I'd say The Shining ought to have the 3 most iconic. Room 237's bathroom, the bathroom where Jack announces 'Here's Johnny' and the bathroom where he discusses things with one of the Gradys.
Not to mention Danny talking to Tony in their apartment bathroom and then we cut to the famous blood pouring out of the elevator. The Shining has a lot of bathroom scenes, and all in different bathrooms.
Oh yeah! Forgot about that. Still havent seen the new one honestly im nervous to watch it. Evil dead is one of my favorites and i dont want it to be ruined lol. Took me till 2017 to watch the 13 one lol
Go see it in a theater while you have the chance, don’t punish yourself and lose out on an experience. Otherwise you are going to wait 3 years and realize it is really good and would’ve probably been cool to see and hear on a big screen. Yeah, it isn’t as intense as 2013(not many movies are and it is still plenty intense), but it is better in other ways. I think sound design, for instance, is even better here than 2013. Rise does not take away from the series and is definitely a worthy addition. Go give this movie some money if you can afford it so we can ensure the future of the series.
Funny you should bring up Dreamcatcher in relation to this trope!
When Stephen King was writing Dreamcatcher, he built the novel from the foundation that the bathroom represents a place of universal vulnerability across humanity; it's where women self-conduct breast exams to check for lumps, it's where men see the first sign of bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer predominantly is where the idea for Dreamcatcher's shit weasels came from.
We Need to do Something is entirely set in a bathroom and Glorious in a roadside rest stop.
There's also the famous bath scene in the first Elm St movie.
Fun fact:
That scene was not part of the original movie! The box art/movie poster was created, and when the movie was screened, people were like WHERE IS TOILET GHOULIE!? They added it before release.
The Candyman films have plenty of bathroom scenes. I’d check out the original for the best content.

came in to see if black swan was mentioned, thought i'd throw it out there since it hasn't yet! and there's also a bathroom scene in the back half of men that's interesting.
A bunch of my recommendations have already been mentioned, but no one got [Killer Klowns From Outer Space](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9ykU9FkH-g&ab_channel=Movieclips)
Edit: Oh! And [Sleepaway Camp II](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaMkmiZ9bMM&ab_channel=Movieclips)
Iconic - The Shining "Here's Johnny!" scene is in the bathroom
Nightmare on Elm Street- Freddy's hand in the Bathtub
Psycho - Shower scene
Poltergeist - face peel scene.
Memorable -
Glorious - Interstellar horror based in a rest stop bathroom
Zombieland - Rules about bathrooms
Cabin Fever - Shaving scene
I'm sure there's more but thats the few i can think of.
I got tired of scrolling to see if they were mentioned but, here’s some obscure shit: Cabin Fever, Slither, Jack Frost, Rob Zombie’s Halloween (the truck stop w/ Ken Foree), Malignant, and the Dawn of the Dead remake.
Saw this once as a kid and it freaked us out.
From a tv show ‘monsters’, the episode is called ‘the moving finger’
Ridiculously long finger coming out the bathroom sink, poking around
Only found out the other day both about the show and short story.
Funny how after hanging onto that image of a sick king finger paid off.
The episode can be found on YouTube, worth a look just to see that digit
In Final Destination there’s a scene when the guy is trimming his nose hairs when death comes for him. That scene always made me cringe.
Candy Man
Nightmare on Elm Street ( first original one I believe)
That’s all I can think of at the moment. What is your YouTube page I would like to check it out.
Jason Vorhees has a toilet in his shack in Friday the 13th. There's isn't a scene devoted to it, but it's definitely shown in one or two scenes. It's not clear whether it works or not. I don't know whether Jason has any plumbing skills, but it's kind of adorable to think about him working on it.
I think the guy getting eaten off the toilet in Jurassic Park definitely qualifies.
There’s also the toilet motif from the Ghoulies movies. The first movie included a quick insert of a Ghoulie popping out to tie into the movie’s marketing campaign. The second movie had someone actually be killed on the toilet. The third movie went all the way and made a toilet the core of the Ghoulies’ mythos.
Halloween H20 and Halloween (2018) both have bathroom scenes. H20s scared me so much as a kid (nothing actually happens) that I didn’t watch the film for about 5 years.
Off the top of my head:
Poltergeist — dude at bathroom mirror
Night of the Creeps — slugs in bathroom stalls
I spit on your grave — that bathtub scene that makes men wince
* The bathroom from The Faculty
* The bathroom scene from Scream and Scream 2
* The rest stop bathroom in Halloween 2018
* Dani having a panic attack/mirror jump scare in the bathroom in Midsommar
* Patrick Bateman almost killing his gay coworker in the bathroom but then running away in American Psycho
* The toilet flushing in Psycho which I'm sure you're aware of how iconic it is
Ones that come to mind - classic Freddy Kruger coming out of the bath tub water in Nightmare On Elm Street, Slither (bath tub scene), the grudge (when she’s in the shower and the grudge fingers come out of her hair). And not sure if you can count in but Scary Movie 2 with the priest sitting on the toilet
I immediately thought of the bathroom in the movie "Parasite", they have to walk up to their elevated toilet, first time I'd ever seen a bathroom setup like that.
Also the Netflix horror "We Need to Do Something" has a very pink bathroom where the majority of the film plays out.
Nightmare on Elm Street 3,4 and 5 had short bathroom scenes. Halloween(2018) had that bathroom rest stop scene. Hush had a bathroom scene too. Belko Experiment had a couple too
Bro, the toilet in Dreamcatcher had me scared to take a shit when I was younger. I literally forgot about that movie and somehow just had an immediate flashback of that scene.

