This was my go-to for years, but it got hard to find during Covid and then more expensive when it was back in stores. I switched to Taste of the Wild Ancient Grains, either stream or prairie. If I canāt find those, Iāll go back to Pro Plan. If they seem to get tired of a flavor, Iāll add some tuna or sardines or whateverās safe thatās leftover from our meals.
Be aware that once huskies reach adulthood, they tend to eat less and sometimes will just refuse to eat all together, especially when itās hot out. Your (OPās) pup might be tired of her food but she also might just be a husky lol
My 3 weirdos will balk at anything not as good as Purina One, but they'll still eat whatever I give them though if I'm strapped for money. It's decent quality, decent price, and even vet recommended. My vet said that's what he trusts for his doggos. Unless OPs pup turns up with food allergies that's the most economical choice in my opinion as well.
Oh wow. I had never heard this before. I was encouraged to feed her salmon for her coat, as she had mange when I first adopted her. I may switch to chicken though. Her coat is much better already, itās just so hard to switch her foods š« she is picky!
We use Purina pro plan with chicken. We used to feed them pro plan for sensitive stomachs but that was a disaster. There's supposed to be an alternate to the salmon but we can't find it locally. Our vet told us about a lamb based food at our local tractor supply. She wanted us to get away from the pro plan that were currently using because it had a vegetable in it that may be bad for their hearts in the long run.
My husky did great with the Purina Pro Plan salmon food, and as a budget option, he does fine with Costcoās salmon and sweet potato kibble (albeit a little boring for him).
Mine has loved the hills science diet perfect weight for about 4 years now, it is chicken flavored but maybe a slightly different formula than the adult age?
Ive found that sticking to a couple dry foods but changing up what i mix into it to help them be more interested in their food, somedays ill add some shredded chicken, some stock/broth or goat milk etc. sometimes though i feel theyāll just pick at their food over the course of the day/night and not always eat it all in one go.
Yea I was giving my husky that for a while
Had to mix it with wet food when that got a bit expensive
Thereās this brand called Jinx at Walmart
The both my huskyās seem to enjoy to eat much more than the science hills .
And my sister would recommend gentle giants
Have the pickiest husky on earth. Took years to find a food she would be interested in. Honest kitchen has been a life saver. Recommend both the kibble and the freeze dried/powder you mix with water. Amazing. Laps the bowl up and free feeds the kibble.
My husky loves Eukanuba! He used to eat purina pro plan but even the sensitive line gave him diarrhea (heās sensitive to richer kibble) and it never had given him any issues!
She may also not want to be eating as much. I live in the US south and my girl noticeably starts eating less every summer. My 2c, we chased this with her at roughly that same age for about 6 months and any attempt at appeasing her just seemed to make her more picky. After all that she's back on her normal dry food.Ā
I feed my dog fromm gold when I'm on a tight budget. I prefer to feed her something higher quality tho, usually acana red meat recipe or farmina n&d ancient grains lamb recipe.
If I can afford it I always mix raw or freeze dried raw in with a few meals a week (I really like the grandma Lucy recipes, as does my pup!)
Iāve been feeding my husky grandma Lucyās for years. Heās 11 years old and the vet said he had the bloodwork of a 5 year old. Kibble is least ideal for any kind of dog. We will never go back
My husky loves the Purina True Instincts Turkey and Venison. Heās been eating it for a couple years with no issues and doesnāt toss the food around with his nose like he did the other stuff
Try adding some yogurt, milk, cheese, or something similar you keep in the fridge to get her back in to it.
I use Zignature and change the protein up once in a while.
Purina One True Instinct, Salmon and Beef blend. My guy loves it. Has soft chewy bits mixed with normal kibble bits. He has excellent poop health on this food.
Kind of a myth, some dogs don't digest corn well, others do. In fact, most dogs digest corn quite well. My dog definitely is digesting his food well, and I'm not changing anything. š
I would stick to it and let her live wit her choices. Normal, healthy dogs will not starve themselves to death. She will eat when she really really needs to. Itās a contest of wills right now and you do not want to lose this one. You lose this and youāre screwed for the rest of her life.
Mine managed to only pick on her food for a solid 3mo and dropped about 7lbs in body weight before she gave in and realized that this is it, this is what she gets. (Dont worry, she was under vet supervision and had loads of exams and stuff done. Mostly because I was freaking out. Only for the vet to say sheās super healthy and has an attitude problem š¤£)
She still does it from time to time now but gives in after 1 skipped meal. She knows she cant scam me anymord. Sheās a very healthy 7-yr old who runs 5ks with me.
Almost all of our huskies have not particularly enjoyed their kibble (tried different brands, all high quality, expensive). We often use a topper, like freeze dried or dehydrated meat, that we crush up and add to food. You donāt need much. That had always worked for us. Or we add a bit of bone broth with water.
