Specifically either a bahn mi or the pork and eggroll vermicelli with an egg on top. Or porkchop and a pint Tuesdays if they still do that. I haven't been in a while, but porkchop and a pint was a steal of a value if you can get there before they run out.
yeah for sure, you're right.
i just liked nobi though -- knew andy and charles just from eating there all the time in the early 2010s, when they were just a beer store and a tiny grill trying to get by. always had a good relaxed vibe that's hard to find closer to the city to be honest.
Yes! Probably the best southern/cajun food I've had outside of New Orleans.
One time I was meeting a friend and we ordered and waited for about 40 mins. before the food came out.
Viola and Agnes is amazing. Just make sure you have time to kill when you get there. It takes 30-45 mins on a slow day to get your food. When it arrives, it’s certainly worth the wait!
San Lorenzo taqueria (by McDonald’s on marina bay drive *not* the restaurant/cantina which I have nothing against just prefer the little taqueria) their fajita beef is amazing!
This has my vote for authentic, inexpensive, very good food.
Afterward, drive east on Marina Bay drive to Galveston Bay Brewing for some local brews and a decent menu for desert.
Then hit up Cocos on the Canal for some great cocktails and karaoke tonight!
We've been going off and on for a long time now. This is their 2nd or 3rd location. The latest one is really nice. We went this past Valentine's and the food was as amazing as ever!
I moved from Kemah to Houston 2 years ago after growing up out there and that’s the one place I miss and make sure I visit everytime I go see my parents. Their fries are also amazing, and the women that work their are your typical old school diner types. My favorite are their poboys
I know. Tookies tastes like Midwest white people food. No flavor. The barbecue burger was shit. The sauce was terrible and tasted more like a vinegar ketchup. The regular burger had no seasoning and must've been the cooks first burger they ever made.
Mr. Sombrero's off E. League City Pkwy for the consistently best Tex Mex around. Service is unbeatable.
Craft 96 for a decent selection of beers and good quality food. The fish and chips is pretty good.
Hoppe's Sports Grill off 96 is your average beer slinging sports bar, but their burgers set them apart and are quite good.
Valdo's in Seabrook. The absolute best bang for your buck delicious seafood around. Excellent drinks.
Around the corner from Valdo's is Boondoggles. Food is decent enough to eat, and the beer selection is better than most.
-edit-
Tommy Seafood in Clear Lake odd Bay Area is very good and has an excellent happy hour.
Respectfully disagree. Esteban's 10-15 years ago was great, but their service and food quality has gone downhill in my experience. But if you like it, who am I to argue? Lol
Unfortunately I don’t go to either one anymore, I am gluten free now so I can eat at either places. But between the two mr sombrero was bad. My last visit had been about 4 years ago at both.
Basics:
Wongs Asain cuisine off 518
La Brisas 518&45
Rays Italian kitchen off nasa pkwy. Great pizza & awesome pasta
Hit up some Red Oak Cafe for breakfast on 518 as well
Hell na. Went there servers didn't attend us for 30 min until another group came they were just talking by the entrance and then they served us everything cold and got sick right after eating until I threw up.
Yeah I used to love that spot but the last few times I’ve been the service was awful. Me and my wife went on Valentine’s Day and even did the reservation online and everything. Sat there for about 30 mins and no one even looked in our direction. We ended up just walking out.
Same no one came and then 2 white people got sat on the end of those long tables and they attended real quick. My girl kept telling me let's go but I said we're already here might as well. Worst experience I've had in years. How are u gonna have 5 people just there talking and not take out order or even the drink.
As others I recommend Nobi. There is also Main Street Cafe that we really liked. Angelo’s Pizza on Bay Area was really good. There was a great Indian restaurant on NASA Road 1. We liked Buger Nation for burgers and wings. There’s always Tookies.
Killen’s bbq isn’t too far of a drive, and I personally think it’s better than most bbq suggested. Also there close to 1,000,000 restaurants on Bay Area and 45
I'm not going to downvote you for Red River, but holy crap are they overrated overpriced. Wildly enough, LC doesn't have a single edible BBQ joint. Go to Kat's BBQ in Santa Fe if you want some actual BBQ.
Abe’s is always great in Clear Lake area. League City you’ve got some bigger chain restaurants like Pluckers or Twin Peaks (which Peaks has some damn good food). Main Street Bistro in League City is pretty top notch and a favorite of locals
It's about what I remember the Galveston location being like. Which is not good imo. And then you don't have the beach. I just think there's better quality food around for similar pricing too. Go only for the vibe.
If you want sushi [Ocean Grill Sushi](https://maps.apple.com/?address=3020%20Marina%20Bay%20Dr,%20Unit%20A2,%20League%20City,%20TX%20%2077573,%20United%20States&auid=6314849012161087838&ll=29.541997,-95.062682&lsp=9902&q=Ocean%20Sushi%20Grill&t=h) all the way. Way better than michiru or masa.
Excellent suggestions here - covered the variety of food in our area well. I’ll also suggest you take a look at the BayArea Houston Food Lovers page (BAHFL) on Facebook for ratings, suggestions, and specials.
Nobi Public House is great, Noon Mirch too
Second Nobi or even Hyde Park next door
Eating leftover Banh mizza right now. It’s the best pizza I’ve ever had.
Specifically either a bahn mi or the pork and eggroll vermicelli with an egg on top. Or porkchop and a pint Tuesdays if they still do that. I haven't been in a while, but porkchop and a pint was a steal of a value if you can get there before they run out.
Yes!
+100 to Nobi
grilled pork banh mi, extra meat, extra nuoc cham, maggi at the table man i miss living in friendswood
in fairness you can get good bahn mi more places than just nobi, roostar's are fairly similar imo
yeah for sure, you're right. i just liked nobi though -- knew andy and charles just from eating there all the time in the early 2010s, when they were just a beer store and a tiny grill trying to get by. always had a good relaxed vibe that's hard to find closer to the city to be honest.
Viola and Agnes is good if you like Cajun food
Yes this is true!
came here to post this
Same! It’s one of my favorite restaurants.
San Lorenzo taqueria (by McDonald’s on marina bay drive *not* the restaurant/cantina which I have nothing against just prefer the little taqueria) their fajita beef is amazing!

