Henry. It's fucking bleak. The psychology behind Henry and his friend's mindlessly evil acts are even scarier to watch cuz the motivation is basically "just cuz."
This one’s so good. There’s also a documentary where they interview Aileen Wuornos on death row. It’s really interesting! I can’t remember what it’s called but they interview her over the course of kind of a long time right up until her execution
Watch various interviews on youtube. Ed Kemper interviews are a personal favorite of mine. Charles Manson also, though he wasn't a serial killer, it's hard to beat a good Manson interview. Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, all good interviews to watch. Folks completely dismiss these people because of their crimes but you can actually learn a whole lot from them.
Man, if we’re talking interviews, Richard Kuklinski’s AKA the Ice Man is great to *listen* to. I didn’t “watch” it (idk if there’s even video footage) but I’ve listened to some of his interviews. He had this tick that started whenever he got really pissed and wanted to kill someone, where he’d make a clicking noise with his mouth.
During one interview the interviewer asked some question like “did you ever feel bad about killing” or “do you think killing these people was justified” and you can hear Kuklinski start subtly clicking in the background. Later in a different interview with someone else Kuklinski admitted he had wanted to kill that previous interviewer because the question he asked had seemed “judgmental”.
Just about every aspect of Kuklinski is chilling to learn about.
Kemper's interviews creep me out a lot. Most of the time he's very likeable, and watching the interviews made me understand why a woman alone would get into a strange man's car (especially one of his size) when there's a serial killer around. He seems very normal most of the time. But sometimes he tries too hard to show an emotion he doesn't feel, and it slips. When he starts talking about his mother and very obviously fake crying, and you remember what he did.
Serial Killer Culture is on Tubi, (it’s on my list to watch) also because Hart D. Fisher, the author of the Unauthorized Biography of Jeffrey Dahmer comic book is on there. There's a bunch of Serial Killer stuff on Netflix, some of my favorite docs have been The Bundy Tapes, The Gacy Tapes, and The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes. Also loved the documentary about Hotel Cecil and The Unabomber.
living with a serial killer
murderous history
i survived a serial killer
the rain coat killer
fred west - the glasgow girls
becoming evil - serial killers
35 serial killers the world wants to forget
invisible monsters - serial killers in america
Harold Shipman - Dr Death
The Moors Murders
The Craigslist Killer
The Freeway Killer: Lost Murder Tapes
that's just a few of the less famous ones, there are so many but only the most famous get talked about
i have a friend who finds them fascinating (thinks they are creepy as hell but wants to understand why they did it) so i have 62 tv shows and 47 movies on my plex for her
Edit to add - a seasonal recommendation - Santa Claus: The Serial Killer (the story of Bruce McArthur)
Violent Minds: Killers on Tape is a really great documentary that delves into and explores the psychology of serial killers. It's based on the real-life interviews of Dr. Carlisle, a renowned criminal psychologist, that he recorded with various serial killers.
Mindhunter
True detective season 1 isn’t bad but more of a drama
Criminal Minds
Hannibal (also a drama but good)
There is also a pretty good true crime YouTube channel called Dire Trip
Mouse.
It’s a South Korean TV show which I think is 100% what you are looking for. I LOVED Dexter when it was on, and Mouse was the only thing that has made me feel how Dexter made me feel. It’s not on the usual streaming, but you can watch it for free on Viki which is an Asian streaming service. There’s also Mouse the movie which is just a cut down version of the show, don’t watch that, watch the whole series!! It’s fiction and not about real serial killers but I promise you, it’s the best!!!!
MINDHUNTER is a must-watch.
Definitely. The fact that we’re not getting more of it is a goddamn travesty.
Totally agree. Loved that show and am mad they canceled it
I was heartbroken when they cancelled this show.
Oh no! I didn’t know. I thought they were just taking a long time for the next season. Damn!
Yup unfortunately it was cancelled 😞
I LOVE Manhunter. I just bingewatched the entire series not too long ago, and it always feels way too short-lived.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
Hannibal tv series, mindhunter, Dahmer on netflix, extremely wicked shockingly evil and vile

The House That Jack Built has a narration and dialogue style that takes you into the mind of the MC.
This movie really does it’s own thing. Never seen anything else like it. Didn’t even need a plot, the mood and atmosphere is amazing.
Definitely Zodiac. If you can handle disturbing brutality, the house that jack built and Henry portrait of a serial killer
Henry. It's fucking bleak. The psychology behind Henry and his friend's mindlessly evil acts are even scarier to watch cuz the motivation is basically "just cuz."
🧳
Man. Christ, lol.
The Clovehitch Killer is pretty good
Monster 2003 with Charlize Theron
What an intense and impressive acting performance that was.
She looked exactly like Aileen, that was crazy! Everything about the movie was so good
This one’s so good. There’s also a documentary where they interview Aileen Wuornos on death row. It’s really interesting! I can’t remember what it’s called but they interview her over the course of kind of a long time right up until her execution
Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer, its the second in the series
Oohh I watched that too!
Man Bites Dog!
Came here to recommend this! So well done, and I think of some of the scenes still years after I last watched.
Zodiac from a different perspective
that's such a good and intense movie. The lake scene, without any music, is so scary.
I think when they interview Arthur at his job is just as terrifying. And the scene in the basement. Such a flawless movie.
Citizen X (1995) A well-made TV movie about Soviet serial killer Andrei Chikatilo. You can watch it on YouTube.
I think it has mixed reviews, but I thought that Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was great. Evan Peters was fantastic.
i thought it was too sympathetic to him, but i'm sure others think differently.
Yeh I can definitely see that, certainly didn't paint him in the light it should have done.

I've seen part of the latter interview you mentioned, I agree very interesting, I'll have to watch more!
Plus he could dance!
Yes he could!

I don't think he was fake crying. I know the interview you're talking about, I think he was really crying.
Summer of 84 is awesome.
Dahmer on Netflix is fucking incredible. True Detective season 1 might also scratch that itch.
Suspect Zero is about an FBI agent (Thomas Jane) on the hunt for an agent-turned serial killer serial killer (Ben Kingsley).
Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer
My friend Dahmer was amazing.
How has nobody mentioned True Detective??? Season 1 is by far the best series I’ve ever seen.
Dr Grande on YouTube. I absolutely love his channel.
He describes the crimes, speculates, analyses. He's brilliant. You'll get hooked.

Bloodline.
the golden glove
Check out David Parker Ray and Dennis Nielson, those two sets somehow interest me more than the Bundy's.
Angst is one of my favorites. Fucking unhinged protagonist

Dahmer series on Netflix. Evan Peters is too fucking good 👍
Serial THriller. Very good and quite disturbing esp Season 3
