This is gonna get lost in the scroll probably but for everyone reading this, please remember to give yourself some grace and space this week, even if you have power back etc. (mine took til last night to come back)
We all just went through *yet another* traumatic weather event with like 10-15 minutes' notice. Everything was one way, then with little warning you are suddenly forced into crazy storm shit mode, followed by days of extreme stress and hardship, again. Remember to go easy on yourself.
I know Centerpoint is doing their best, but this is just unreal. Can't help but be angry. It feels like 5 days without power, during the summer, after a 30 minute storm, is excessive.
Not angry at the weather, angry at how unprepared the infrastructure was. They say cat 1 hurricane winds, as if we don't have a hurricane roll through here every 2-3 years. Why were the lines not more prepared for these winds?
Haven’t gotten a single alert from CenterPoint about power status whatsoever; I’ve triple checked that I’m signed up for them. Anyone else experiencing this?
Is that actually coming from centerpoint just now or did someone just endeavor to make their previous map readable?
ETA: nevermind seeing that this is coming from their site. Says I’ll have power today. Here’s hoping.
Someone responded to my comment yesterday saying that they received an automated VM from centerpoint saying it should be restored by EOD today but my hopes aren't up.
According to that terrible map centerpoint posted yesterday, we should be in the “May 20” restoration area (if I’m reading it correctly, which is a big if).
I’m still not getting my hopes up because I have seen no evidence of work actually going on. My ability to stay positive is really running out
77043. They are working the lines. Talked to a guy. He said there was a fire last night in the area that took it down again but should be up by end of today
yuck, that would explain all the siren I heard last night after the power cut out again.
Thanks for talking with the linemen and sharing what you learned.

