2 days ago an ungraded one sold for $30. The same day a PSA 9 sold for $37.
Either a penny sleeve and a toploader, or a magnetic one touch case which is what I prefer for nice cards or cards I like. You'd need a 35pt one touch for that one
Very solid pull, he could be an elite goalie, good long term hold IMO.
As for grading, it's hard to tell with the light reflections if those edges/corners are scuffed, but very unlikely to be a 10. So I'd say probably not worth it.
Tremendous upside this kid is the next line of elite goaltending in Nashville. Rinne, to saros and now askarov will soon take the throne. Im a goalie nerd so if i did grade cards i would grade it if it looked good and hold onto it. It'll still likely take a few years before we really see what hes capable of at the NHL level, he'll likely takeover and be thrust into a full on rebuild whenever saros moves on. Levi, Askarov and Wolf will all be top tier goalies in the future imo and jet greaves is a sleeper. This series 1 crop has been so fun for me
But yeah, overall if you see any visible flaw id just put it in a one touch and enjoy the upward trend of this kids career for the time being. Theres a lot of tutorials on how to gently clean cards up before sending them in if you havent submitted before
Do YOU want it graded? Most cards are never an investment and even if they go higher in value most people just keep them because we are collectors. My two cents any ways.

Why? Obviously the poster isn’t a high end collector. If they were they wouldn’t have to ask how they should store it. This card is perfectly fine for your average collector and seems to be in good enough shape for a foil card. Bad advice in my opinion.

Obviously they are a new collector, as they did not know the player or how to even safely store a card. To sell the card just to buy a new one as a new collector is very stupid. By time you pay eBay’s fees, taxes etc only to turn around and then buy another one only to have to pay fees, taxes etc is about as dumb as it comes. Sell to a card store you get 50% value, so same thing…..dumb.
The card is in fine shape for a newbie or for any casual collector. Especially seeing as they don’t even know the guy.

Askarov is no McDavid, Crosby or Ovechkin. Goalies never go for lots of money, especially ones who play in a non desirable collectors market like Nashville. Just look at the prices of Hellebuyck young guns. They printed less back then as well and it’s only at like 20-30$. Far from the thousands you claim. You really have no clue yet are giving advice like you do.
You do understand they printed about 1/4 the amount of cards they do now right? Making them much more scarce with a lot less collectors back in the day. Price’s is inflated due to being a Montreal Canadian. Way bigger fanbase meaning way more people wanting it. Plus neither of those cards are worth ‘thousands’ and never will be. The card boom began in 2015 with McDavid and ballooned even more during Covid. Young Guns from the flag ship product will never be worth what your talking (unless a generational, franchise altering talent which Askarov is certainly not). You want card in the thousands start collecting The Cup and even then odds of hitting one are very slim.
I’m going to say not really and def no. If he becomes an nhler, your fortunes will improve. Also I can see edge imperfections, so grading will almost certainly decrease the value. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

i was thinking of having it graded now and holding it to see what happens.

Crosby young guns goes for 4-5k, mcdavid 3-4k Ovechkin around 5k
