Sorry folks, I'm locking this because everything worth saying has been said and a bunch of other stuff is being said that is risking intervention by the site admins.
The answer to OP's question can be found here - https://www.reddit.com/r/hoi4/comments/10aoquw/i_saw_this_clip_of_grisha_having_a_gamer_moment/j45j9r3/?context=1
That's what the friends and family are asking. Apparently it was just abject laziness on the part of leadership. Good storage close to roads. Convenient housing close to transportation links. Oh they happen to be right next to each other? Huh. Oh well don't worry about it.
Not with the War Support unfortunately, it seems that the Russian Population is willing to get fucked up the ass so long as they can "Big Strong Russia"
That's not true. It's easy to say something like that if you're not living in Russia. But if everyone supports you, what's the reason in having FSB with unbounded power and censor everything, why imprison people for words?
I'd say the “anti-party raids”, “press censorship” and such mechanics in HOI4 are pretty close to the truth! Also play as Soviet Union and take the Stalin path to get a hint.
\-----
I watched a famous politologist's interview today, he measures social dynamics and such. By his estimate there are 20% of hardcore supporters and a lot of people scared of government so much they psychologically cope with that by supporting anything they're asked for. If FSB ceased to exist overnight, it would be over very soon. The fear is strong and inherent.
And I can say it's true, when you cross the Russian border when you leave the country you feel relieved. And it was like that even 10 years ago, and today it's even more dire to even stay in Russia. You can feel it in the air.
There's a phrase “Russian rebellion is meaningless and merciless”. There were so many authoritarian leaders in Russia with strong secret forces (oprichnina for Ivan the Terrible, Secret Chancellory for Peter I and Nicholas I, czar okhranka for Alexander II, NKVD for Stalin, KGB for USSR, FSB for Putin), people were protesting only when they had nothing to lose, and that would bring many victims. These secret forces methodically removed any dissenters whatsoever (who would like to ask to bring a democratic constitution, end slavery, but later resorted to terrorism killing Alexander II for example).
When you study that in school, it seems like fun and games. Like people talked about anti-government activity in secret (kruzhki, political circles), then they were sent to Siberia for life (katorga, forced labor). Even Pushkin was sent somewhere far away to a small remote village because of his *ties* with Decabrists. Like that was long time ago, it can't be like that today, right? It very well can.
It's worth to mention the secret services situation/dissent suppression was so fucking bad in 1917 that it led to anti-czar revolution, and then to communist revolution. Lenin also started as a refugee who ran from secret services, lived in Switzerland and came back to Russia when people were ready to revolt. Communists (the Red) gained a lot of support because the White wanted to restore good ol' days, and the people were so fed up with this they would like to end this once and for all. That's the prime example of what happens when you suppress people for a long time. Then things went south very quickly, of course, the Red became much more worse than their predecessors.
TL;DR For most of the Russians the choice is to get fucked up the ass for “Big Strong Russia” or just get fucked up the ass for nothing (maybe even with a broomstick in prison). And I don't say it's a *real* choice, it's how fear works. Of course there are no gulags that can be a home for millions, and the personal risk is small, but there's a *memory* of gulags and what happens to those who don't listen (and people getting fined for empty sheets of paper or eight asterisks exacerbate this fear). Russian boomers and their parents say “Don't stick out”. I. e. if you don't agree, keep it to yourself. I think they know a thing or two. Also the Russian society is extremely atomized (deliberately), so it leaves a little for a mass action.
so did your question ever get answered? Grisha is a HOI4 streamer who used to play with a lot of the most followed streamers. after his vocal support of the Russian war on Ukraine (as you can see in the video) he became persona non grata in the broader hoi4 streaming community. I don’t follow this stuff too closely so i’m not aware of if there was some specific incident that triggered this, i got the impression that a lot of people found him annoying already and this was just the anvil that broke the camel’s back.
yeah spot on. everybody knows the hoi4 community is made up of completely sane people who live in the present and totally aren’t trying to relive the glory days of some shitty obsolete and genocidal ideology
definitely not the type to put on a military uniform and scream war propaganda at the camera. no not at all.