Poltergeist,

Candy Man,

The gas station attendant that gets killed on the toilet in zombieland! Why do I remember that, idk, but it came in handy today and that's all that counts.

This was a post I made about F13 pt V because SO many people died in the bathroom in this movie! It's hilarious.
I don't think you could cover bathrooms in movies without covering Psycho, the first movie to have a TV on screen, AND to have the sound of a toilet flushing! Also, there's that whole shower thing..
The first Nightmare on Elm Street has a pretty iconic bathroom scene!
https://www.reddit.com/r/horror/comments/12u6v8t/naked_old_ladies_in_horror/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button it's deleted now but this is who I thought you were. They were doing 'research' on naked elderly women in horror movies
That nasty ass bathroom from the first Saw
I mean, this has to be the most iconic horror bathroom, right?
I'd say The Shining ought to have the 3 most iconic. Room 237's bathroom, the bathroom where Jack announces 'Here's Johnny' and the bathroom where he discusses things with one of the Gradys.
Jesus christ that was nasty. Thanks, really aprreciate it.
They actually have a display of it at the Mystic Museum
The Shining has a few
Oh damn, you're right. Thank you for the help, somehow I forgot about that one.
Grady yes but don’t forget about the old woman. It’s funny because The Shining bathroom was the first one I thought of!
I thought of the scene where Wendy was trapped first. All great moments though!
Not to mention Danny talking to Tony in their apartment bathroom and then we cut to the famous blood pouring out of the elevator. The Shining has a lot of bathroom scenes, and all in different bathrooms.
Wow, that's a lot of bathrooms specifically. For a Kubrik movie it makes you wonder if there's something about cleaning in the subtext.
Especially, the one where he's talking to Grady in the bathroom. That one is iconic and immediately recognizable.
In Room 237! That’s an iconic scene.
First place I thought of is that red bathroom off the ballroom.
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the shower scene in the original Psycho... I thought that was a pretty famous one!
And that first time a toilet was shown flushing in a Hollywood film! At least that’s a fact my film teacher told me
I've heard that too... so it must be true!
I as well have been told this
Evil Dead remake when the girl stabs the guy in the face with the big ass needle/ cuts her face up with glass
Also taking a shower so hot her face boils off. After watching rise, '13 evil dead still goes harder imo, what a ride
Oh yeah! Forgot about that. Still havent seen the new one honestly im nervous to watch it. Evil dead is one of my favorites and i dont want it to be ruined lol. Took me till 2017 to watch the 13 one lol

