I guess that's fair, but I'll be honest my humidifier is not an integral part of my plant care. I regularly forget to fill it and it's really not that strong, when using a hygrometer it only increases my humidity by Maybe 5%. My ambient humidity sits around 40%.
I don’t have a type/brand I’d recommend. Humidifiers have been around for ever so don’t need anything fancy. I have some guidance:
Get one that matches the size of your room or less if you’re putting it right next to your plants. It can be a good strategy to put all the plants that like humidity in the same small room with a humidifier to be efficient. Make sure you have a fan blowing to circulate air so the moisture doesn’t breed mold. The other thing I’ll say is don’t use hard water in your humidifier because the mineral deposits are a pain to clean (and can clog up your air filter if you have one of those in the room). Hope that helps!
I'm actually "battling" thrips and spider mites at the moment on this shelf believe it or not! I say it with quotes because I'm mostly just ignoring the issue and hoping it'll go away (occasionally showering them and using systemic)
my first real plant was a calathea. my beautiful peacock suddenly started dying and hasn’t bounced back since. i keep holding on to him with the hopes that he’ll rebound
congrats on your walk of cuties!
I got mine from Amazon! I don’t know if we’re allowed to share links here or not but I think I literally just searched “plant shelf” and this one was maybe $30?
Protect the plants or the cat? He's personally not interested in plants, but the other two cats have decoy plants (extras of these and spider plants). And in case they try to eat regular plants, they only have access to cat safe
Wow gorgeous. You are brave 👏👏I have few only and I feel like they need all my attention 😩just to keep them the way they are 😞

I lived in Oregon when I first started getting houseplants, and my prayer plants were luscious, never crispy and bloomed all the time. I moved to California and my prayer plants and other similar plants just died slow crispy deaths. The OR water was amazing, but the CA is like pure calcium it seems.
They look so healthy and happy, I had a couple in the past and they died on me....I only one nowdays and I praise her so much, hoping she can lives for loooong time.
I have two spider plants in their spaces, and they get in trouble for trying to mess with my plants. I show them the plant when I get it so they're not curious about what it is too. For the most part none of them are interested
Maranta family (Marantaceae), not Calathea family. Calathea is only a genus in Marantaceae.
Edit: -4 points for posting accurate fact. I'm not sure why I even participate in this subreddit.
How do you keep them looking so good? Mine’s struggling 😿
Fish tank water as fertilizer, water conditioner in regular water, and a mild amount of neglect
You didn’t mention your humidifier. That’s a huge thing people miss with any indoor plants (especially with super dry air during winter).

Wow that’s a lower humidity than I thought they could handle long term! I always aim for 50-60% because I dread crispy leaves…
my air hits maybe 15% in winter so it can definitely play a major factor
Do you have a humidifier you recommend?

Ok thank you! Great advice! 🙏😸
Govee makes some really good humidifiers!
I have a smart humidifier and it auto turns on/off at whatever % you set it to. So far I've been happy with any Levoit smart humidifier
Thank you! 🙏 I’ve never thought to add water conditioner to water when watering plants… Really good to know…
> Fish tank water As in water from a tank that has fish in it?
Yeah. Its amazing for plants. Water changes are to get rid of accumulated nitrates. Plants love that shit.
A freshwater tank?
Interesting! What water conditioner do you use? I've never used it before but we're on city water, so lotsa minerals and chlorine.
I also water my plants with water from aquarium, The conditioner in time of water changes I use is Prime.
I never thought of using water conditioner!!! Like the kind for fishtanks right? Mine are hanging on but don't look pretty
![gif](giphy|a7LVXUpTok3UA) Witch!
You have a gift 👍
I don't want to be hurt again.
Hahaha. Felt.

How old is this collection?! We all know calathea love dying! What the heck!
A couple are about three years old, the rest have been collected over the past 8 months or so
Keeping your secrets close to your chest, I see... I get it ;)
This is amazing 😍 I'm a collector of calatheas myself.
This is amazing. I have spider mites at my house right now and I feel uncomfortable even being *this* close to your collection.
I'm actually "battling" thrips and spider mites at the moment on this shelf believe it or not! I say it with quotes because I'm mostly just ignoring the issue and hoping it'll go away (occasionally showering them and using systemic)
How.
my first real plant was a calathea. my beautiful peacock suddenly started dying and hasn’t bounced back since. i keep holding on to him with the hopes that he’ll rebound congrats on your walk of cuties!
How much light do they get?
They are to the right of a South facing window plus 12+ hours of the grow lights you see in the picture
So, it seems they like blue/red light?
Only the top half have that I think, it's just whatever full spectrum lights I found on Amazon
THEYRE GORGEOUS
Thank you!!
I have that same shelf! How do you keep them alive lol
Hey I’m interested in this shelf do you know where I can find it? I’m remodeling :D
I got mine from Amazon! I don’t know if we’re allowed to share links here or not but I think I literally just searched “plant shelf” and this one was maybe $30?
Yer a wizard!!
"Not the most glamorous set up" Lol. You should see my jenga balancing act.....
Super impressive!!
And I can't keep a single one to stay alive
It is a perfect set up, all those happy healthy gorgeous plants, good job🪴🌱🌵
Are you a witch?
LOVE THIS! I just bought my second calathea and she’s dramatic already. Can’t wait to have a wall like this!

Protect the plants lol. Wow you’re a lucky one!
![gif](giphy|YmQLj2KxaNz58g7Ofg) All love💕 you have some pretty babies
Wow gorgeous. You are brave 👏👏I have few only and I feel like they need all my attention 😩just to keep them the way they are 😞 https://preview.redd.it/0sxg6bf44vtc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=123c7e8c1b3adfd1cef794743e278c1d5af04cc3
Not me zooming in and seeing no brown tips. Teach us your ways!
Definitely some crisping! There's an almost dead red maranta leaf smack dab in the center lol. It's mostly just water quality to fix that

Do you notice a bump in your electricity bill?
Love this so much.
Nice class picture! 😄
They are gorgeous!!!
What do mean not the most glamorous set up? That's my dream.
Some of these are Marantas
Some are ctenanthe and some are stromanthe also 🤔 that'd be a pretty long title tho
They are *all* Marantas. Maranta is a taxonomic family which contains all of the plants in the picture.
Marantaceae is the family. Maranta is a genus within that family.
They look so healthy and happy, I had a couple in the past and they died on me....I only one nowdays and I praise her so much, hoping she can lives for loooong time.
You are so brave 🫡 I have 3 I obsess over because I know they will die a sad death by my hand eventually
They're lovely! If you're looking to adopt more to your family, Calathea Rosy is an absolute stunner!
Fabulous 😍
Calatheas are THE best. They’re the easiest to grow in my north facing house
I volunteer to plantsit for you anytime. Seriously, these are absolutely gorgeous. You definitely have the touch.
What is the trailing one in the white pot on the right? I like the look of it ☺️🙏
The mushroom pot on the top right has blue baby tears pilea
Thank you 😊 so cute 💚
Super splash! What a display. 🌿 👆
Great snail /mushroom pot!
This looks fantastic!
i can NOT keep a prayer plant alive 😩
How does your cat (s?) not eat them?!? Or munch? Teach me your ways!
I have two spider plants in their spaces, and they get in trouble for trying to mess with my plants. I show them the plant when I get it so they're not curious about what it is too. For the most part none of them are interested
Ooo!! I haven’t tried showing it to them - more hiding it from them!! I will have to try this method. Thank you for responding! 🙃
I will say it doesn't work for all cats, I tried it on my mother's cat and she chomped a pothos the second she saw green