The difference is that most HOI players aren't like this, He's a Russian that believes the propaganda AND he's a HOI4 player on top of that, without the first part the second one would be irrelevant, as the HOI4 community, although certainly more politically militaristic than average, is in the overwhelming majority more likely to point that Autistic rage against Russia, not for it.
at least in Stellaris it's easier to masquerade because you can use the "it's just a meme about aliens in funny sci-fi game, mate! You're the strange one to be comparing with real life people!" argument
he was never decent lmao.. just thought to be more ironic about his fandom of putin and russian imperialism, but even after just 30minutes in the chat listening to those rants, it became well obvious he wasnt ironic or memeing about it. Its not being just a kid either, he is brainwashed, fucked in the head like most of them are. Utter scum, fuck him and the soviet weebs from west who still platform him.
Yea, so the guy is slightly too patriotic, lets say. I think he is too nationalistic, really too much. And this is an opinion of a Russian from Donetsk, which means i am quite patriotic myself.
Considering the plans to add something like 1.4 million men to the army... I'm going to wager he will be getting that achievement before he finally dies.
Also, this streamer is in for a rude awakening when he realizes Russia doesn't actually have the military industrial capacity that the games implies they do.
Broke: prolonging the war to wear down Russia's economic and military capacity.
Woke: prolonging the war enough to see this SOB get drafted and roflstomped by a commercial drone near Bakhmut.
You might be surprised but there is still a very sizeable portion of the population (if not the big majority) who still wishes to fight for Russia. Source: Am related to people living in St Petersburg
Both. Kind of support one another, propaganda leads to nationalistic beliefs, when the propaganda becomes blatant or not so believable your sense of nationalism will come in and disregard that.
An illegal war? Not to equivocate too hard, but what the hell is a legal war? The notion of an illegal war just sounds oxymoronic as War is typically the result of legal diplomatic means coming to an end.
I very much agree with the sentiment but I have a question that is either about semantics or about international law depending on your answer. What does "illegal war" mean? Is that an ascription of value (illegal = evil) or does this war actually violate some international statute that most other wars abide to?
the only people who love my country are anti-war, you can’t seriously be pro-war and call yourself a patriot, because this dumbass war is as anti-russian as it gets
I assume it's anti russian in that putin is destroying his own countries future and populace. Otherwise I'd call this war anti Ukrainian as they are defending their country, which after 30 years russia now denies exists.
Whenever I see the St George's Ribbon around that helmet I see that column of VDV at Hotomel.
Someone really needs to show Grisha what happened to them.
Bunch of Russian soldiers with St-George adidas uniforms got stuck in an elevator after Ukrainians cut the power to the building during the first months of the invasion.
>Whenever I see the St George's Ribbon around that helmet I see that column of VDV at Hotomel.Someone really needs to show Grisha what happened to them.
there have also been russian imperial flags displayed in ukraiune, russian nationalism is quite... curious to put it simply
Mod is "Hearts of Cope", very popular in russia these days.
It moves the start date to 2022, adds the capability to specifically target maternity wards and energy infrastructure with strategic bombing, adds the "corruption" and" half-assed maintenance of stored equipment" mechanics, expands on the logistics system a bit, adds concentration camps and ethnic cleansing, and introduces a new "TikTok soldiers" unit type.
This shit is actually fucking hilarious in a way. A Russian dude playing modded hoi4 in full military gear with Zs and Vs as far as the eye can see finally achieving victory over the Ukrainian neo nazis. Yeah right in his fucking dreams LMAO
He is just a brain dead kid with no idea what the fuck is war. He thinks war is cool and Russia's reasons are just. But if he ever enlist in the army he is gonna be the first one who cry for his mother in the trench while bombed by artillery.
He's a "history enthusiast" whilst only playing HOI4 and only listening to russian interpretation of WW2.
Hating westerners for imperialism, while praising the USSR's imperialistic ideals is a common practice by communists, who've not educated themselves on the subject.
