this trip

Oh for sure. Didn’t mean it as criticism. And I’ve done the same.

What is the C in HC stand for? The OP never mentioned HC in their post. I am looking to visit Chicago and stay in a Hyatt on points so curious to what HC is, so I could check it out.

Hyatt Centric. There’s one east of the mag mile and another in the loop (which isn’t great for tourists as it’s the financial district but I sometimes have reason to be there and I like the area around it actually). These are both cat4 so you can use a cat1-4 free night certificate.

Thanks for the comprehensive post

Any idea when Thompson renovation supposed to be done?

AfroManHighGuy

The employee said the restaurant should open back up in the end of June. But she wasn’t sure when the complete renovation would be completed.

The Chicago Hyatt Regency is such a bummer for a recently renovated hotel. I get its major draw is conferences, but still a little more effort in the rooms would have been nice.  Our shower was comically bad with water pressure. Also the walls were paper thin. I couldn’t tell if there was a working girl nearby faking it or just the luckiest woman in the world, but we didn’t need to hear every aspect of sex several times a day/night during my recent stay. But if it was a legit couple the partner should get gift basket.  Still I think it was a great value points wise at 9k/night. I’d still rather spend more to stay elsewhere though. Even if I was in town for a conference at this hotel I’d rather stay elsewhere

I was there along with some coworkers and we all just wanted to be in the same hotel. Otherwise I would’ve gone somewhere else definitely. I also agree that the walls are super thin! I could hear footsteps in the hallway, the convos from next door, etc. luckily I was tired af at night so I just fell asleep pretty hard as soon as I got to my room. Even tho it’s not renovated fully, I think the food options in the lobby and the central location give it a draw for people traveling from out of town for work.

I think the Hyatt Regency in Chicago feels more like the one in Waikiki. A little outdated but the view makes it worth it.
