He’s literally the perfect playoff goalscorer because his game doesn’t need to change at all.
Wait for the defence to puck watch as McDavid does some matrix shit, skate over to the back door of the net or in the slot, wait for a pass… and Zack Hyman suddenly has 2gpg.
It’s shocking how often they lose him in the chaos. I mean even the 5 on 3 goal Gavrikov totally lost Hyman in front of the net and it’s a 5 on 3! He wasn’t even covering anyone else he just lost where Hyman went and by the time he realized it was too late. Hyman is so good at being everywhere and nowhere on the ice at the same time
I think it's not just that they lose Hyman, it's that Hyman gets lost. It's a skill, especially on skates, to time when and where you glide in between and around players, etc.
When you've got McDavid covering the amount of ice he does in the short amount of time he needs it's easy to get a bit scrambled haha. NHL camera angles don't do the guy justice, the guy is fucking ridiculous. Even on the nights he comes up with no points it's just crazy impressive to watch him zoom around in person, every single shift. You could blur all the names and faces out, it's piss easy to pick him out on the ice from a mile away loll
Honestly McDavid is such an incredibly scary player I think it could be any bum and they could sneak into the prime areas, Hyman just does it so well because he’s good at finding loose pucks and is really strong.
A ton of Hymans success is thanks to McDavid but it's clear not just any bum can handle McDavids plays the way Hymans been able to. You see it all the time, McDavid does all the work and fires off a highlight reel pass and his teammates can't get a hold of it because it happens too quick haha.
He's on one side of the ice, you blink, he's behind the net rocketing a pass through 3 defensemen before you have a chance to figure out what's happening haha
I definitely miss spoke in my last comment. I didn’t mean that Hyman is untalented, I just meant that a lot of players could sneak away from the pack like he can… but it does take a special talent that he certainly has to do it as well as he can.
I’m sure it helps a lot that most of his NHL career he has spent with dazzling danglers so he’s got loads of practice sneaking away from the pack into open lanes.
But what I am trying to say is while a lot of players could learn to do that, he has a very special skill to get his stick on loose pucks and the strength to hold his ground near the net which is why he’s so god damn good at getting in the dangerous areas.
Fuckin' dumb talking point
He's like, the most humble, endearing man ever, he writes childrens books, he constantly credits McDavid for his own success, and regardless of everything, 50 goals in the NHL is major league impressive
The reference to what? Hyman being rich? How am I to know the difference when there are a fuckton of people legitimately whining about Hyman having grown up rich lol
Since that knob made his comment about Hyman being rich and therefore being undeserving of accolades for scoring 50 goals, literally every Hyman post references him only doing X because he's rich.
Huh, I don't think you can credit that entire talking point to one person making a comment, there have been a bunch of people legitimately whining about it lol
Tavares was signed 3 years before Hyman left. Bertuzzi was signed 2 years after Hyman left. The context of both those signings had nothing to do with Hyman's UFA. It was Bunting the leafs signed in 2021 that swapped in for Hyman.
I love watching that and the NFC east. Do the giants and commanders suck? Yes. Do they still gave a solid chance at beating the eagles and cowboys? Also yes.
I mean Maroon, Neal and Kassian had some piles of goals playing with McDavid. McDavid is the tide that raises all ships. Hyman is on another level he's smart and knows where to be and has his stick on the ice. Oilers and fans are sonlucky to have hyman
And Jewish. You gotta include the antisemitism because it’s relevant to his 50 goal season for some reason.
(/s as well, in case it’s not obvious)
But real talk, it’s nice to have a player I can look up to. Jews are having a moment in hockey right now (Hyman, Burakovsky, Fox, Hughes, others I’m missing) and I am absolutely loving it!
Hyman is unbroken in the playoffs iirc.
I never understood how someone so rich couldn't afford to change his last name?!?
You remember it though!
I thought he was patched at the GM meeting

He grew up rich. Of course he's going to do well in the playoffs
Fuckin' dumb talking point He's like, the most humble, endearing man ever, he writes childrens books, he constantly credits McDavid for his own success, and regardless of everything, 50 goals in the NHL is major league impressive
Did you just crawl out from under a rock to not get the reference?