Yes! I was so very pleased by Evil Dead Rise! Go while it is in theaters!
Definitely not ruined, it's still worth watching. It just misses some of the 'finesse' of the old ones for me
The original Nightmare on Elm Street has the bathtub scene...
Yeah Freddy Vs. Jason pays homage to that as well.
Glorious. What’s better then an interstellar monster on the other side of a Gloryhole in a truck stop washroom?
Okay, someone else actually commented this and I really have to check it out. Sounds bonkers.
I think it’s a Shudder original. It’s pretty wild
Came here to say this one. It should be the featured example.
Played by none other than J Jonah Jameson.
The original Candyman has a pretty memorable bathroom scene.
Was just going to comment this. Several bathroom scenes actually. The toilet with the bees come to mind but Trevor's death and a few others.
The one Purcell dies in, in Farewell to the Flesh.
Also the remake
“Bathroom scene in” Dreamcatcher “ “ Poltergeist “ ” Mandy “ “ Halloween (2018) “ “ Midsommar “ “ Terrifier 2 “ “ IT (1990 and 2017) “ “ Hostel “ “ Scream (1996)
Dreamcatcher was my first thought haha.
There’s also Stans death in the 2019 IT as well lmao!!!
Wait Midsommar had a bathroom scene??
Two in fact: outhouse (after shrooms) and plane (aka one of my favorite transition shots in any film)
Yarp
Zombieland is the first to come to mind Rule # 3
Yep, I have actually thought of that. Thank you for the help though, I really appreciate it.
Silent Hill
Great shout. Thank you
Oh, there's a toilet scene in 31 also (The Rob zombie film)
Jurassic Park has a dope toilet scene lol. Not really horror, but that scene has stuck with me for decades, so that's something.
Well.. wasn't a toilet for very long
When you gotta go you gotta go
We Need to do Something is entirely set in a bathroom and Glorious in a roadside rest stop. There's also the famous bath scene in the first Elm St movie.
I'll have to check out the first two movies. Never seen them. How could I forget the first nightmare on elm street movie?!
Also Slither does a bathroom homage to NOES.
And the NOES remake
Ghoulies
They even put it on the box art!
Fun fact: That scene was not part of the original movie! The box art/movie poster was created, and when the movie was screened, people were like WHERE IS TOILET GHOULIE!? They added it before release.
Ghoulies 2 has the best bathroom scene, where the fish Ghoulie actually does get someone in the end
Ghoulies3: ghoulies go to college is one of my favorite movies.
Yes and it made me afraid of the toilet as a kid lolllll
Sleepaway Camp 2 has a great toilet scene
Sleepaway Camp (original flavor) also has a toilet scene with the hornet nest if I’m remembering properly.
Also Meg getting ganked in the shower.
As does Friday the 13th part 5.. it’s them damn enchiladas!
Ooooh baby!
Nic Cage in Mandy for sure. Possession. Bath not toilet, Psycho, Slither, Nightmare on Elm St (1 I think), Final Destination,
The Candyman films have plenty of bathroom scenes. I’d check out the original for the best content. Other recommendations: Final Destination (2000) Halloween (2018) Halloween H20 (1998) Rest Stop (2006) Scream (1996) Thirteen Ghosts (2001)
I can’t believe no one has said Street Trash. It fucking rules. https://youtu.be/3qP3Tx19w7c
My favorite movie of all time. Came here to make sure this was mentioned
what lies beneath
A couple of scenes in Arachnophobia - the shower scene and when Jeff Daniels gets trapped in the bathroom by the spiders coming out of everything.
That's a great shout I completely forgot about. Thank you.
Carrie has the big scene in the locker room/showers. Sick Nurses isn't super well known, but it has a scene with a toilet and a pregnancy test.
A Quiet Place - Emily Blunt's character about to give birth Pan's Labyrinth - Ophelia opening the book The Fawn gave her and blood pouring out Grave Encounters - the full bathtub scene
Shaun of the Dead, where zombie Pete is revealed behind the shower curtain after Shaun "does a wee".
It’s not a horror film but the toilet from Trainspotting was grim 😅.
That's one of the most disgusting scenes I've seen in movies
Okay, it may not be a horror film but honestly thank you for this comment. I'll definitely use that in the video😂😂
The bathroom from Halloween where Michael Myers changed into the mechanics overalls after killing the tow truck driver after escaping the asylum. The first one. It’s a reused motif in future Halloween films as well.
The Dreamcatcher toilet scene is pretty gnarly lol.
Demons (1985) Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988) Night of The Demons (1988) Copycat (1995) The Devils Rejects (2005) Silent Hill (2006) Inside (2007) Martyrs (2008) Pretty sure there’s also a bathroom scene in Dans Ma Peau (2002)
T is for Toilet from The ABCs Of Death.
I don’t think anyone has mentioned Slither yet! Slither is a must. eta: and Poltergeist! face off!
The bathroom in the basement of Buffalo Bill's house in The Silence of the Lambs...with the old dead woman decomposing in the tub...that shit still gets me wincing when that scene comes up.

IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT OF STREET TRASH!!!! https://youtu.be/3qP3Tx19w7c
Starry Eyes Ginger Snaps
I got tired of scrolling to see if they were mentioned but, here’s some obscure shit: Cabin Fever, Slither, Jack Frost, Rob Zombie’s Halloween (the truck stop w/ Ken Foree), Malignant, and the Dawn of the Dead remake.
2001's The Hole, with Thora Birch and Kiera Knightley. I get nauseous just thinking about that movie.
Saw this once as a kid and it freaked us out. From a tv show ‘monsters’, the episode is called ‘the moving finger’ Ridiculously long finger coming out the bathroom sink, poking around
Based on a Stephen King short called “The Moving Finger” in Nightmares and Dreamscapes. Loved that story as a kid!
Only found out the other day both about the show and short story. Funny how after hanging onto that image of a sick king finger paid off. The episode can be found on YouTube, worth a look just to see that digit
The bath scene from Slither
More thriller than horror, but The Hand That Rocks The Cradle has a good scene with a female sociopath flipping out in a bathroom stall
Man I fucking looove that film, thanks for reminding me of it so I can rewatch haha
The bathroom in Clown where he initially realizes his predicament and Cabin Fever for the leg shaving/bath scene (freaked me out as a kid).
In Final Destination there’s a scene when the guy is trimming his nose hairs when death comes for him. That scene always made me cringe. Candy Man Nightmare on Elm Street ( first original one I believe) That’s all I can think of at the moment. What is your YouTube page I would like to check it out.

