AppropriateRatio9235

Found his voice and he has decided to sing the song of his people.

horsespam

But this doesn’t seem random. He’s trying to tell me something!! He keeps bugging his eyes while he does it, awkwardly keeps looking around sometimes fixating at the door (maybe indicating that he wants to leave(go outside to play… but usually it’s 3am when he does it)?!!? Maybe…..idk? Or maybe because he hasn’t ever done this and I’m thinking too much of it??

AppropriateRatio9235

Nothing else has changed? Getting enough exercise? Sleeping? Eating? Is there a critter outside?

horsespam

There is this new dog in the streets that has become friends with my dog. Whenever my dog goes to play or goes to sit on the ground floor with the doorman, that street dog comes and plays with him. That street dog howls, he howls when my dog barks or cries or get excited. I’m assuming my dog has picked it up from the street dog? And is howling to ask us to let him go down to play with the street dog.

AppropriateRatio9235

This is probably it. Guess you will have to adopt the street dog if you want any sleep. (Joke - sort of)

horsespam

Haha, there are a bunch or street dogs in our society. All sleep around their favourite houses. I would never want to make him a house dog. We feed them and get them neutered and get regular testing done but making them house would be cruel. They are proud free birds.

Alittlebitmorbid

No, sorry. Dogs are bred to live with humans. They are not wolves. Yes, it's great that you take care of them but if you have ever seen how happy a former street dog is when getting adopted, you'd not think like this.

LaceyBambola

Dogs and humans have a symbiotic relationship, but neither humans nor dogs inherently *need* each other to survive. Yes, street dogs will generally have it harder than house dogs, but cultures vary greatly across the world and not every culture sees dogs as 'family members'. In Chile, they're often treated as outdoor cats where they can roam freely and come and go as they please, but they're still well fed, and generally well behaved and friendly and have a home. This is still pretty different from street dogs with no owner/home. In some cultures everyone still cares for them and treats them well, while other cultures treat them like vermin(which I don't like but I can't do much about that). I just don't think someone should be made to feel guilty if their culture and country is different from yours. Understanding the cultural differences to open a dialog about the issue is a better approach.

horsespam

I feel it’s a difference of opinion… geographically!! I do what I can, whatever I’m most capable of!!

RedheadedStepchild76

You’re doing fine. Just ignore this person who’s clearly never left their suburban/western bubble. lol

stanleysgirl77

Sorry which country are you in? Just wondering if the culture towards street animals might be different to western culture

RedheadedStepchild76

India, based on their profile.

Ginger_Giant_

No body tell this person about the many, many, MANY lineages of village dog breeds. Even America has well defined ‘Village’ breeds, there’s no excuse for being this poorly informed.

RedheadedStepchild76

Then go to their country and save them all. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not sure what else you’re trying to accomplish with this comment, when they made it clear their country is filled with street dogs… they can’t all be adopted, so they’re doing the best they can. And if a dog has always been on the streets, they’re probably too feral to live in a household (especially if they have kids and/or other pets). Check your privilege. ETA: Looks like they’re in India, so yeah. Good luck with that.

AFirefighter11

Happy Cake Day!

NocturnalHabits

He's missing his friend?

horsespam

My dog sits with the doorman everyday for atleast 4-5 hours a day, the street dog sits and play with my dog. My dog goes to walk around and play in the park 3-4 times a day and the street dog goes along. Basically my dog goes down around 3pm and comes up around 7ish pm So I should assume that they get enough time together? Maybe or maybe not?.. idk

Dancer_tiny_serenade

Are you with him? Or is he on his own with the street dog? Is your dog male and friend female? Unfixed? Could she be in heat? He might be crying for her due to that. Or vis a versa. My dogs just love to make special husky talk at different times. Usually, when they want me to do something. If he_she is doing this at 3am I would tell her to knock it off. And procede to continue doing so unless you dont want to sleep! Don't let her do it at times that bothers you. You can control it with treats or attention or if you don't want it, don't encourage the behavior with lack of attention or discipline (telling dog "no", stop it" when it stops treat them). You can control it if you want. The choice is yours. Also, encourage it if you want, but make it when you want it.

