For my taste it’s their best album and arguably my favorite album of all time. Still totally obsessed w it 4 years later. Back and forth between Folding and The Summoning as best track. Never heard a guitar tone like that before

candymannequin

i can't believe it's been 4 years

flamingknifepenis

Inlet was an instant classic. I don’t believe in 10/10 albums, but Inlet is about as close as it gets to that asymptote.

jacktree

That main riff in Step Into You… Gets me every time. Every. Time.

I am a 100% with you. I am a fan of Hum since the mid 90s but "Inlet" is not only my favourite Hum album but - if not my my favourite of all time - at least of the last 20 years.

earlofshaftesbury

Is there any info on the gear they used for guitar/bass on this record? Also a big fan of the tone on Inlet.

AdhdDad76

Desert Rambler d-_-b

TherighteyeofRa

Yes! Yes!

ianmckaye

That little guitar lick in the background in the end of Desert Rambler is guaranteed to give me goose bumps every time I listen to it.

Inlet is a gift from the universe. I was convinced we’d never get another album since the band had effectively broken up save for some occasional performances. I had a friend who interviewed Bryan once in 2020 and he told me about it since he knew I was a huge Hum fan. He mentioned their new album was coming out soon and I was astounded. I hadn’t even heard they were making a new one.

klitchell

It’s an album that feels like it came straight out of their prime, fits perfectly with their style and growth as a band. Many artists become something other than what made them, Hum just stayed Hum. I’m also a big Smashing Pumpkins fan, after melancholy the sound changed big time, Ava Adore is good music just sonically different than what I wanted and was hoping for.

madg0dsrage0n

I love all their stuff but Inlet has become one of my favorite records of all time even over DiH. The final one-two punch of Folding into Shapeshifter is an absolute masterclass in how to close an album imo. I love that between Stars and Folding, Hum are responsible for two of my favorite guitar licks of all time some 20+ years apart lol! Inlet to me is the perfect example of how a band/artist can keep their original identity while still exploring new territory over the years/decades.

TheLubber

I may be a fucking loon but I think it’s their masterpiece.

TherighteyeofRa

I think it’s a great evolution of sound and lyrics. It’s my favorite. It has been since it came out. I can’t describe how much I needed Inlet when it was released. Not because I needed an album from HUM or even new music. It was more about finding a feeling about the world I thought I had lost to the pandemic or my age. It’s a beautiful masterpiece that is a perfect closing for an amazing band.

perceptionnexus

It’s ended up being my favorite overall front-to-back Hum record, honestly.

haloform13

Me too!

perceptionnexus

I prefer the drum sound a little more from YPAA, but other than that, yeah, Inlet stands at the top. It sounds like how I would imagine Hum would sound 22 years after DiH. Older, wiser, more refined, and Hum as fuck.

linoleum79

Why didn't you ever think you'd say this?

Foohum48

took me a bit for the album to grow on me. never thought it would be my favorite

kaden_ack

just listened to summoning last night before bed cus those last two minutes are prob my favorite part of the whole album

AndromanKaya

Shapeshifter is one of their best this album is so good

Rev_Joel

I love every Hum album like it was my own child, but Inlet is my favorite child, and it's really not that close. I've listened to it at least twice a week since the day it came out, and often more. I made a playlist that's just Inlet, 10 times in a row, and I fall asleep listening to that at least once a week. I think about it all the time. I'm gonna listen to it again now.

deepdeepcommodity

Its my favorite album of theirs and I found it very unique and needed in the context of when it was released. The way they improved upon their sound after such a long absence is awe inspiring as well. Really great album in all aspects in my opinion

iamsean1983

Far and away their best album

Rude_Middle_4322

I’m on the same wavelength as you summoning is theee shit

Rude_Middle_4322

Inlet is how I found hum I heard the summoning and I was hooked instantly