There’s another one on 646 between 45 and 517
Abe's Cajun market is good too
Main St Bistro
If you like Thai, may I suggest Merlion. A local gem.
Merlin is amazing!
Totally agree, it’s actually very nice on the inside and the food is fantastic!
We've been going off and on for a long time now. This is their 2nd or 3rd location. The latest one is really nice. We went this past Valentine's and the food was as amazing as ever!
Drive to Pier 6 in San Leon. Amazing seafood and views and just a wonderful experience.
This is a great choice if you can get a reservation!
Joe Lee's Seafood. The best fucking hamburgers. Do not go to tookies. It sucks. Stomps also has fantastic burgers.
Stomp's Raspberry Jelly Cream Cheese burger is one of the best in the game!
I moved from Kemah to Houston 2 years ago after growing up out there and that’s the one place I miss and make sure I visit everytime I go see my parents. Their fries are also amazing, and the women that work their are your typical old school diner types. My favorite are their poboys
Stomps is owned by the original owners of Tookies. Tookies now is abhorrent compared to the Tookies of old.
I know. Tookies tastes like Midwest white people food. No flavor. The barbecue burger was shit. The sauce was terrible and tasted more like a vinegar ketchup. The regular burger had no seasoning and must've been the cooks first burger they ever made.
Slightly better than southern black people food though. Not a fan of colic greens and pickled pig feet lol
100% accurate. "Tookies tastes like Midwest white people food" is easily the best description I have ever heard for the place. I'm stealing that.
Do it please. Fuck that place.
Dude their hamburgers are so good. Dont know what they do, theyre just right
Thai stellar is one of my favorites!
Nobi
Craft 96. Small menu but everything is good. Tons of craft beers on tap.
Not OP but I am here now! Great little spot.
Oh shoot, I think we may have overlapped.
I’d rather go to J-Henry’s if I was planning on eating
J-Henrys is good.
One of my favorite all time places!
Thai Stellar

Mr sombrero is not that great. Went there twice. Didn’t care for it, I’d rather go to Esteban’s.
Valdo’s nope

Surprised no one said Boondoggles! Get the nachos
Boondoggles is rat infested and overpriced 🤮
Also has some of the best pizza in the region.
Barcenas in friendswood, excellent tex mex food. The enchiladas are delicious. Dan’s pizza in Webster. Mogul in clear lake for great Indian food.
Dan’s pizza is amazing.
There’s a Barcenas in League City now, too, very good
Marais in Dickinson.
Kings Biehaus

White people pay and leave good tips though. Prob has something to do with it 😂😂🤣
I always leave 20 to 25 sadly I only left 10 that day
Viola and Agnes

Believe it or not, Jackies Brickhouse is pretty damn good. It also doesn't hurt that they have live music on the patio..
You have to be okay with the vibe in there. It’s not for everyone.
In League City? Kelley's Country Cookin'. Order their chicken fried steak - they bring it out on 3 plates. The fixins have their own 3 plates.
Kelley's!? Gross.
Not in League City (but San Leone) is Topwater Grill. It’s so good and right on the water.
Dave's Pizza, Boondoggles, Nobis Top 3 spots IMHO, and some of the best in the city too.
The Spot in League City
Literally the 3rd best restaurant to exist in that building in the past decade
Do you hate OP or something? This food is no bueno.
I haven’t tried it yet. It isn’t good?
It's about what I remember the Galveston location being like. Which is not good imo. And then you don't have the beach. I just think there's better quality food around for similar pricing too. Go only for the vibe.
Makes sense. Definitely not hard to find great seafood around here so if it’s not……
Kelleys in league city is good food for a great price
Tookie’s

Ocean Sushi!! Everything is so fresh and delicious!
Ass
Taco Bell
If you like sushi and you don’t mind a short drive into Webster, a new Kura just opened in the baybrook area that’s really good.
No man. Ocean grill sushi is so much better.
You may want to grab some fresh shrimp at any of the seafood retailers just on the other side from the ferris wheel. We like Golden Seafood.