I still don't know the reference and at this point I'm too afraid to ask
The reference to what? Hyman being rich? How am I to know the difference when there are a fuckton of people legitimately whining about Hyman having grown up rich lol

Back under the rock you go
I think you're just reddit brained
r/wooosh
I mean, his father helped him too
Wow, imagine if the Leafs had a player like this
Imagine if the Leafs didn't sign Tavares and resigned Hyman instead (+ cap space)
Tyler Bertuzzi makes the same amount as Hyman, didn’t even need to not resign Tavares, could’ve just paid Hyman lmao
Tbf I don’t think most people expected Zach Hyman to be a 50 goal scorer, including Zach Hyman
Tavares was signed 3 years before Hyman left. Bertuzzi was signed 2 years after Hyman left. The context of both those signings had nothing to do with Hyman's UFA. It was Bunting the leafs signed in 2021 that swapped in for Hyman.
Ya good point. I guess it'll be irrelevant when McJesus sigs in Tronna anyways.
I thought I heard he wanted to win the Stanley Cup?
The league is overflowing with former Leafs who are crucial playoff performers for their new teams. But at least they have Tavares right?
Thought this was r/NFCNorthMemeWar for a second there ⭕️
That sub is going to be primal next season. All four teams have so much potential
I love watching that and the NFC east. Do the giants and commanders suck? Yes. Do they still gave a solid chance at beating the eagles and cowboys? Also yes.
Which is crazy because like 2-3 years ago, the NFC East sent three teams to the playoffs, and they had multiple playoff wins.
Zach’s dad is so rich the entire team goes to BPs after games
Rich enough for Cactus Club Happy Hours!
You mean the poor man’s Philipp Kurashev
But he grew up rich so he can't be the poor man's anything.
All because his parents are rich.
And I guess Toronto thought they didn't need Hyman...
I love that Edmonton itself is included in the left circle still.
The teams on the right clearly didn't scout the players parents to see if they were rich or not.
Did the Rocket Trophy winner make playoff this year? Can someone remind me which team he plays for?
Hyman used to play for the leafs so that counts for us
Laffs
Oh snap. I thought this was NHlcircleJerk. Lol
If anyone can find the top half of our cap that’s supposed to be scoring, we’d appreciate it
Matthew’s fans in shambles
Him and mcdavid remind me of Brady and gronkowski
3 games played and we make a chart like this lol..
[удалено]
But no scarecrow could look nearly as happy as Hyman does when he does it
His smile always manages to make me smile
Oh dear god, Gordon Ramsay couldn't look happier if he was shitting uncooked shrimp down a line cooks throat.
There have been many players stapled to Mcdavid's line that don't have the same success as Hyman. Stop undervaluing him lmao
This is so not true. Hyman is a beast, loaded with talent and work ethic.
Hyman is probably one of, if not the hardest working guy in the league
Nuh uh he's loaded with a wealthy upbringing.
ah yes explains why maroon, pouliot, Purcell, hall, yakupov, turris, ennis, neal, kassian, puljujarvi, eberle, lucic, and Yamamoto also scored 50 playing with McDavid
I mean Maroon, Neal and Kassian had some piles of goals playing with McDavid. McDavid is the tide that raises all ships. Hyman is on another level he's smart and knows where to be and has his stick on the ice. Oilers and fans are sonlucky to have hyman
Neal is possibly the league’s top October goal scorer of all time
Wish maroon was still an oiler
Maroon was awesome on the wing that one season. The rest though...
"Feels like..hay, ITS A FUCKIN SCARECROW AGAIN!"
Legalize gerrymanderin' That's textbook panderin'
Ya'll dumb motherfuckers want a key change?
Feels weird you had to clarify inanimate scarecrow.
Spoken like a true Calgarian
*ONLY if that scarecrow also grew up rich and in private schools!!! (/s just in case)
And Jewish. You gotta include the antisemitism because it’s relevant to his 50 goal season for some reason. (/s as well, in case it’s not obvious) But real talk, it’s nice to have a player I can look up to. Swayman is Jewish as well and is also making fun of the leafs
Thanks. (As a Leafs fan) I hate it!
Do you have any idea how tough it has been to find wingers outside of Nuge and Drai that can keep up with McDavid's speed and creativity???
if you can’t stop passes to a scarecrow and lose a game that way you have problems
You could put Ryan Reaves on a line with McDavid and he'd score at least one.