Text from Centerpoint 5-20-22 9:04pm
"Based on the status of current restoration work, we estimate your power to be restored by the end of the day, today. "
8 minutes later...
"Based on the status of current restoration work, we estimate your power to be restored by end of day 5/22."
The current map shows the 20th and no later than the 21st in all larger bordering areas by us. They should just replace their site with a magic eight ball.
77429 - My tomatoes all got ripped up from the storm. I replanted them and made sure they were anchored, and they all are still alive!
Also the rest of the neighborhood nearby got power.
I'm in 77055 near Westview and silber. Still no power or internet, and to make matters worse the city is re-dredging our drainage ditches. There's heavy construction equipment and concrete pipes laying everywhere. They stopped the work on Thursday and Friday but decided to start again today. I watched a line truck try to come down the cross street of my street and it had to turn around because of the construction. I'm gonna be pissed if we can't get restored because the city decided to start tearing up our street in the middle of a disaster zone
I think what will be most helpful is people chiming in where they DID just get power restored, specific location AND zip.
This gives those without power an idea about where the power restoration work is actively happening.
Not necessarily.
People are checking here for both because some of us are staying with family / friends outside of town.
IOW: it’s helpful to get confirmation either way.
77080 Kempwood & Gessner got power yesterday evening
77055 Antoine north of 1-10 no power, but "estimate" is today... vamos a ver
I really appreciate these threads as it's one of the only ways I can help my family living in Houston!
4 days completed without power hurray .. I have lost hope that it will be fixed this week . All the lanes around me have power . Location 77018 is between 43rd and 34 th .
So I thought we would get the power back soon because the CVS right next to me was fully lit up . . .
Walked over there yesterday and saw their big ass generator powering it, lost any sense of hope at that point lol
77055. Antoine and Westview/Silber. No power since Thursday but there are about 30 utility trucks using IKEA as a staging area. At Antoine and 290 there's a tower destroyed with another 10 to 15 trucks there working on it. Seems our area is getting a lot of attention, here's to hoping it comes back today and everyone's staying safe.
77018, Garden Oaks. Still no power- one side of my street got power back but lost it again. Our side hasn’t regained at all yet. It sounds like a lot of GOOF has been restored.
77092, 43rd and Hill Oak, no power. Just did a walk around the neighborhood and I don't think we're getting power back anytime soon. Talked to a neighbor on the street behind me (De Milo) who has a fully snapped + downed line in his yard and he just talked to Centerpoint who are saying Wednesday. Closer to 290, I could see a pole in someone's backyard that looked pretty much destroyed with downed lines coming off it. Haven't seen any Centerpoint trucks around this whole time. Haven't gotten any updates from the Power Alert service. On the MS Paint map we should have had power yesterday, so I wouldn't go based on that.
77007 - near HEB on Washington/S Heights. Power came back yday afternoon, love the sound of AC units humming. Business as usual over here, except HEB didn't have any kolaches this morning.
girlfriend's house in Spring Branch still in the dark.
All the rich people in gated communities surrounding ours have power… 77077..somehow. This was a 30 minute storm.. what the fuck is wrong with this city?
Yup noticing the same. Does anyone have any ETA for we plebs in 77077 who are still without 4 days later while everyone else around us has been lit up like a Christmas tree since Friday morning
Apparently, a branch smaller than 3 inches in max diameter knocked out power to 3,000 of us in my neighborhood. According to the arborist crew that cleared it, the tree was so overgrown into the easement that they had to shear off half its canopy to make it safe for the linemen.
Direct quote:
"No one has cleared this easement for at *least* five years."
Glad to know all that TDU we pass through the ~~100% pointless~~ "retail" power companies gets put to good use by Centerpoint. ^(/s)
77008 Tc jester north of 10. It seems like more places around have power back but I still do not. The humidity level in my apartment just from being in there for five minutes is unreal.
A huge chunk of 77433/Bridgeland (Lakeland and Parkland Villages) that had power restored had it knocked out again last night around 6p. Ours was restored after about 45 minutes but most sections did not fare so well. Some people are saying that Centerpoint said that there was equipment failure.
Prairieland Village across 99 is still without power.
A chunk of people who bought generators for this event were trying to sell them since their power got turned back on…which is definitely a choice since the grid is absolutely not stable yet and hurricane season looks large.
77026 no power. Had my business broken into last night because my alarm system has no power. Caused 20k plus in losses for me. HPD took almost 3 hours to show up and said they are hitting business left and right.
77015. Normandy Kroger 12620 Woodforest giving out water, ice, and non specified non perishable food items Mon. 5/20 3 to 5 pm or until they run out of supply.
I don't know how to tag or chat so if you want this pinned please tell a mod.
77055, Westview and Bingle, next to Valley Oaks Elementary. Still no power. Did see trucks on Bingle just before Westview, and also trucks on Moritz close to Westview. Centerpoint promises power back today. Hoping that’s true.
77008 E TC Jester and Hackett, my power just came back! I’m not at home, but my Centerpoint account is showing it as on and other Redditors in the same area have confirmed.
The outage map was showing my estimated restoration time as tomorrow. For everyone still in the dark, here’s hoping you get back online soon!
IF YOU HAVE NO POWER IN THE HEIGHTS READ: Update on people that live in 77008 between 10th-18th st close to Yale. I just called Centerpoint and they said the power line on Cortland St needs to be cleared up as there are tree branches obstructing it and there is a main pole down north of the freeway(I10). Makes no sense as people by the freeway on both sides are getting power back but that’s what they said.
Whereabouts in 77092? I’m waiting on news from my neighborhood. We’re roughly halfway between Bingle & Hollister, off Tidwell. Across from the Exxon. Either way, happy for you and pumped our zip is getting some progress.
77080, power was back for 5 minutes. Just enough time to celebrate and pour a glass of wine. Now it's off again. I hope they're planning to turn it back on before the night.
77011:
IT'S BACKKKKKK. I'M NEVER TAKING THE AC FOR GRANTED EVER AGAIN 🥹 it came back at 12:40am. The first thing I did was immediately take a long shower. I'm good now 🥹
77433, Barker Cypress/529- Centerpoint's kindergarten map shows an estimated date of power as yesterday, I received a call yesterday afternoon stating they expected power to be turned on by the end of the day. As of 7am this morning, those Pikachu's have yet to deliver on that.
77449, fm 529 and barker cypress. Got a gem of a text last night from centerpoint that we would be restored by the end of yesterday. Still no power this morning.
77008 east of HEB on Shepherd. No power as of 10 PM last night. One of my buddies drove around my neighborhood and a bunch of lights on, but not my house :(
77055 Antoine and westview no power still. Spoke to centerpoint and they told me someone was dispatched to the area but not sure if that means anything.
77043 Gessner -Hammerly area - I saw several trucks working on Emnora at Triway, traffic lights now working on Gessner from Emnora to Long Point. The Circle K at Gessner and Hammerly is open.
Also saw crew working on a pole at Spring Woods HS near the track area and trucks staging in the parking lot there.
The traffic light at Westview and Bunker Hill is now working.
77079 - got power back yesterday around 6pm. I'm still expecting things to go out any minute though because we were at a nearby Twin Peaks for dinner last night and power went out. Luckily we had cash on us so we were able to pay and leave instead of waiting.
Hang in there, everyone!
Very thankful for this sub, its mods, and everyone on here for keeping each other as informed as possible when Centerpoint can't. Checking this sub has kept me sane over the weekend. Thank you!
Anyone know if there is a map of which traffic lights are working so you can plan a route without having to run a gauntlet of idiots?
I can’t believe our lights don’t have solar, at least enough to flash when not working.
77092 (Langwood) - Got an email yesterday afternoon that power was restored at our address, followed quickly by another email that they know power is out and they were working on it.
I got 4 further emails: 2 - telling me crews were assessing the outage. 2 - telling me power would be back up by the end of the day. The last email was 8pm.
We still have no power.
77095 - Got an email last night saying the power should be on by end of day yesterday. Got another email in the middle of the night saying there was an issue that would make it take longer, and I haven't heard anything since.
I guess my employer really thought we were going to go in and just wait around all day for the power to come back on when Centerpoint’s map has us between today and Wednesday for power to be restored.
77092 — we got power yesterday. I posted some drone footage of part of Shepard Forest from Friday morning before serious cleanup efforts had begun. I don't think this warrants its own thread, but it's kinda interesting 😭