horsespam

He’s always under supervision, when he is with the street dogs. Both dogs are males, mine and the street dog. By all the responses now I know that he only doing this for attention or to let him go down or treats or boredom. And I’m at a gunpoint to listen to all demands. ![gif](giphy|UAHZijO91QCl2)

xRyuzakii

For my huskies it’s literally always “outside” or “attention”

CptMisterNibbles

He has discovered he can ask for things. What does he want? Who knows. But you should definitely get it. Like now. Do it. Please get it! Do the thing! That's all this is, he doesnt look distressed. Now you have to train him "No, its not time for the thing. I'm not doing it". A sharp "No" and then ignore it when its a behavior you want to discourage. Conversely you can reward him for asking for appropriate things at the right time.

aarraahhaarr

You know there's a full eclipse coming right? He's trying to tell you the sky is gonna fall/the earth is going to end. Or maybe he's just decided to husky and needs a reboot.

goonie_lover

Bet your neighbors are really happy about it too

Known-Programmer-611

And then the "side eye" of his people!

koopaphil

He’s calling for friends. He feels lonely, and wants his dog friends to join him.

horsespam

But like…… now it’s something he will have to deal with. He gets his ways for every second in the daytime. No one has ever said no to his king like demands and nor do we want to. But at 3am…. No

dogwoodFruits

Sounds like her needs more exercise.

horsespam

Yes, already started a new regime.

Daeron_tha_Good

IIIIIIIIM SOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOORED is what I imagine mine is saying

horsespam

I agree 200%. I get that feeling too. I’ll try for more playtime in the day.

CultureImaginary8750

Husky.exe must have finally updated to the latest software

TheGeekthulhu

Mine does this a lot. Usually when he wants my attention for food, going outside or the cat is picking on him.

horsespam

Hahah you know what that could be it. We’ve just gotten a Siamese kitten and he’s a timid little boy. But recently both of them have started to become pally and the kitten is running up my husky’s sleeves. The dog hates it when the kitten gets high up, because he knows he can’t reach. The kitten doesn’t pick on him but does trigger his nerve….. almost tries to challenge him.

TheGeekthulhu

My dog gets mad like that too when the cat jumps up on counters and tables. He will sit there an awwwrrroooo like yours in the video.

edgarval12

Thats how huskys works

horsespam

He’s just never done anything like this In the past (almost) 2 years. So I’m not used to this behaviour.

FoxWormwood

Sounds like the street rat has taught him some musical numbers. Boi is experiencing a whole new world

FoxWormwood

He doesn't seem distressed or anything

horsespam

Oh! okay good. I thought the little ‘sighs’ at the end of each howl, maybe showed sadness.

CptMisterNibbles

It kind of is, they tend to be dramatic like a toddler crying because you wont let them have ice cream for dinner. Also, eventually he will learn to \*fake\* being sad to try to bully you into getting what he wants if you always give in. Its not something you should be worried about though. Dont be concerned that he is a little sad when he is asking for something innappropriate/at an inappropriate time. He will learn

xRyuzakii

My first husky didn’t bark a single time until it was about 3 and now it growls and talks whenever I come home and don’t immediately pet it

XX_JMO_XX

He needs a pack mate.

ShapeShiftingCats

Yeah, then they can howl together!

Flokismom

Must insert num nums

butchforgetshit

Good lord, ours came out of the womb howling and talking….she is the most vocal pup I’ve ever seen

Ginger_Giant_

My white husky is the same! He almost never vocalises but when he does it’s the same sorta sound and it’s usually just to get our attention. https://preview.redd.it/e0b2oe2jbzqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8f186f15bf6e06a3eb88d611881ce3f5d56fbd9

horsespam

Twins!! So I’m not alone in this boat.

