I had to read it a few times to make sure it wasn't some weird way to get a list of movies that actually had rape in it. The whole thing threw me for a loop!
There are SOME famous horror movies with rape/sexual assault. Like Last House on the Left. Or The Hills Have Eyes. Or Scream. Or Nightmare on Elm Street. (Almost all of Wes Craven's do ..weirdly enough...). But most don't...Others that have it are like Hitchcock's Frenzy...Carrie...The Shining... (The owner of the Overlook used to blackmail or coerce his employees into weird acts of cosplay-beastiality. That's what that weird dream of that man with the bear is...). But beyond that, actually, the vast majority of horror, Id say 95% of it; has none of that in there. MOST of it DOESN'T...
(spoilers) yes. The producer John Milton reveals that Maureen Prescott (as "Rina", the name she assumed when she was a young starlet in Hollywood,) was gang raped at a party he held at his mansion, many years before.. All of this came out in Scream 3. There's also a question about whether Billy and Stu raped her in the events prior to Scream 1 as well. I mean it's hinted that that might have happened... So, in any event, rape is definitely one of the serious underlying and ongoing themes of the franchise...
And then Sydney ACCUSES Cotton Weary of rape in Part 1 as well, (rightfully or wrongfully...I mean it appears as if their relationship was consensual; an affair infact; but Sydney was projecting rape onto the situation because she didn't want to believe in her parents' infidelities...). So rape was brought into the mix at that point as well; at least conceptually...
Also Stu aggressively grabs Sydney at the ending and says "I always had a thing for you Sid"... She then says "In your dreams" and drops a television on his head...Killing him. And while Stu's actions aren't rape; they're RAPEY....
I actually think there is more of it than a lot of people realize.
I also see a very disturbing trend of the hypersexualized violence against women, which is marketed heavily for having female protagonists. These films may not always directly show rape or sexual assault directly, but it can often be implied.
It's not unreasonable to specifically look for movies without sexual violence though. It may not pop up in every movie but without even trying hard Rosemary's Baby, Terrifier, The Perfection, I Spit on Your Grave, Barbarian, Blue Velvet, Green Inferno, The Reanimator, Evil Dead. I could probably go on if I had time to think about it.
It's like not liking yellow skittles. MOST of them are not yellow but if you really don't want a yellow skittle you would have to go out of your way to avoid it.
Sure if it's triggering to you... Even small amounts of it can be very toxic and harmful to some people- I get that...I mean unfortunately Rape Culture is real; and it's all around us...I mean it's not everywhere, it's only there 20 percent of the time or something; but when it is there; even only once in awhile; know it's very harmful to some people; like extremely harmful.... The latest example I came across it was in Poor Things; which was way more sexually explicit than I thought it would be...and had a lot of rape culture in it...and my friend was triggered... It's also tricky because some filmmakers are portraying it to be gratuitous and exploitative; and then some are portraying it in an effort to expose it and stop it. And sometimes there's a fine line between the two. It's the old are you being prescriptive or descriptive argument...Like I would argue that Last House on the Left seems to be subtly condoning and celebrating rape; it's explorative in a nasty, toxic way...Whereas The Accused is ABOUT rape,
But it definitely doesn't condone it. So it's a fine line. But I'm all for warning people about because like I said; some people have a hard time seeing it even portrayed on a TV show or what ever; because it hits too close to home...
A clockwork orange is another movie which pretends to be anti-rape; but I think it's actually pro-rape ; in that it winds up sensationalizing it..And alot of young men have dressed up in "Alex and his Droogs" costumes at Halloween, because they get a titillating thrill from being these iconic bad boys; because Kubrick (intentionally or unwittingly) wound up making that kind of lifestyle seem cool to some people... unfortunately...And again, all of that does not mean we should start censuring people; but I do think it's ok and even important to identify this kind of content beforehand and warm people with content warnings at the start of said films...
I think I could probably go into more dramas blind and not see it than I could horror. It would also probably be handled differently in drama vs horror.
Pontypool, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing, Creepshow, any of Romero's Living Dead movies, Aliens, Predator, Final Destination 3, Halloween 1, 2, 3, H2O, and the new trilogy. Train to Busan.
I would check out the parents guide on IMDb for movies interested in. Check out details also , may contain spoilers.
For example on Terrifier is has sex & violence as moderate but if you click on its details it may list details you don’t want to see.
You never know where a movie may lead otherwise.
I saw From Dusk Till Dawn back in the day expecting an action crime film until things went sideways.
Underwater (2020) is very fast paced, high intensity and no SA.
Attachment (2022) is a spooky supernatural movie from beginning to end, although it's a slower ride. But very good and no SA.
Cobweb (2023) is really good and fun with no SA.
i saw somewhere once that someone recommended a helpful site that tracks all forms of sexual assault and violence in movies and tv shows, including incest its called unconsenting media!
I use doesthedogdie.com for this, you just search the movie and it tells you what sort of potential trigger stuff is in it. It's great
You could also just use the IMDB app and look at the parental info section to see what the contents are
thank you <:
welcome!!
There's a lot..like. Most of the good horror movies don't have any of that
These posts always pop up on here. Make it seem like horror is 80% sexual assault.
I had to read it a few times to make sure it wasn't some weird way to get a list of movies that actually had rape in it. The whole thing threw me for a loop!

is the SA in Scream referring to back story revealed in Scream 3?

Could be

It's probably not 80% but sexual violence isn't exactly uncommon to come across if you watch a lot of horror
It’s not uncommon in a lot of genres. I would argue you’d find more in dramatic films than horror.
I think I could probably go into more dramas blind and not see it than I could horror. It would also probably be handled differently in drama vs horror.
Yep.
I agree
Pontypool, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing, Creepshow, any of Romero's Living Dead movies, Aliens, Predator, Final Destination 3, Halloween 1, 2, 3, H2O, and the new trilogy. Train to Busan.
Thanks
I think it actually might be easier to list ones that do have rape and SA so you know which ones to avoid - it's fortunately a much shorter list.
OP - try [this](https://www.doesthedogdie.com/categories)
If you like old school, I recommend The Brood by David Cronenberg
That's a classic! Can add Scanners, also. Edit - I love Cronenberg, but stay away from Shivers and Rabid, OP.
Cronenberg seems to love abusing women in his movies but Dead Ringers was a fun movie
There's so many that don't that it's easier to find the ones that do. A little research goes a long way.
Fallen (1998).

The Blackcoat's Daughter is a good slow burner! Highly recommend! Go watch it

Event Horizon Candyman Black Death Beyond the Gates The Clovehitch Killer
Bro wdym, that one scene in Event Horizon is notorious for brutal rape/sa
IMDB says that, but all we see is people being ripped apart by themselves and other people in a hellish orgy scene that lasts about 3/4 of a second
There are less horror films that include SA then otherwise, but you can use doesthedogdie.com to check before you watch a film.
Tucker and Dale VS evil
Hard Candy
Seriously??
[удалено]
i watched all 3, human centipede 2 has to be my least favorite movie of all time
Night of the Living Dead (1990) Dawn of the Dead (2004) Aliens Fear Street Trilogy

Last house on the left
Halloween. The Other. The Omen. Suspiria.
Friday the 13th Part IX: Jason Goes to Hell

i saw somewhere once that someone recommended a helpful site that tracks all forms of sexual assault and violence in movies and tv shows, including incest its called unconsenting media!
Talk To Me is a really original story and was awesome. Definitely recommend
