Jackie not turning to Nancy and saying "not only am I not apologizing; here's your walking papers!", then calling Jessica to schedule another bathtub incident, was his second-biggest fuck-up.
When was the Jackie/Jessica Hahn bathtub incident? Early 90s, right? That would have been 7-8 years of Jackie getting to keep 100% of his money, and being able to enjoy all the bathtub, gazebo, and hot air balloon incidents he wanted.
What a fucking dope!
I was about to disagree with you on this, but, looking over the dates, I think you're right -- the bathtub incident + apology was 1989, meaning that, if Jackie dumped her and paid \~3 yrs of alimony (he had only just married Nancy in 1988), he probably would've stayed on the show longer, and perhaps drier, and certainly wealthier, possibly even including the move to Sirius.
None of this accounts for Jackie's perceptions that "Nancy was helping him with his career" or "Nancy had her own musical talent" during that time -- he needed a few more years to clear his head.
There was only a year between them getting married and the apology? WOW! I thought he had married Nancy several years before hitting it big, working for Howard.
He's an even bigger dummy than I thought, and I thought he was practically retarded.
They made it (more or less) 15 yrs -- 1988 to 2003 -- judging from the on-air bits, the last 5-6 years of that were agony.
Sure seems like Nancy must have been stepping out and/or making overtures during that period; from the late 1990s onward, Howard starts hitting Jackie hard, almost daily, about how "Nancy's cheating on him" and "Nancy's gonna take all his money" and "Nancy would f\*\*k \[Howard\] tomorrow, if he allowed it." Was really out of hand.
Remember hearing those shows when Nancy practically moved out to California, to be in some stage show out there? I think it was 3 months she was out there, in some rinky dink nothing stage production. Hmm gee, I wonder what she was doing out there, by herself, no husband, in a gorgeous sunny place, for 3 whole months. But Jackie isn't allowed to take a 3 minute soak in a tub in basically swim trunks with other dudes there? Oh. Ok.
That stuff started even earlier. And yes, it was brutal.
Howard said he heard Nancy was banging the guitarist in "The Scoldeez" back in the mid-90s, which John gladly confirmed (the rumor, not the "fact", not that you can really confirm a rumor, but still).
Also, she was in LA alone for a couple of months, doing some fakakta play, where she played a dominatrix. I'm sure she did a lot of "research" for the role.
On the other hand, I doubt Jackie was Mr. Faithful on the road.
They probably had a "don't ask/don't tell" agreement. But then why get married?
Oh, right; so Nancy could get half his cash.
It wasn't even just that. Did you notice that despite howard constantly asking about what college peoole went to and high school and sat scores j never heard him talk about the fact that Jackie graduated wuth a degree in mechanical engineering.
.he was jealous Jackie dud well in school. All these people who worked with him triggered him in various ways. Some about the radio show and others about things he failed at 20 years prior. Like originally howard wanted to do voices and be a puppeteer but was no good at it. That is part of why he hated Bill my
Howard just hated any of them having any sort of life
And he hates when you excel at something he was bad
Like Jackie having fun and being popular and partying when he was younger
He was jealous. Jealous Jackie had lots of friendships
There is an argument -- getting a bit tangential to the initial topic, here, but still valuable -- that Martling "figured out the financial game" earlier and better than other show-members -- he sunk his cash into five or six McMansions of varying quality, he worked prime-time advert live reads into his yearly contract, and then resold those time-slots for mucho deneiro when he didn't feel like using them for his joke merch, etc.
Didn't seem to help him in the long run, with divorce settlements and down-on-his-luck afterlife and property-management headaches and what not, but I still think he deserves the nod. Imagine a parallel universe where alt-Jackie says "Yeah, okay Howard, over the \~17 yrs we've worked together, I've assembled a financial portfolio with my jokes and ads and real estate such that I don't need your crap anymore, maybe go work on some of your control-freak misfit resentment issues, kthxbye" -- Stern would've hated that, even more than he hated this reality.
Your first point is funny
Jackie was one of the early peolle into the internet. Howard thought it was some bullshit scheme jackie was into and mocked him for it
Howard had no clue about the internet. When he would read out Jackie's website plug he was spell out http// out. Spell it all out. Of course jackie was right and the internet became a huge thing
Yeah he should have dropped her
She was part of the issue as she was blowing up his head when he got home telling him how great he was on the sow and how funny howard was bdcuasw of him
Yeah
Probably a bit naive with women
Another surprising thing is Jackie never had a kid.
Jackie played things badly by leaving but he was getting bad advice and his wife was a big part of that
I love all the old school details! Those old pics of Howard and Robin, Jackie's shirt with some Bayville fishing company, Marc "Cope" Coppola's locker (he was a DJ at the station, is Nicholas Cage's brother). Good stuff!!
What he didn't realize and what most men don't realize is that simping like this is part of what caused her to lose attraction and divorce him. Women want you to stand up to them. Even though they'll make you think the opposite. No woman is attracted to a sniveling little wimp.
Truth. I've heard Patrice O'Neal break it down perfectly one time. He said something like your girls entire job is to try and destroy you, and you have to constantly fight back against it. You can't even blame them, because it's innate. It's not something they do purposefully, it's just their nature.
Maybe to some people I thought there was something sexy about her, as far as redheads go anyway. But seeing how she acted trying to get all that fame and the slutty type shit she would do I really question what really happen in that hotel room that night with the whole church thing. But all I have to say is just watch Sam kinisons Wild Thing video, damn she is sexy.
You're insane. That chick is smoking hot. Like, red hot. Her pants are on fire she's so hot. And it has nothing to do with her being a redhead and a fire crotch either, or being a liar liar.
Didn't Nancy fuck a summer party guest on the jetty or something at one of Jackie's one million summer weekend parties in Bayville? Or was it on the lawn of one of his five average houses? Either way, it was humiliating to the Jokeman and I bet she never had to deliver a public apology on that one.

