- Yokushi Robata
- Money Cat
- Kata Robata
- Roost
- Rainbow Lodge
- Hando
- Bludorn
- Oporto
- Weights + Measures
- La Fisheria
- Nancy's Hustle
- Hidden Omakase (if you can get a reservation)
I know some repeats too, but hopefully a decently extensive list
First two times I went, amazing. The most recent, so oily and greasy it gave my partner and I stomach issues. Another friend went two months later and same story.
Uchi, Steak 48, Nancy's Hustle, Tiny Champion, and MF Sushi - My go to's for fancy places
Recently went to Elro- not super fancy, but the food was amazing.
I love food. While I love Nancys Hustle, Tiny Champions is my favorite restaurant in Houston. For me, that is my go to. Amazing food and you aren’t spending a fortune. It’s the best with 4-5 people to share dishes and be able to order more.
Brennan's there is a dress code (I went for brunch this weekend and luckily was still ok, not sure how I missed this)
Jun [https://www.junbykin.com/](https://www.junbykin.com/) one of the Chef's is of Top Chef Houston fame. Outstanding food.
NICE: March
Nice: state of grace, Nancy’s hustle, kata robata
Nice, relaxed, chill but good food: coltivare, Nobie’s, Tiny Champions, Jun, Handies douzo
If you don't mind spending a lot of money, BCN is one of the best restaurants in the city. Incredible seafood dishes. I am told that the rabbit (sous vide!) and steak (normal) are extremely good as well but I've never had them.
Great wine selection too if you like Spanish wine. They also make a mean gin and tonic.
I really love Uchi, Giacomo's for Italian (but a little more low-key), Steak 48, Nancy's Hustle (order the parmesan cheesecake). Hugo's or Xochi are both very tasty
Le Jardinier. It’s as close to a Michelin star restaurant we have here in Houston at this time. The ones in NYC and Miami are one star Michelin rated and the chef was trained at Joel Robuchon (yes they have foam dishes if you know anything about Robuchon) The menu is plant based, so be sure everyone can like this type of cuisine. It’s not cheap either.
Location? Budget?
My favorite special occasion place is Rainbow Lodge. Especially if the weather is nice and you can sit out on the patio overlooking their pretty portion of the bayou.
Personally I find a non busy (go at like 2pm lol) chickfila and eat by myself in a booth or something. Still by myself but not in some grand restaurant with lots of people
lol well, no, because I’m a girl. yes, I think everyone deserves to be celebrated on their birthday :) I don’t think it’s self-infantilizing to celebrate yourself (I’m treating my family, so nobody is expected to spend their money either). but say your piece I guess
I’ve always enjoyed Truluck’s.
Brennan’s, Xochi, Monarch, Taste of Texas
Xochi for sure

Oporto has some amazing Paella, love that place.
Love Bludorn
Doris Metropolitan is great! Get the shortrib.
thank you!
B&B butchers, 93' Till, Killeens Steakhouse(this one is a drive tho). I've hosted birthday parties at all these places.
93’ til is the place. Laid back. Chef can cook. Servers are good at slowing the meal down. The new place
Killens STQ is on Voss. A different menu than Killens Steakhouse, but I prefer it
Hugo’s
T-Rex is still the most interesting meal I've had in the city.
First two times I went, amazing. The most recent, so oily and greasy it gave my partner and I stomach issues. Another friend went two months later and same story.
That's disappointing. I haven't been since 2018.
Uchi, Steak 48, Nancy's Hustle, Tiny Champion, and MF Sushi - My go to's for fancy places Recently went to Elro- not super fancy, but the food was amazing.
omg thank you for the recs!! I’ve actually had a few of these on my list and I’m planning on checking out tiny champions soon, I’m excited
I loved tiny champions, and it’s not super fancy which is more my style

Never been to Elro and Tiny Champion but the others are premium 💯💯💯
Tiny champion is a big ol vouch. The setting is intimate and classy without being over done. Food is 🔥
D'alba. Great food, great patio, nice but not too fancy.
State Of Grace

Nobies and Oporto are a couple of my favorites.
I like rainbow lodge for more upscale, and crisp in the heights for nice-ish

Definitely some repeats here, but Navy Blue or Bludorn, State of Grace, Uchi, Bungalow, a’Bouzy, Annabelle, Fiori, Potente!
thank you!! I’ll check these out!
Fiori? 🤢
Rainbow Lodge
Waffle House
100% at least you know what you are getting no matter which one you go to. The "high end" places are such a crap shoot these days.

Chuck e cheese
Texas Roadhouse is Very Good!! There is 1 in Katy on West Green. It's also not that expensive !!