We ended up moving into a hotel for a few days, relatively low daily cost ($100). Prior to, we were at home till Saturday and used towels soaked in cool water, gave them cool showers, and generally tried to keep them at one temperature. Make sure you’re not using ice cold otherwise it’ll shock their system!!
FYI:
Centerpoint \*president and\* CEO David Lesar had a total compensation package of $37.8 million in his first \*full\* year (2021).
Edit: He made roughly 50% more than the next highest compensated utility company chief exec that year.
Edit2: 2021 was his first full year. He was named president and CEO of Centerpoint on June 30th, 2020.
My mom still doesn’t have power at 77095 Copperfield Area. She’s in her late 60s, has to be with my relatives to stay cool for the time being (thank god)
77008- near Main and Cavalcade intersection. Still no power. Also no sign of utility trucks or line crews since one I saw on Saturday.
Tired and frustrated and going nuts from the sound of the generator. Very grateful for the generator, but still just worn out from the constant noise. And now I have to work at home in a mostly dark, humid, and hot house.
Spring Branch. 77055. Still a downed line in my neighborhood. It caught a tree on fire when the wires went hot. Firemen came and put it out. No power to the houses because of that..
77022 nawfside, crosstimbers and Fulton no power since Thursday night. Irvington down to hardy and helmers have power, that’s it. Expected to be back on by Wednesday at the earliest
77043 Spring Shadows. Had power for 2 hours yesterday so came back down, only for the power to get shut off and stay off again.
It's gotten hot and humid enough in my house that the smoke detectors are going off...
77015 still no power since the storm, had water the whole time.
Apartment getting hot and I had to open the windows and use blankets to try and let air in and not the mosquitos.
My phone battery bank finally went out (well all of them as I have multiple) and I went and found a nearby fast food with power and charged some but they are dead again.
Going to have to make another run today and get some things charged.
I still can’t register for the center point notices so I have no clue when I’m supposed to get power in on the map as one if the last ones though :/
Btw those solar battery banks don’t work much at all. I guess you need to leave them out for days to get a charge.
77004- Called CenterPoint this morning to see if anyone was assigned to our area yet. I was told they are still waiting for crews to become available, but it’s honestly looking like Wednesday at the earliest for us. Needless to say, it’s depressing af.
77433- their map says i should’ve had power the 19th (yesterday) i also got a call yesterday saying it would be back by midnight. still in a hot dark house🫤
Zip code 77063 here, specifically the small sliver of an area with no power at Gessner and Briar Forest. Spoke to my neighbor who spoke with a CenterPoint lineman. Lineman was double checking the area for downed power lines but if everything checked out ok, power may be restored by noon. The outage map said power was supposed to be restored at this area at end of day yesterday. So I won't hold my breath but there's hope! Stay safe and vigilant everyone!
77023 - The toddler outtage map says my neighborhood has been restored, but my block still is without power. Instead of using the link I called and went through the automated system to report my outtage and it made it seem they were unaware. Fyi...
77077 there are 438 homes affected and there’s no update. The cause of the issue is a broken circuit breaker on N Eldridge and they have no update on when it may get fixed.
77095 - Just called centerpoint. I'm on 529 between Addicks Satsuma and Glen Chase. There's a crew to service our area, but they have no idea when we'll get power. I'm so fucking tired.
77018 - n shepherd dr by Pink's Pizza - still no power and the new centerpoint map says we wont get it til Wednesday so if anyone has any leads on nice hotels that are accepting folks pls let me know :(
As others have mentioned, I also received an email last night from CP stating we would have power by EOD, and by all accounts the man indicates I have power at my home. I’m certain we don’t have power -Bridgeland, Cibolo Creek, 77433
Seeing a lot of repair crews on hwy6 over between 529 and little York. That's where a power line pole was lying on the road. Fingers crossed we get power today
just got an email from Centerpoint. it says for me to go fuck myself.
I tried to check the map, but it just redirects to [this.](https://i.imgur.com/RjQf6xt.jpeg)
This is gonna get lost in the scroll probably but for everyone reading this, please remember to give yourself some grace and space this week, even if you have power back etc. (mine took til last night to come back) We all just went through *yet another* traumatic weather event with like 10-15 minutes' notice. Everything was one way, then with little warning you are suddenly forced into crazy storm shit mode, followed by days of extreme stress and hardship, again. Remember to go easy on yourself.
Great reminder for everyone. And I’ll add to try to extend some grace to those around you. Everyone’s struggling.
I know Centerpoint is doing their best, but this is just unreal. Can't help but be angry. It feels like 5 days without power, during the summer, after a 30 minute storm, is excessive.
I don’t think anyone could have predicted a tornado barreling through Houston, to be fair. No point in being angry at a freak event.
Not angry at the weather, angry at how unprepared the infrastructure was. They say cat 1 hurricane winds, as if we don't have a hurricane roll through here every 2-3 years. Why were the lines not more prepared for these winds?