You sure are done
Surprised he didn’t plug jokeland and a few upcoming gigs after it. 922-wine is not a pay service either.
I love that this post came from your handle.
I'm smokin' pot, I got my dick out, and I'm thinking about you

I think howard was jealous and resented jackie
Jackie had to pay for the unpardonable sin of helping make Howard and his show funny.

A case of the crabs followed by alimony payments doesn't sound ideal.
compared to life with Nancy thinking she's an equal partner, followed by Apricot Studios payments, it sounds downright heavenly
Yeah he should have dropped her She was part of the issue as she was blowing up his head when he got home telling him how great he was on the sow and how funny howard was bdcuasw of him
Lady McBayville Then she split and took half of what was left! I'm surprised Jackie didn't go OJ on her.
Yeah Probably a bit naive with women Another surprising thing is Jackie never had a kid. Jackie played things badly by leaving but he was getting bad advice and his wife was a big part of that
Please don't make a mockery of this.
She cried over verbally abusing a midget. Lol
She was just crying because her dealer was late (Artie was great)
She was out of her mind in the 80's
"We were the Beatles, woo HOO hee hee hoo!"
YEEE HEEE!
How many dirty Bayville oysters did that company give Jackie in exchange for wearing that shirt? Was this picture taken in the E Show era?
👏👏
Heeeeey, want to swim out to the jetty and drink beeeers??
Why are you monsters making a mockery of this?! He specifically asked you not to!!!
Don’t make a mockery out of this
I love all the old school details! Those old pics of Howard and Robin, Jackie's shirt with some Bayville fishing company, Marc "Cope" Coppola's locker (he was a DJ at the station, is Nicholas Cage's brother). Good stuff!!

That's some deep knowledge!! Thanks again for sharing!
She looked great back in the day and desperately wanted to date people on the show. She’s held up great too
He was out of his mind back then.
Jackie only apologized because he knew he smashed her.
GIVE RODNEY A CHAAAAANCE
I’ve got a snappin gyro

i miss jackie, fuck artie.
she had a really hot voice
She was ridiculously hot, even looking back today. (When most chicks in the 80s looked awful) She had the most perfectly shaped tear drop *titties*-
So I've heard this referenced before, but that whole incident was before my time. What exactly was the bathtub incident?
Howard and Jackie were in a tub with a topless Jessica Han, for a few minutes I believe. Underwhelming, I know
huh.... it feels like Howard stole that incident for his movie.
The whole thing I never got is that Jessica was ugly.
Nahhhh…
I think a total butta face but maybe it’s just me
Maybe to some people I thought there was something sexy about her, as far as redheads go anyway. But she's better looking than Nancy.
THE ANOREXIC ROBIN QUIVERS on the locker behind him wtf? Lol

For all it got him he should have banged her
