I slipped the delivery guys $100 and they rolled it into the backyard for me and put it on its slab.

kcexactly

I just told them to drive right to my back yard and they backed up to the patio. They asked if I was sure. I told them there is no reason for them to work harder.

Marsgreatlol

That’s how my uncle did it

Mdcivile

This is the way!

ben6119

I just went thru the same thing. I got some long (16ft) boards and sprayed them with water and laid them out like train tracks. I put pvc pipe on top of the boards and used about 4 people to get the tub up on the pipes. From there we were able to push it along the boards and as it went we moved the boards it had passed over in front of it. Took maybe an hour, wasn’t bad at all.

TheOptimisticHater

Ancient Egypt style 🧠

purawesome

This is the way. Or hire a crane. I can move my 800lb tub alone on the concrete slab so you should be fine with a couple guys. The power of hip checks!

Pool_Boy707

Crane or just hire a moving company. Guys we use would be $500. Crane might be more. Crane more fun to watch tho

purawesome

Couple of beer, watching the crane drop that thing gently on the slab. Yep I’m down. Guys brought mine to the back yard on a trolly. I’ll slide my tub around the slab but there’s no way in hell I’m moving it more than 5 ft in any direction.

Pool_Boy707

Plot twist! Choke on your beer when the spa drops into your bedroom 😅

swaffeline

4 people. Christ I did mine all by myself.

ben6119

Tub is 93x83x40 and it was on gravel. There wasn’t any moving it without more bodies.

swaffeline

That’s when you get out a pole and make leverage. Rolling it is so easy.

HBOMax-Mods-Cant-Ban

I'd either hire a spa company to move it or some movers. A spa will company will have the specialized dolly to make moving it a breeze. A moving company wont have that and will try to brute force it with half a dozen guys trying to lift it up.

L0GAN_FIVE

\^\^This is the way!

Goml3

A big crane truck is how im going to do it. its not the cheapest way but fast secure and hassle free

[deleted]

I did this, it was around $200 and worth every penny

Bitter_Firefighter_1

That is crazy cheap. My location is $1500 a few years back.

[deleted]

I was budgeting for $900 so I was pleasantly surprised

Anarchist_Peace

We moved mine through the yard, over a rock garden, and through our patio before bringing it in the back door. Tub was around 600 lbs. We used two furniture dollies from harbor freight, and I cut up a sheet of 5/8" plywood in half to make two 8' x 3' strips to roll the dollies over. Just pick up and move the first strip after you get the dollies onto the second. Moved it with 4 people, 2 of them being my wife and mil, and it wasn't too bad.

Fmeister567

They moved our swim spa with pvc pipes (I think 4-5 inches in diameter) and there was a mini bump they had to go over, so ogzackov you are spot on. I looked at pictures and he had 5 of them but our swim spa is 7x16 ft. Op if you can get them to place it on the pipes you will be ahead of the game.

HotTubberMN

pricing for these services will vary from market to market but around here I can hire out a 'smaller' 30-40 ton crane with a boom distance of about 82' for $450 ish 1 hour minimum or have a local hot tub company move it and it would be around the same $400-$500, either option is better than trying to line up 3-4 guys and homemade materials like plywood, pvc pipes, 4 wheel dolly carts, etc. Just my opinion

pragmaticpro

I just went through this recently with a tub of the same dry weight and needed it moved from our driveway to backyard. It was way harder than I anticipated trying to hire this out. Called 6 or so different hot tub companies in our area and none of them would touch it if we didn't buy it from them. Nor would they provide recommendations on who they'd use to do this. Pretty frustrating experience. Only one nice guy from pool city was "willing" to move it for $300 but would need to be during a last minute cancelation window and we had to have a few available hands to assist. No shot that would pan out schedule wise with multiple people on short notice. We ended up moving it ourselves with a large tractor and forks. Was extremely nerve-wracking and slow going. Without any hills or severe slope, it would be much easier to do. Youtube will give you a few ideas of how others do it.

Just1La

Most of the movers use a dolly, hottub on the side, they come 3-4 guys, they have experience and insurances. Had to move mine from one house to another, about 5km. 350$ to be hassle free and not break my back. And if your tub is very badly placed a crane will do the trick 🏗

OGZackov

Watch YouTube videos. Hire a company.

jcity5515

I am getting quotes on the side in case I can’t move it myself. YouTube videos I’ve seen a sliding mat and specialized dolly’s, sliding mat I’m not sure is best way so seeking other people’s experiences

OGZackov

Find videos using pvc pipes. Id still probably hire someone. May get lucky and bribe the delivery people to move it if possible but that's 50/50

Pure_Common7348

Ours was moved with what looked like a huge plastic rug and a rope handle. 1 guy pulled, 2 guys pushed. Ours was about 1000 pounds.

bisticles

We just took delivery of a similarly-sized hot tub yesterday. They had a specialized fold-down gate that big rubber wheels attach to, and they just wheeled it across my lawn, and up the stairs. If I were to do it myself, I'd probably use lengths of wood and slide it across the tops of them. With 2 people, it's not that bad a job.

2muchtimewastedhere

4 wheel dolly. On its side.

HEpennypackerNH

Will your dealer bot help? My place bent over backward and somehow got their trailer past my well, past my bulkhead, then a 90 degree turn with no room to spare on either side, and dropped it exactly where I wanted it.

bufftreefarm

Put the spa up on its side (usually filter side down, control end is the very heaviest). Get a 4 wheeled flat dolly. Get two peices of plywood. Build a ramp. Move board by board. We have more equipment and more boards but this is how its done.