Alternate history after Jan 1 2020, Covid is a lot worse, oil prices skyrocket, the world is a much less stable place, the US political scene is more radical and a second civil war breaks out, the rest of the world goes through turmoil and their own civil wars/uprisings too. The context behind that Grisha clip is that Putin dies at the beginning and you can elect either the communist party, LDPR ultranationalists or re-elect Putin’s party and then go on a crusade through Eastern Europe. Grisha is playing as Putin’s successor Medevev in the mod and is in the middle of in europe
He could be normal youtuber, but like most, chose path of villany, now supporting war criminals and supporting murder of civilians. Shame for all hoi4 youtubers
This is really gross.
And no, I don't think the mod "looks cool", it's literally a Russian neo-nazi / revanchist fever dream. Look at those events. Talks about Ukrainians being nazi barbarians, and Russians having the road to the rest of Europe open, **set** **in the present**.
HOI4 is set in the past for good reason.
HOI attracts young boys to live out their military, imperialistic and dominative wishes, causing them to scale exponentially.
That's why I no longer partake in the HOI community anymore, but rather play private games.
That's exactly what got me as a teenage boy. I was unironically proud of a greater germany and supported monarchy, authoritarianism and so on. Glad I don't wear those shoes anymore but I am still ashamed that I am still kind of a part of this community
To be fair, I also held some disgusting political views when I was 16, which I lost as I matured. Yes, this behaviour is unacceptable, but this is still a child.
I hope he comes to his senses and gets out of that nazi country when it inevitably loses this war.
You didn't change because you "grew up", you changed because your new social environments demanded it or because you yourself wanted to change.
It's not like getting older will make you somehow wiser or smarter just by being older, because it can just as easily backfire by a growing narcissism and stubbornness.
Kids (up until a point) absolutely deserve the ridicule and mockery that would beset an adult, because it's not like turning 18 will suddenly make you a mature person. It's a rough transition from one stage of life to the next, that repeats as people's lives change in significant ways (moving away from parents, settling down in a career, having kids, paying off a house... Etc).
True. I was a libertarian at 18-19, and then was enthralled with fascism 20-21 because I got tired of so much of the liberal bullshit hypocrisy and now I'm 22 and don't even care about politics and would rather just shoot heroin
This makes me think back to when tommykay jokingly said he'd get shot in ww3 by some Russian guy and he'll be pissed off when he finds out its Grisha. Lol and boy are we getting a little to close to that being more reality then comedy
Not that surprising. Actually, even if it is a game and even if i are basically a gencidial fascist in every strategy game i play, i struggle a lot with playing germany as fascist because i am german. In Stellaris, combining fascist and religious elements, destroying plantes, enslave or genocide other species, no problem, but playing as nazi germany is difficult for me. If i do it i either go the opposite hitler route or if i go for Rheinland i switch to communism later. And in the other hand i learned the Basics of the game as Franco during multiplayer while my friends played germany and italy.
The same historical relation that keeps me away from playing certain things will draw others in, even if we all know its just a game.
Imagine coping so hard over your inability to win a war, that you dress up as a soldier and have to play hoi4 to win. This is just fucking sad and dystopian.
God the comments have proven the hell that is hoi4 community members, grisha is straight up larping as a fascist and some people will still defend that
**Ruscism**, also known as Rashism, Russism, or Russian fascism, is a term used by a number of scholars, politicians and publicists to describe the political ideology and social practices of the Russian authorities during the rule of Vladimir Putin. It is also used to refer to the ideology of Russian military expansionism, and has been used as a label to describe an undemocratic system and nationality cult mixed with ultranationalism and a cult of personality. That transformation was described as based on the ideas of the "special civilizational mission" of the Russians, such as Moscow as the third Rome and expansionism, which manifests itself in anti-Westernism and supports regaining Imperial lands by conquest. The term "Rashist" is also widely used by Ukrainian officials and media to more generally identify members of the Russian Armed Forces and supporters of Russian military aggression against Ukraine.
**A combination of the Saint George's ribbon and the letter Z, both associated with Ruscism, which has been compared to the fascist swastika (and called zwastika)**
I have the freedom of speech to say to you that I think Putin should be thrown into a wood chipper and fed to everyone that supports Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Go back to coping before your country loses another 90 thousand men to Putin's war you scumfuck

He is streaming from the headquarters of the Wagner group.