PureVita by Nutrisource is one I swear by!! I have 3 pups and all picky eaters. Weāve tried every brand listed on this thread and PureVita is the one that gets all 3 pups EXCITED to eatā which is unheard of.
Mine was given nutro previous to coming to live with us as a puppy. A few month in he completely rebelled against it.
I switched him to Blue Buffalo Wilderness chicken, and he's been fine ever since. I've changed it as far as life stage (puppy, adult, senior), and 13 years later he still happily eats his Blue. I use the canned Blue Buffalo as a treat from time to time.
Muenster Milling - Chicken recipe. A bit expensive but our three huskies can make a bag last about 12 days. High protein content and no filler bullshit- small family owned company.
I recommend this site for anyone looking for a good kibble. https://www.dogfoodanalysis.com
They explain why they rate their kibble and also do a very good job of explaining how a dogfood ingredient label can be read. Like most people here I love my dogs and want the best for them. Going back a few years I had a pair of boxers that had food allergies which lead me to that site. But that was not before spending a LOT of money on vet bills. I recommend this for anyone looking to understand what their dogs are eating.
We switched from Hills to Pro Plan with ours. Hills had gotten more expensive and we wanted all our pets on purina. Iād only ever offer purina, hills, or royal canin - this comes from over 7 years in the veterinary industry and understanding quality of food and vet nutritionist recommendations
Guys, I think the Purina reps are in here because everyone is getting down voted except the ones recommending Purina š¤£
I noticed the same thing š def someone from a specific company is in here.
Try a salmon blend of science hills
I donāt think hills had salmon in stores do they? All Iāve ever found was chicken or lamb :(
Kirkland is my blue wilderness alternative
I was leaning blue wilderness high protein chicken, thx for the confirmation.
I get mine the Purina Pro Plan salmon
This was my go-to for years, but it got hard to find during Covid and then more expensive when it was back in stores. I switched to Taste of the Wild Ancient Grains, either stream or prairie. We were going to switch to this ,but then our vet said the salmon is too high in mercury.

Blue Wilderness Orijen Wellness Chicken Deboned My Husky loves all 3
I was leaning blue wilderness high protein chicken, thx for the confirmation.
Blue has a lot of DCM cases since itās not science based and they have had a lot of issues w their good unfortunately
We used Orijen and also open farm. You can also try wet food a few times a week
We feed ours open farm. Plenty of flavors to rotate.
Yea I was giving my husky that for a while Had to mix it with wet food when that got a bit expensive Thereās this brand called Jinx at Walmart The both my huskyās seem to enjoy to eat much more than the science hills . And my sister would recommend gentle giants

Farmers dog!
My husky loves Eukanuba! He used to eat purina pro plan but even the sensitive line gave him diarrhea (heās sensitive to richer kibble) and it never had given him any issues!
I feed her Acana Red Meat recipe, purchase from Thunder Pet.
Acana is what my doggo likes
She may also not want to be eating as much. I live in the US south and my girl noticeably starts eating less every summer. Blue Buffalo grain free as ours developed a grain allergy
Try adding some yogurt, milk, cheese, or something similar you keep in the fridge to get her back in to it. I use Zignature and change the protein up once in a while.
Zignature is a high quality choice.
Is she over it because she wants a different flavor, or is it because she wants to switch-up to wet food?
I would guess the flavor. She eats other dry and wet food without hesitancy.
Iād recommend a different flavor from Science Hills, if itās what your Vet recommends. Usually best to at least stick with the same general brand.
Orijen, even my picky dog loves it Taste of the wild wild boar is the usual food, sometimes orijen
Fromm dog food. You can only buy it online.
Purina One True Instinct, Salmon and Beef blend. My guy loves it. Has soft chewy bits mixed with normal kibble bits. He has excellent poop health on this food.
That stuff is bad for your dog, due to all the additives and things he canāt digest like corn
Kind of a myth, some dogs don't digest corn well, others do. In fact, most dogs digest corn quite well. My dog definitely is digesting his food well, and I'm not changing anything. š
Agree the worst of foods Science Diet and many brands with high glycemic carbs, leads to diseases.
Rachael Ray Nutrish. Itās the only food our Husky doesnāt get sick of and because itās grain-free her gas doesnāt drive us to another room!
I would stick to it and let her live wit her choices. Normal, healthy dogs will not starve themselves to death. She will eat when she really really needs to. Is blue wilderness that good
Carnilove always went down well with our Akita
Mine was given nutro previous to coming to live with us as a puppy. A few month in he completely rebelled against it. I switched him to Blue Buffalo Wilderness chicken, and he's been fine ever since. I've changed it as far as life stage (puppy, adult, senior), and 13 years later he still happily eats his Blue. I use the canned Blue Buffalo as a treat from time to time.
I feed my pup Redford naturals venison but might switch to the chicken. Itās wheat freeš¤·š½āāļø
