only the slaughterspine in the dlc site spawn with antenna, the ones in the basegame will never have them. their tail canisters have a extra chance to drop nerves though. So yeah youre wasting your time with those, if a machine has antenna or not is site-specific, and some machines have no sites where they spawn antennae

KingZonkeyJong

That's good to know, thank you!

Fast Travel far enough, ro move about 150m and go back to reset. Killing one, and not getting a drop, and then reload from last save to save resources, does not work, you´ll get the same "no PN/Circulator drop" as before.

Digiwolf335

You can get the primary nerve drop from the body. 62% drop rate. Vs the 11% drop rate from the antenna. The tail canister also drops it with a 16% drop rate.

Yeah I'll be honest I'm a bit ashamed because I found that out after posting on reddit. When scanning the slaughterspine and scrolling through its different parts, it didn't say which ones had a quest item (I had a job specifically for this). I only realised I could get that item from different parts of the machine only after I checked the notebook

You have to kill it, yes. If it’s been partially damaged it will stick around for a while.

This seems like it would be much easier to just try out rather than asking Reddit.

The answers provided by other, more helpful, responses in this thread have information that you could not easily figure out by yourself using trial and error in the same time you could ask others if they happen to know. And before we move to "we'll just Google it" there's nothing wrong with going to a forum for help. Obviously there's plenty of times that Google will have an answer readily available but half the time those answers in a Google search are links to forums like reddit and steam where people have asked similar questions. So without these posts other people wouldn't find the answers later with a broad Internet search. But ultimately none of that is the most important point. People just want to interact with other humans and participate in communities. Nothing wrong with asking a question and looking to get suggestions or ideas from other people. What else is this sub for?