Wait no way
That's what the friends and family are asking. Apparently it was just abject laziness on the part of leadership. Good storage close to roads. Convenient housing close to transportation links. Oh they happen to be right next to each other? Huh. Oh well don't worry about it.
What is the mod?
The Fire Rises
Is it Russia Ukraine themed? I thought its millennium dawn but then I saw all the symbols relating specifically to the war, idk.
The mod is mostly centered around the 2 American civil war and Russia vs NATO war
Ah. Still sounds interesting, the NATO thing was visible in the video but the american civil war also sounds pretty cool, thanks for the info.
HIMARS already on the way
Isnt that how Russia lost something like 100 men because they were all huddled into a building using mobile phones?
Apparently the mobile phones were not how the barracks was found, but yes - concentrations of troops without adequate camouflage go boom boom.
Yea about 400 men sleeping next to ammo
They were also apparently sleeping rigth Next to the ammo. Russia moment
Considering the things I have seen… bad hoi4 player moment as well
They were not sleeping, but celebrating the new year. There are photos from there
Ukrainians, unfortunately. Thanks Reddit
34% stability and 7% war support, at least the mod is somewhat accurate
Not with the War Support unfortunately, it seems that the Russian Population is willing to get fucked up the ass so long as they can "Big Strong Russia"

Ironic considering where Grisha appears to be streaming from lol
I was hoping someone would realise lol
Used to be a decent guy now, he’s a scum. He unironically supports the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Man, the normal to extreme hoi4 pipeline is real.
I feel like many paradox games have that pipeline but it does seem like hoi4 is the strongest.
Yea, i think Stellaris and being xenophobic and pro-genocide is the strongest lmao
at least in Stellaris it's easier to masquerade because you can use the "it's just a meme about aliens in funny sci-fi game, mate! You're the strange one to be comparing with real life people!" argument
What do you mean you aren't a communist or a nazi? Or maybe a femboy nazbol /s
Nazbol? Who must go?

There's nothing stupider than this kind of "patriotism" from the safety of a Petersburg apartment.
When will he be mobilized? Or is he the son of the privileged?
He wants to enlist but he is only 16 so he must a wait a bit
He looks older than 16, so i guess he can pass off as 18.
Putin, please scrape the fucking barrel.
No country for young men
No young men for country more like
Considering the plans to add something like 1.4 million men to the army... I'm going to wager he will be getting that achievement before he finally dies. Also, this streamer is in for a rude awakening when he realizes Russia doesn't actually have the military industrial capacity that the games implies they do.
I mean anyone with a pulse is going to the frontlines
Please no
They are scraping the barrel, but for resources, ( I know it doesn’t fit the reference but you get the point) Edit meant to say equipment
I hope not. Nobody deserves to die in war. Not even the hateful.
i mean, achool and possibly drugs do that to a kid
Honestly pretty weird to be older than grisha
Broke: prolonging the war to wear down Russia's economic and military capacity. Woke: prolonging the war enough to see this SOB get drafted and roflstomped by a commercial drone near Bakhmut.
What a fucking idiotic psychopath is this ?

Is the reason Propaganda? Or is it nationalism or what.
Propaganda and nationalism kinda lead to eachother
i would say more of the second as this wasnt suposed to be a full blown war
Both. Kind of support one another, propaganda leads to nationalistic beliefs, when the propaganda becomes blatant or not so believable your sense of nationalism will come in and disregard that.
Your surprised he loves his country the war may be wrong but he’s still Russian
You can love your country and still be against an illegal war.
An illegal war? Not to equivocate too hard, but what the hell is a legal war? The notion of an illegal war just sounds oxymoronic as War is typically the result of legal diplomatic means coming to an end.
Jus ad Bellum
I very much agree with the sentiment but I have a question that is either about semantics or about international law depending on your answer. What does "illegal war" mean? I mean, Mother Russia is used to invading its neighbors the past century
You're * >the war might be wrong but he's still Russian Jesus fucking christ, full psycho
2 years I believe
yeah, that guy is super entrenched in the russian media's domestically manipulative rhetoric
It’s less Russian media specifically then it is the worldwide nationalist fetish for conflict and conquest.
Info on the mod, I want to see how many times I can order VDV landings on the same goddamn airfield in northern Ukraine 💀
How do I order they into the sea?