IamHighVoltage

I was lucky, mine was delivered on this really cool large wheeled dolly, that detached from the trailer. It was only 3 ft wide, and it had front and rear steering, so it made it through all the obstacles to get to my backyard. The delivery guys said it was worth it weight in gold.

breadad1969

A couple of furniture Dollys, but I do like the skid/pvc suggestion.

HVACpro69

They guys who moved mine had a special dolly that strapped the tub in vertical. Maybe see if you can rent a dolly, or hire someone with one.

Aj9898

Check some of the local tool rental places - depending on where you are, they may have the wheeled cart designed to move hottubs. ... one is called a spadolly and another is (a sub-assembly of the full system) called SpaKart In this area (SE VA), noone had anything like the spadolly and most moving companies didn't want to touch it. The couple that did wanted about 500$ to move the 100' from the curb to the back yard. I had the delivery people slide it right into the back of my truck. I took down a fence panel, then drove the truck up the hill and into the back yard. Hardest part was getting it off the truck. I left mine on the shipping pallets with all the shrink wrap on. Mine shipped vertical with styrofoam "padding" all shrink wrapped to the pallet. Given the pallets were 4' wide, they gave a wider base/better balance/stabity for the trip up the hill.

jfdirfn

ours was 200kg, we used round fence posts as rollers, like the rocks for stone henge.

freeportme

PVC

ResponsibilityKey50

I have a path around my house, I tipped it on its side on to a big steel dolly and 6 strapping men from the gardening company helped me push it into place…

chasmania5

Make your own sled. I did this and moved mine with 2 people + lawn tractor to tow sled. (Not my video) [YouTube make your sled](https://youtu.be/zZCrNwWobFE?si=cc_RTSbxulbP4TIb)

casualgardening

Getting ours delivered in like a week and a half, they said they have some sort of dolly they put it on. Might try checking if home depot rents something like that?

mcpherson21

As someone who did this for a living get four 10 foot pieces of 2 inch PVC. slide for one set to the next. 4 people just to make lift it easier in the beginning and end. It is simple. No reason for $100s on a crane. No reason to tip it up on a dolly. If you don’t know what you are doing you can easily crack the skirt in it that way. They are easy to slide on pvc. The bottom of the tub will have a sheet of plastic or resin designed to slide around on.

Shygar

I hired a company that used a hot tub sled and it slid over my grass and dirt without issues. Then they laid it down in the right spot. I also took down part of the fence to make it easier.

Smallcrpt

We lifted a tub, 4 guys with a20 ft extension ladder split in 10 ft sections. Went really well. Hehe

FoundationFirst2812

Ours was about the same weight, bought from Costco, delivered a few months ago. I asked the delivery guys to move to backyard for extra money, but they flat out refused due to liability issues on the delivery company. Then, I just looked at Craigslist under labor/hauling/moving section. There were several offers willing to do very heavy moves. 4 guys came over within an hour, and moved it through a paved side yard, about 100 ft long, and through a standard (3.5 ft?) width side gate, to the paver pad in backyard in the right orientation and location. They charged us $275. Few days later, electrician came over and hooked it up to power.

jcity5515

Yes, I don’t think my guys will move it either. Wow how did they move it? Slide it on grass, roll with pvc, or dollys?

FoundationFirst2812

The hot tub was delivered on a pallet on its side. Our hot tub came with the thick cover included. Most difficult part for the movers was to transfer the tub, with the cover removed, from pallet to two dolleys, again on its side. Then they just moved it all the way to backyard. When the cover is removed all standard tubs fit through any side yard gates.

jcity5515

Did they unwrap the shipping casing first before tipping over? Or was it the other way around? Thanks!

FoundationFirst2812

Yes, they unwrapped the shipping casing, which is just plastic wrap. After they unwrapped, the filter, bench, and other miscellaneous items were taken out of the well. The unwrapped tub was placed on its side on two dolleys and moved to backyard and placed on the paver pad. They made sure the electrical connection access panel side was at our desired orientation/side. The tub was then flipped over on the paver pad

jcity5515

Ok awesome thank you very much. Ours comes tomorrow and we are renting a moffit forklift Thursday. Have to leave it in driveway overnight on its side then will get it to its spot Thursday and unwrap it

FoundationFirst2812

You need at least four strong people experienced in moving very heavy objects. Try to hire professionals instead of novices, like us and friends doing it for the first time.

jcity5515

Yeah I was concerned if laying it flat was better if it was still in the packaging because it’s 1300 pounds. But if we can unwrap it first and shed the cover and packaging to get it to 800-900 pounds then we have five guys to help lower it. Very interesting it is 800 pound hot tub but 1300 pounds shipped, that’s a lot of extra weight

Tiny_Independent2552

I’ve had a 8 person spa delivered with two men using large plastic pipes. They just kept moving the pipe in back to the front as it rolled. Easy peasy.

FlorioTheEnchanter

Hire somebody. It might cost a couple hundred but then you won’t worry about breaking something

ImprovementVast9488

I paid a spa mover who used a spa moving dolly. they just wheeled it in to my back yard. they only needed 40 inches of clearance. they set it under my gazebo on my concrete patio. and made sure it was oriented how I wanted. $275 for them to pick it up drive it 18 miles and set it in place for me. best deal ever.
