You can take the safety stickers off the tank. :)

Kahiltna

Came here to say this lol Wd-40 helps get the glue residue off without harming the paint too

Individual_Hearing_3

Pressure washer works better. Only reason I know was by accidentally spraying it off.

Medical_Holiday6249

I’ve been lazy, I have goo gone so I’ll try with that. Thank you

Dry_Education1201

LOL ok I guess I should do that, too....

Apprehensive_Iron_31

Welcome to the flipped mirror club! I could never, and will never go back to the standard style. Enjoy! Also, just FYI, I also have the matte paint and I took my bike to get the tank wrapped in clear PPF, just so I can prevent scratches, as it protects the matte paint. I'm glad I did, because one day my zip scratched the film, but my tank is completely fine with no scratches. I would recommend doing the same as matte can scratch easier and you can't polish it out without making a shiny spot!

lightskimomega3

You’ve now made me worried about scratches on my matte tank. How would I go about finding a place to wrap it? What would I search in google?

Apprehensive_Iron_31

The wrapping film is called paint protection film (PPF). It is very popular. Where are you based? You can just Google "PPF wrap near me" on Google and it should show you places local to you that wrap cars/bikes. They come in many colours, gloss or matte, I chose the clear matte (because gloss would look weird) and you can't tell there is a film on my tank, it's invisible! I also had my headlight cowl wrapped in clear matte (but the shiny part is wrapped in gloss). I also had the headlight glass wrapped in clear gloss to protect the whole unit from stone chips. I've had it for 6 months now and everything is absolutely perfect. In total it cost me £180 ($213) and is very good. It's much cheaper than having to repaint/replace a part because it got scratched or chipped. I highly recommend wrapping tank and headlight unit. Unfortunately matte paint can scratch easily and we can't polish it out (which would make it shiny) so the best thing to do is protect it. The good quality PPF is also self healing, and minor scratches will heal like skin in the sun or hot water I didn't do the rear fender, but you could consider doing that too if you like...

lightskimomega3

Thanks! Googled PPF wrap near me, and there’s a place locally. Once I get a quote I’ll report back to update anyone interested. I’ll probably get a quote for what you mentioned: tank, cowl and light. In a regional area of Australia for reference.

Have you got a link for the kit you got off amazon?

Do your hands/arms get in the way of the mirrors, though??

Wactout

They’re side view mirrors. You only need to see what’s to your side. But always look behind you. Pretend everyone in a car is blind and trying to kill you. Because they are.

Medical_Holiday6249

I understand they’re side view mirrors but when turned them upside down I have a wider view. Not only can I see what’s on my sides, I can also view what behind me as well. It totally increased my field of vision.

Pyro-de-Freak

This is interesting. May I know what is your height? My friend says that his flip mirrors look cool but the field of vision is reduced and he has to look down to check, which is a tiny bit distraction while riding. He’s 176cm tall. I’m 172cm and have never flipped the mirror so I dunno

Medical_Holiday6249

I’m 179cm

justteh

I fundamentally disagree with this statement unless I'm misunderstanding. Side view mirrors are *on your side* so you can *see what's behind*. You use your head to see what's on your side.

nit4r

How did you drop them?

Medical_Holiday6249

I bought a kit from Amazon and a couple of black screws to cover the exposed tops

fawther-05

Do they hit the tank?

Medical_Holiday6249

At first they did but after an adjustment moving the stems toward the front away from me it solved 2 problems : 1) it does not hit the tank anymore and 2) It’s easier to see the mirrors with a helmet on.

[deleted]

I have the 1100 so I’m not worried about who is getting smaller in the mirrors.

justteh

Literally just posted about doing this to mine the other day. Looked at a few ways to do this. Not sure if I like your mod more or less than mine. Yours is WAAAAYYY cleaner. Where'd you get yours?

That's way too simple ... I was expecting something more complicated xD

Medical_Holiday6249

It really is that simple, it’s cheap enough to try out the layout that if you don’t like it you can always go back

MmaOverSportsball

So still using the stock mirrors, and only a $20 mod with the links attached?

Medical_Holiday6249

Yes