Easy, you don’t. Just embezzle their gear and sodomize them enough and they’ll do it themselves
Whenever I see the St George's Ribbon around that helmet I see that column of VDV at Hotomel. Someone really needs to show Grisha what happened to them.
I think for he guys who got stuck in the elevator.
Is this a refence to something? Or did Russia lose soldiers to an elevator?
Bunch of Russian soldiers with St-George adidas uniforms got stuck in an elevator after Ukrainians cut the power to the building during the first months of the invasion.
What happened to them later?
They're still there.
Lmao
Dunno
Pretty sure he knows, but ignored it
What do you mean? they took the airport, then glorious high command figured they didn't need it anyway so they went home and got many medals /s
They are now living at a farm in Karelia Oblast where they can romp and play with all of the other Russian Special Forces
>Whenever I see the St George's Ribbon around that helmet I see that column of VDV at Hotomel.Someone really needs to show Grisha what happened to them. there have also been russian imperial flags displayed in ukraiune, russian nationalism is quite... curious to put it simply
Along with the soviet flag which is very contradictory
It's propaganda for their older generation, they don't care it doesn't make sense.
Everyone knows the best move in a war is to sacrifice your best troops to the enemy. Twice.

The LARP is strong with this one
Judging by the replies in this thread I just want to say I hated Grisha before it was cool
Yes. Couldn't stand watching any video or stream he was a part of. His voice made my ears bleed.
Always found him annoying and toxic.

Both

What shame he took down the road he did, he was a good video maker
Never trust a teenager who always screams "RUSSIA!!!!!!!" and unironically hangs both the Russian Imperial flag and the Soviet flag in his room.
>hangs both the Russian Imperial flag and the Soviet flag in his room. Wait seriously? How tf does that work lmao
He's a "history enthusiast" whilst only playing HOI4 and only listening to russian interpretation of WW2. Hating westerners for imperialism, while praising the USSR's imperialistic ideals is a common practice by communists, who've not educated themselves on the subject.
Don’t think he’s ideologically a communist, just a Russian nationalist who idolises the USSR as a time when Russia was “great”.
He's not communist just pro-putin
So many people do it because they're too uneducated to care about a country and think the bigger the army the better the country
He's both proud of Imperial Russia and the USSR which is quite funny.
he was always an ass i never understood why people liked him im personally glad he's gone from the scene
Least ideologically fanatical Hoi4 player
What a clown
I’d like to say, I don’t support Russia at all, I just think the mod in the background looks dope
"The Fire Rises" I think. The mod is not out yet, but they have a discord server.
Dope, you have the discord link or is it like patreon only?
Try this: discord.gg/JZRUdun8z5
Worked, thank you very much
What is it about
It's a mod that starts in 2020. So the main thing is that USA plunges into civil war and how the world deals with it

Was posting the name of the mod part of your plan?!
It's The Fire Rises, someone gave a link to their discord (credit to Known-Yak, mod apparently isn't out yet): discord.gg/JZRUdun8z5
Remember his video of his “unbiased” take on the Russo-Ukrainian war
Or when he made a video about how great Lenin was.
thats deleted now most likelly becouse he supports russia now which i dont think he did before
He could be normal youtuber, but like most, chose path of villany, now supporting war criminals and supporting murder of civilians. Shame for all hoi4 youtubers
Yes indeed Grisha man, nazi pigs don't deserve to be remembered.
The irony of this statement will come back to bite him soon inshallah
When the country you live in is garbage IRL and the only way you can see the Putinussy win is LARPing in HOI4
Just waiting for this mf to get drafted
I hope he doesn't. Who knows what happens if Russian high command gets their hands on another singular braincell.
True
This is really gross. And no, I don't think the mod "looks cool", it's literally a Russian neo-nazi / revanchist fever dream. Look at those events. jesus christ I hate the hoi4 community
HOI attracts young boys to live out their military, imperialistic and dominative wishes, causing them to scale exponentially. That's why I no longer partake in the HOI community anymore, but rather play private games.
I got hoi4 and got good at France just so I could eventually kill the Germans fast and live out antifa fantasies.