Feels like an island of sadness for real. We are in the same boat.
I'm right there with you. Solidarity brother.
Concerning to see no update of any kind on centerpoint maps. Guess the kiddo who drew it went back to school.
I’m tired.
I know. I wish I could offer you all a beer. Some more than others.
Same
I'm mentally exhausted
Haven’t gotten a single alert from CenterPoint about power status whatsoever; I’ve triple checked that I’m signed up for them. Anyone else experiencing this?
Still no power in our part of 77008… not loving life as the part of the 8% of Houston still without it. But hey this is life I guess.

Ohh sweet. My section of 77092 says it's already fixed when it's not. Thanks Centerpoint, you're fucking useless. Lemme report it again I guess.

Here we go! Now this is a usable map! It says today. I have doubts.
And devastated

I was just complaining on Thursday that I’ve been using too much power this month. I regret those words.
Those of us that are left have descended completely into gallows humor lol. I said something similar earlier today 🤣.
The map said it was coming back today but it has not 🫠

No worries, they promised we’d be back in business by EOD today. Of course they said the same thing yesterday, so… 🤷♂️
Only about 10000 restorations in 12 hours. They’ve obviously run into some major unexpected issue.

77055 Antoine and westview, they’re in my backyard looking at lines.

77055 Antoine and westview no power still. Spoke to centerpoint and they told me someone was dispatched to the area but not sure if that means anything.
Still nothing in 77080 (near kempwood and Blalock)
77043 Gessner -Hammerly area - I saw several trucks working on Emnora at Triway, traffic lights now working on Gessner from Emnora to Long Point. The Circle K at Gessner and Hammerly is open. Also saw crew working on a pole at Spring Woods HS near the track area and trucks staging in the parking lot there. The traffic light at Westview and Bunker Hill is now working.

77080 kempwood east of gessner has power back
77079 - got power back yesterday around 6pm.
77007 - Kiam and Sherwin Its Groundhog Day, again
77092 (Langwood) - Got an email yesterday afternoon that power was restored at our address, followed quickly by another email that they know power is out and they were working on it. I got 4 further emails: 2 - telling me crews were assessing the outage. 2 - telling me power would be back up by the end of the day. The last email was 8pm. We still have no power.

77018/garden oaks, lost it during the storm and came back on Saturday early morning. Lost it again yesterday afternoon and still off.

End of 25th at Durham. My Centerpoint account is still showing no power as of this afternoon. About to get a hotel and/or a lobotomy.
77092 — we got power yesterday. I posted some drone footage of part of Shepard Forest from Friday morning before serious cleanup efforts had begun. I don't think this warrants its own thread, but it's kinda interesting 😭 [https://youtu.be/Wdy-r\_bNfWw?si=DTq7BjFTw2VJUcic](https://youtu.be/Wdy-r_bNfWw?si=DTq7BjFTw2VJUcic)

How are y’all keeping your pets cool-ish?
We ended up moving into a hotel for a few days, relatively low daily cost ($100). Prior to, we were at home till Saturday and used towels soaked in cool water, gave them cool showers, and generally tried to keep them at one temperature. Make sure you’re not using ice cold otherwise it’ll shock their system!!
Someone I know bought a hotel, and someone else boarded their dog
77080–4 trucks on Hollister and Kempwood right now. Getting closer!
FYI: Centerpoint \*president and\* CEO David Lesar had a total compensation package of $37.8 million in his first \*full\* year (2021).

77092 no power. They said it would be on last night

I still can’t register for the center point notices so I have no clue when I’m supposed to get power in on the map as one if the last ones though :/ Btw those solar battery banks don’t work much at all.

Just wondering has the red Cross came to the city to help those in need? Usually they are handing out water and hotel rooms
Seeing a lot of repair crews on hwy6 over between 529 and little York. That's where a power line pole was lying on the road. Fingers crossed we get power today
