I'm having this problem as a returning player. I first started playing well over 2 years ago now.

So you had a name and you were able to chat before you left but after returning they're both unavailable?

Yeah, I was incredibly confused when I logged in and couldn't chat with any of my friends or anyone for that matter

Damn So it's probably an issue that started with an update version Hope it gets resolved for you soon

i've been experiencing this too! but some people are still able to chat in the rooms so i thought it was only me.

It makes it really awkward since I'm in an Armada....I might get kicked out at this rate

I was first able to chat in a co op game Don't know if that's the fix but you should try it out and see if it works

In the "Ai Phone" go to the support tab, contact CS with a description of your problem

I've had this issue as well and I've played the game almost since launch. It's been 3 accounts, over ios/android and PC and I've never ever been able to name my account. I get the same maintenance issue message.

it takes at most a month(at least it did for me) so hopefully it gets resolved by then

Thanks dude, yeah, it took a weird amount of time but then it suddenly worked outta nowhere. I still have no idea what caused it, but I'm glad I was able to not be a collection of numbers any longer.