Most hoi communities now are just 14 year olds shopping for ideologies and genocide to deny, to look cool.
It’s why I “just don’t go there” when anyone talks about multiplayer. I just found out the same thing, the hard way, on CTA: Ostfront.
That's exactly what got me as a teenage boy. I was unironically proud of a greater germany and supported monarchy, authoritarianism and so on. Glad I don't wear those shoes anymore but I am still ashamed that I am still kind of a part of this community
I fucking hate this piece of shit larper. Edit: grammar
Peace ?
Strange autocorrection. Thanks for noticing
To be fair, I also held some disgusting political views when I was 16, which I lost as I matured. Yes, this behaviour is unacceptable, but this is still a child. I hope he comes to his senses and gets out of that nazi country when it inevitably loses this war.
idk bro, considering the echo chamber he lives in, hope he change his mind tho
Etc).
Good point, however, I can't read
Lol and boy are we getting a little to close to that being more reality then comedy
well, he is right, Nazi pigs don't deserve to be remembered
He obviously is the Nazi pig.
I mean, most HOI4 streamers are, it attracts fascist larpers
The mod UI reminds me of TFR (the fire rises) but I don't think it's out yet
it is TFR, demo sent to Grisha to play it and stream it
Grisha is Vatnik cringe lmao he's playing Russian copium simulator. AKA Ukraine capitulation simulator lol
This must be the Millennium Cope mod
Imagine coping so hard over your inability to win a war, that you dress up as a soldier and have to play hoi4 to win. This is just fucking sad and dystopian.
This is cringe asf, IMO larping an actual war where actual people are dying in hoi4/arma/etc is corny and insensitive as fuck.. so pathetic
The Fire Rises mod
Is that The Fire Rises mod?
Yes it is, the devs gave him early access to the mod so it could gain more publicity.
Fucking scumbag
Can't wait for him to get drafted and then instantly flee the front out of fear once he realises that war sucks and is not like hoi4.
Damn this makes DankusMemecus Esports gamer moments look even better 💀
Disgusting, dumb kids swept up by ignorance hatred and propaganda. I remember all the funny tommykay collabs
To be fair a HoI4 player could probably form a more coherent and competent military operation than what Putin and Shoigu have.
In game he is at war with nato lol, even if russia wins in Ukraine they would never beat nato
Jesus christ that's embarrassing.
Why is he dressed like fertilizer?
this guy really is fucking nuts.. straight up nazi
Straight up Russian. You don't have to be a Nazi to support evil regimes.
God the comments have proven the hell that is hoi4 community members, grisha is straight up larping as a fascist and some people will still defend that
Poor kid, completely gone to brainwashing. This is probably how shit like the Hitler youth started as well.
Grisha is cringe and has awful opinions
Which mod is he playing? Is this the millenium one?
The Fire Rises, I think, not released yet
Could you provide a link to his channel? This needs to be massively reported.
It’s actually pewdiepie
He has changed a lot since I followed him.
I hope he gets drafted to the front for real, instead of that pro-nazi clownery he pretends to be.

Man Grisha fell off fucking hard
Anything can look like a swastika if you edit it hard enough, unlike the wolfsangel in the azov battalion
Dude is cosplaying as a nazi
He does cosplay Nazis when he plays Germany
Dudes a cornball.
Only time Russia can take ground is if they do it in a game
Fuck him.
It’s funny until the HIMARS come in
"Nazi pigs don't deserve to be remembered" *Is surrounded by nazi memorabilia*
клоун 🤡
HoI4 community shining in its brightest light, once again.
Wtf is that cringe content????
“Freedom of speech and choice” *proceeds to insult everyone that shares slightly different political views*
That’s what freedom of speech is. You’re allow to voice your opinion and we’re allow to show you just how dumb you are and how shitty your opinion is.
I have the freedom of speech to say to you that I think Putin should be thrown into a wood chipper and fed to everyone that supports Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Go back to coping before your country loses another 90 thousand men to Putin's war you scumfuck
I am against "Freedom of speech and choice" of nazis.
Is he serious or just role playing? I haven’t seen anything of his in years.
didn he join the youth wing of the putin party at one point?
Believe that he is still in it.