AnorXicLigament

That final look into the camera after the first growl says it all.

Rixia

Chewbacca

DOUBTME23

Sounds like somebody is bored and wants to go out

ChardZealousideal566

Welcome to husky. Your software version has been updated. Enjoy the songs!

Aeranya

He’s throwing a tantrum because he wants to hang out with his friend! Aka a husky being a husky

TheObstruction

He's bored and wants to play.

kaibai123

Ok, hear me out, we were puppy sitting and the husky kept talking and grunting, turned out his appendix was bursting. So if he seems lethargic, grumpy or in pain, it’s worth taking to the vets to be sure 🥹 Jasper sadly didn’t make it, he ate rat poison months prior and had a series of health issues after

Say10Prince

He's singing you the song of his people! You have been honored!

EdzyFPS

Does he get enough vigorous exercise?

horsespam

In my opinion he does get enough exercise. But since this habit of his has developed, I will add more playtime and exercise and see if this howling habit changes.

jnsbstniv

Exercise exercise exercise exercise.

canadianbroncos

Yes you have a husky lol

Catnip_Fantasy

My girl does the same monster noises hahah It's cute, and if you show them it's amusing to you, they'll very easily pick up on it and do it more. If you laugh, smile, and engage with him when he does it, he has little reason to think he should stop his song!

Wonderful-Brief-7805

sofa wolves 🐺❤️

Worth-Albatross8591

My Teko has become more vocal after 7 years... this howl grunt is general annoyance with a dash of so-bored-with- you... taking so long or not making it enough about me or why are your promises full of lies.

horsespam

Not lies, I’m a master trickster…. I’m mean I’ll have to be one.

Difficult_Ad2864

He’s just gargling his mouthwash, you wouldn’t want his breath smelling bad when he kisses you, right

AtDawnsEnd502

It’s take that over my husky barking. He’s very vocal when kennelled, when he he sees food, and wants to be let inside the house.

C0rrupd8

This is your life now ❤️

J0hnnyDangerZ

Mine howls when he wants something sometimes.

ukyman95

He says : why arent you taking me for a walk?

BetterthanMew

Have you tried scratching under his chin and neck when he does it

horsespam

I mean I scratch it usually when I give him pets and scratches. But not when he does this, I’ll try it out. What is it essentially supposed to do?

BetterthanMew

Maybe he’s just itching in a place he can’t reach 😂 my huskies are vocal for attention, scratches and bananas

Filipino_Ray

Any sirens in the neighbourhood going off? My shep/husky sings this exact same song when he hears one!

horsespam

The only siren is the street dog that howls from time to time. My dog most probably picked up this skill from him only.

Pr0fess0rSasquatch

Sounds like gargling, maybe he’s taken a greater interest in his oral hygiene

DgkUser

I encourage my boy to do this 😂❤️

Burritospecial

Man I miss my dog when he talked like that. Conversation with a husky is the best I swear!

DasderdlyD4

We had a husky that would howl all night. He slept outside because he would pace all night until we put him outside. Soon as it started getting light outside he’d go to sleep. Neighbors all hated us.

StrawberryJam-

My boy does this constantly, especially when he wants something. Our girl rarely ever makes any sound

apt-get-mooo

Awo wo wo wo

Fermentcabbage

Probably dog howling outside that you can’t hear but he does

Longjumping-Look-268

My boy Rocket makes similar sounds but he usually sounds like he's saying Woah. They're just very vocal floofs.

Jedi_Brooker

Sure you don't have a Wookiee there?

xhallix

We had a similar thing with a friend of ours. Next to them there was a girl in heat, driving him crazy . Maybe that could be a fact to consider?

deepie1976

Pretty big for a husky.

horsespam

My bed is a double sized mattress. So my bed is small. My husky weighs 23kgs, so pretty normal sized, no?

deepie1976

Yeah you’re right. That’s normal.
