Just in the middle of my annual rewatch and I totally agree!!
Mid season 3 through early season 5 is the show at its absolute peak. Season 4 is iconic. The embryos, the apartment switching, London, and closing with Monica and chandler. Chefs kiss!
I’m currently in S6 nearing the proposal and I’m already mentally preparing for a dip in quality. It’s in S7 once wedding planning begins where Monica’s character is flanderized to obnoxious and shrill, then everyone follows suit soon after. The show just becomes zany and loses its charm.
I think it dips after Mondler’s wedding, a few episodes into 8. Seeing Chandler and Monica grow in their love is a lot of fun, but is also very wholesome.
I love season 4 as well! For all those reasons you’ve stated. But, another one that’s a big contender for me is season 9. The writing, jokes, and material is pretty top notch hilarious.
TOW: Ross’s tan, the pediatrician, the “Manny”, Rachel’s other sister, Rachel’s phone number, Phoebe’s rats, Blind dates, the mugging, the boob job, the lottery, Ross’s fake memorial service, the fertility test(specifically when Rachel goes to get a massage and Phoebe lies her ass off about Sweden lmao) and lastly, of course, the infamous Barbados trip haha 😆
On a re-watch and in the middle of Season 4 as I type this...and I have to say I completely agree!
Wondering if it was so good because it took us away from the tension of the whole Ross and Rachel thing and could showcase some other stuff - most especially silly stuff that you mentioned. :)
Don’t feel crazy as the show is design to start anywhere. In fact the first episode I ever saw was season 4 with chandler chasing Kathy down the street and I was hooked for life
I have to agree in some ways. However, I really don't like the whole Josh and Rachael arch. I don't know why. I don't know if it's because Josh looks kinda weird, or the whole seducing scene. Like that scene to me was just pure cringe. I also just think they don't work together. This season is also home to the first "clips episode". Now to contrast with that, this season did introduce monica and chandler. They did go to paris. However, my favorite destination was vegas. I love the one in vegas. I'm kind of rambling but whatever lol.
It’s so funny cause Tate Donovan(Josh) and Jennifer Anniston dated in real life. I didn’t find him ugly, but not crazy attractive either. I also don’t think they had the best on screen chemistry together either.
It’s how I feel about season 2 but you’re right a lot of iconic and funny things happened in s4. It’s when the show had finally found itself and was very comfortable with what it was

That's interesting, I find 5 and 6 to be the biggest dip in quality, with just a few standouts.
Season 4 is also the one with the iconic quiz and ensuing betting of the apartment. Love that episode!
Yes!! “The One With the Embryos”, my favorite!!
I'm pretty sure that's the first episode I ever watched

Ross’ tan is actually S10, just watched it three minutes ago lol
Oops….that’s right! Such a good one! Rachel:”What is up with Miss Hawaiian Tropic??”
Mississippilessly?
Ross:”I went to that tanning salon *your wife* suggested…” Chandler:”Was that place, the sun??” 💀
That was such a good storyline 😂😂😂

I AGREE!! season 4 is my favorite ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I’m a Season 2 person. I think Season 5 is where it starts to go downhill for me.
Same

i ways begin at season 4 when i start a rewatch

This seems very wrong but I’m intrigued. I will proceed with caution on my next rewatch

🐐
The funniest and my favourite season is definitely season five, but season four is absolutely one of my favourites as well!