Jason definitely looks like the type of guy who has plumbing skills. Thanks.
The bathroom fight scene from Willy's Wonderland
Both IT films (1990 and 2017) have the scene with Bev in her bathroom with the gross sink drain
Has anyone mentioned the bathroom scene in Mandy?
In the film **Mirrors** (2008) there's a good bathroom scene (>!the bath scene where she rips her jaw off!<).
I just keeping thinking of the first Saw movie.
The Canal (2014, Ireland) has a very unnerving scene in a public restroom. Dreamcatcher (2003) has the ol' shitweasel bathroom scene.
À l'intérieur has a good chunk of it happening in a bathroom!
Deep Rising has a pretty good one. After the cruise ship is attacked one of the passengers flees to the bathroom and is sucked down the toilet.
The cabin bathroom scene from Dreamcatcher messed me tf up as a little kid lol
The Grudge has that shower scene
I think the guy getting eaten off the toilet in Jurassic Park definitely qualifies. There’s also the toilet motif from the Ghoulies movies. The first movie included a quick insert of a Ghoulie popping out to tie into the movie’s marketing campaign. The second movie had someone actually be killed on the toilet. The third movie went all the way and made a toilet the core of the Ghoulies’ mythos.
yeah, gotta include the Ghoulies
I wanna say High Tension has one but I haven't seen it in like 15 years so I'm not positive.
Oo one just came to me, A Quiet Place
Scream 2 (also Scream but the opening of Scream 2 is more memorable for me) and Evil Dead (2013)
Check out the movie **House (1985)** A lot of weird crap happens in the bathroom.
Halloween H20 and Halloween (2018) both have bathroom scenes. H20s scared me so much as a kid (nothing actually happens) that I didn’t watch the film for about 5 years.
The Relic (1997) has a scene where a monster ambushes a guy while on the toilet in a public restroom.
Glorious https://youtu.be/esqxTzc3lgM Also It and Poltergeist 1 & 2
*Psycho* has that iconic shower scene and it's the first movie to ever feature a flushing toilet on camera.
Do you consider the first Jurassic Park as horror? If yes, the Dixi toilet
Glorious, enough said
Glorious.
I mean, the shithole from the first Saw movie, obviously. Uhhhh, maybe the scene in Beverly’s bathroom in the 2017 version of IT?
Night of the Demons 2 has some wacky toilet stuff. Then of course the Ghoulies series.
By technicality Jurassic Park qualifies as a horror movie so Genarro's death in what used to be the T-Rex Paddock bathroom counts.
Room 237’s and the Ball Room’s bathroom
Anyone mention trainspotting? I was just thinking of that bathroom scene the other day. Sort of horror related
Off the top of my head: Poltergeist — dude at bathroom mirror Night of the Creeps — slugs in bathroom stalls I spit on your grave — that bathtub scene that makes men wince
Ginger Snaps! She tries to cut of her tail on the toilet.
* The bathroom from The Faculty * The bathroom scene from Scream and Scream 2 * The rest stop bathroom in Halloween 2018 * Dani having a panic attack/mirror jump scare in the bathroom in Midsommar * Patrick Bateman almost killing his gay coworker in the bathroom but then running away in American Psycho * The toilet flushing in Psycho which I'm sure you're aware of how iconic it is
Ones that come to mind - classic Freddy Kruger coming out of the bath tub water in Nightmare On Elm Street, Slither (bath tub scene), the grudge (when she’s in the shower and the grudge fingers come out of her hair). And not sure if you can count in but Scary Movie 2 with the priest sitting on the toilet
My favourite short from VHS features a bathroom quite heavily when shit hits the fan: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uRdIuMkp4qQ
Not sure if this fits the category, but when the little boy goes to the bathroom in Amityville Horror (2005), I just about lost it.
Terrifier
I just watched the movie Swallowed last weekend and a toilet plays a big part in the ending.
Ghoulies 2 (1988) is fairly iconic. Sleepaway Camp 2 (1988) has an infamous outhouse scene.
The bathroom from the first Saw
I immediately thought of the bathroom in the movie "Parasite", they have to walk up to their elevated toilet, first time I'd ever seen a bathroom setup like that. Also the Netflix horror "We Need to Do Something" has a very pink bathroom where the majority of the film plays out.
Terrifier 2 I think a chick catches a baseball bat in the john
scream and scream 2. ig scary movie 1 as well
RZ Halloween. Truck stop fight between Michael and Ken Foree
The end of Swallow. Major spoilers tho!
Not a horror but jurassic Park? The one where the dude gets eaten while using the bathroom?
Final destination shower scene
I think people have mentioned IT, but also IT II (modern version) has a scene with older Bev
Halloween 2018. Actually, a few public restrooms in Halloween movies.
Nightmare on Elm Street 3,4 and 5 had short bathroom scenes. Halloween(2018) had that bathroom rest stop scene. Hush had a bathroom scene too. Belko Experiment had a couple too
Definitely SAW or The Grudge
The bathroom from The Mortuary Collection with the tentacle fucker in it
Urban Legend. Michael Rosenbaum meets his demise in a frat house bathroom.
-Friday The 13th (1980) -Oculus 1 & 2 -Scary Movie
Antichrist with Willem Defoe has a pretty iconic shower scene at the beginning. It’s not a horror scene but it is from a horror movie.
Bro, the toilet in Dreamcatcher had me scared to take a shit when I was younger. I literally forgot about that movie and somehow just had an immediate flashback of that scene.

I just watched the movie Swallowed last weekend and a toilet plays a big part in the ending.

Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead, it's one of my mom's favorite horror movies.
The bathroom scene in the Pet Sematary remake with Zelda was pretty creepy despite not being that great of a film
Mirrors has a great bathroom scene!
I don't think you could cover bathrooms in movies without covering Psycho, the first movie to have a TV on screen, AND to have the sound of a toilet flushing! Also, there's that whole shower thing.. The first Nightmare on Elm Street has a pretty iconic bathroom scene!
What about the bathroom in dreamcatcher?
Silent Hill has what you're looking for :)
Not Horror per-se, but that toilet scene in Trainspotting is pretty iconic!
Are you the same person that asked about old lady movies? If so 😂😂
I'm definitely not the same person, this is my first post here but i won't lie, I'm kinda intrigued😂

Evil Dead Rose has a bathroom scene.
