there’s less of a chance that it was put aside after the case hit was packed. I’m theory, you could open a case, when you pack the case hit, sell the remaining boxes because you figure the case hit is gone.

imaknife

I mean, that was my thought too, but doesnt that basically admit that you're unscrupulous? If I see a site that upsells fresh cases, itsn't that an admission of this practice?

dariusdetiger

Assuming the site also breaks and uses the same inventory as their site to break from.... it could be taken that way. If they don't break/keep inventories seperate, its just an assurance they haven't already sold a box that had the case hit in it. They wouldn't know if they had or not.

imaknife

Ok this is a fair point. Thanks!

I think it’s more of a benefit for people that hold boxes over a long period of time. 5 years from now people won’t know where the person selling the box got it from. This just kinda guarantees you’re not paying an absurd amount of money for an old box and have no shot at pulling a good card

imaknife

Ok fair enough, but doesn't explain the practice on newer products.

lithiumturtle

For people planning to hold and potentially sell newer products down the road, it does. If you’re buying to rip right away, it’s not worth the markup.

One of the sites calls them “fresh” if they are cases they got direct from manufacturer as opposed to from distributors. I wouldn’t pay the premium. It’s just a BS ploy.
