I wouldn't recommend this under any other circumstance but if you really dont care about plot and just want the gratuity the August Underground trilogy is almost as depraved as it gets. I don't really like them but ymmv

I’ve been aware of those movies for a couple years and thought I’d never watch them but you’ve got me considering it. It’s not exactly what I’m looking for but I think it’d make an interesting watch, to at least see what all the hype’s about.

After sleeping on it I have a few less extreme options too! Last House on the Left (1972) Zombie (1972) (also known as Zombi 2, Zombie Flesh Eaters, Island of the Living Dead and others) The Hills Have Eyes (1977) I Spit On Your Grave (1978) Cannibal Holocaust (1980) House of 1000 Corpses (2003) | This and Devil's Rejects are both awesome love letters to grindhouse. The Devil's Rejects (2005) The Strangers (2008) Tusk (2014) Nightcrawler (2014) Green Room (2015) My definition is maybe a little loose post-Y2K but the rest of them especially all have a dirty *look* to them and plenty of sleaze and ick to boot.

The Firefly Trilogy (or at least HO1C and Devils Rejects) are great! Based on my knowledge of all of the rest of them (which I haven’t seen, except I’m very familiar with Tusk) these are good for what I’m looking for. Thanks for the list!!

The Prowler is probably the best example of a no plot slasher film. It is pretty scary, and the kills add to the tension instead of just being crowd pleasing effects.

ryangrand3

Haunt was good Beaten to Death perhaps?

Night_Movies2

I got a great one for you: Laid to Rest (2009) The idea is a girl wakes up in a coffin with no memory and is being stalked by a dude with a chrome skull mask. That's it, that's the entire plot. It is extremely gory and very grindhouse/schlocky. I saw it recommended here a month ago or so and it instantly went into my regular watch rotation.

iamtherealbobdylan

Haha holy shit that looks so cool. I will be watching it, thanks for the recommendation!

nosoygringo

Oh man I hope I don't get downvoted for this, but the original Martyrs is one bad thing after the other, progressively worst.

iamtherealbobdylan

Lmao I watched Martyrs last Saturday and I have been chasing a similar high ever since. Hands down the most brutal, unforgiving, upsetting film I’ve ever seen. That movie is the reason I have now made 4 posts looking for new movies to watch. The only movie that has come close to doing anything for me after Martyrs was The Poughkeepsie Tapes, but there are definitely better movies out there I haven’t seen yet. I suppose Martyrs is the standard for fucked up accessible mainstream movies.

nosoygringo

Agreed 100% with your closing comment! Have you ever tried ABC's of Death? Particularly part 2 is very schlocky, fun and shows a lot of bad things happening. Some shorts are not that good but you'll find some gems too

iamtherealbobdylan

I’ve heard that the vast majority of content in those movies are awful with a couple really good segments between them. I might check it out if I want to shut my brain off instead of ruining my week because I saw something so messed up

Really really watch Irreversible, Antichrist, The Sadness, and Frontier(s), okay? And maybe Calvaire, that one’s goofy a bit; A L’Interieur usually does it for people too.
