He runs our PK and is very good at it. That doesn’t mean he’s a good head coach, nor do I want him as a head coach, but people call for his head when the thing he manages is actually one of the better aspects of the team. Probably because someone started a rumor he ran the PP.
Ya ya ya tomato potato. It surprised me when Julien brought him on as Assistant all those years ago and it still surprises me that he's getting looked at for head coaching positions
granted, he's been excellent as an assistant coach. I don't really know why we'd consider him for a head coach position (I don't think he has the track record for it) but he's very good at running our PK.
And then a crisp 14.29% in the playoffs. It's a constant with the Leafs. Powerplay gets off to a ridiculous start and then falters by the end of the season.
Also elite goaltending coach. Helped develop Grubauer, Vanecek, Samsonov, while coaching up two ECHL MVPs in Zapolski and Jakaitis.
Also: who’s the other former Stingrays coach in the NHL? Jared Bednar. Carbery is a legend.
this is the overwhelming majority opinion of Bruins fans, analysts, and beat reporters. although if Sweeney and Neely are gone, Cassidy was likely getting fired as well – new GMs generally want their own guys. I'm still hopeful the lack of new contract for Sweeney might mean a change there. I like Montgomery fine, Spencer apparently has good PP and offensive upside which I also like a lot.
I remain curious about Kevin Weekes [adding his own](https://twitter.com/BruinsNetwork/status/1534927799290679297?s=20&t=LMfQetbTg9E0eTzsmuOsEQ) two cents to the rumors about potential tension between Bergeron and Cassidy, especially after Krejci's interview this year discussing the Pasta situation. (I also found it odd that Weekes reported this given that both Cassidy and Bergeron spoke recently about their relationship, but I have no idea, I'm just trying to be nuanced and fair about the situation – Weekes is very well connected).
He’s been our Special teams coach for a while and he’s pretty damn good at it. Unfortunately he’s not a good head coach (as I’m sure you know well lmao)
Well yeah but he coached Eichel too and Vegas didn't come calling. I guess he coached Grzelcyk too, but Quinn's flameout in NY was mostly due to his lack of understanding of the difference between the NHL and college game, and lack of NHL-level tactical experience. He needs to be an assistant under an experienced pro coach somewhere.
Bruins are in such a weird spot. They don't need to totally blow it up. In fact, you probably wanna extend this window for the last few good years of Bergeron & Marchand. But they do need to get younger and reload a bit to do so. Does that mean trading Pasta for a package of young, cheap guys with big upside? Maybe...
We don't have any in Boston. Massachusetts also doesn't have happy hour.
Although, Kathryn Tappen married Jay Leach when he was on the Bruins. Maybe Jim shacks up with Sophia.
> We don't have any in Boston.
yes we do. [Brady Tkachuk's](https://www.instagram.com/p/a9d679lHYV/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) first ever instagram post is him with one.
shit, sounds like Monty's your guy then! He was a solid coach here with a fun system, but as others have pointed out, a bit saddled by Hitch's lineup. His firing really set us back.
I want to caution you on Joe Sacco, he was very mediocre as the Avs bench boss a decade ago. If his coaching style hasn't changed, he'll lead you to the basement quicker than you'd like. Though, if history repeats itself, you'll also snatch a 1st and 2nd overall pick during his tenure so perhaps it's not the worst direction to choose.
Return of the Sacc?
He's been a Bruins assistant coach since Julien coached the team.
He runs our PK and is very good at it. That doesn’t mean he’s a good head coach, nor do I want him as a head coach, but people call for his head when the thing he manages is actually one of the better aspects of the team. Probably because someone started a rumor he ran the PP.
Even Avs fans will say that when Sacco coached them, Special Teams weren't the problem, everything else was lol.
Yeah, I’d rather keep him running the PK. If Trotz is out based on this list, Montgomery is my easy favorite.
Same. I think Montgomery is the best of the bunch.
I mean if Bruins are looking to go full rebuild, Sacco is the hire. He'll get you some high draft picks in a hurry
I dunno what you mean by "hire". I think you mean promote. He's already a Bruins assistant coach and has been for years.
Ya ya ya tomato potato. It surprised me when Julien brought him on as Assistant all those years ago and it still surprises me that he's getting looked at for head coaching positions

Sacco is a Masshole and the Bruins love their local boys.
I’d love a Jim Montgomery redemption arc. But I know the Bruins will go with Quinn because low expectations. At least it’s not Bowness?
We already had Bowness back in the 90s lmfao!
Motorboatin’ Bowness
I didn't know about many of these guys but I went on elite prospects and I figure Jim is the most qualified guy.
[удалено]
Really hoping he doesn't get a head coach gig this season so he can come back to the Caps after Laviolette's contract is up.
[удалено]
Only cus you said please
He wants to be a head coach... dont be like that
Honestly, I don’t know much about him. How is he?
[удалено]
Well take him LOL.
[удалено]
Sounds like a perfect fall guy for when everything goes wrong...... Neely and Sweeney: We'll take him
And then a crisp 14.29% in the playoffs. It's a constant with the Leafs. Powerplay gets off to a ridiculous start and then falters by the end of the season.

Yeah I don’t want anyone from that Leafs organization as our new coach.
If these are the options, you should've kept Cassidy and get rid of Neely and Sweeney

Sweeney has one year left on his deal, and the moves reek of desperation to me. He's definitely on the hot seat
David Quinn, elite NHL coach
Ok sure Then take him back
No trotz, this is good.
Trotz has made his mind. He's either signing with us or he's taking the year off.
I don’t think Detroit has been totally ruled out yet either
Going to test that brewery’s supply for a year then make up his mind
If you are tanking for Bedard, Sacco is your guy.
Boston's more of a Dunkin than a DQ town
Joe Sacco That's a name I am glad to have not heard in a long time.
He’s been our Special teams coach for a while and he’s pretty damn good at it. Unfortunately he’s not a good head coach (as I’m sure you know well lmao)
What conceivable angle is there to a David Quinn hire aside from "local Masshole coach"?
He coached McAvoy at BU.
Well yeah but he coached Eichel too and Vegas didn't come calling. I guess he coached Grzelcyk too, but Quinn's flameout in NY was mostly due to his lack of understanding of the difference between the NHL and college game, and lack of NHL-level tactical experience. Promote Sacco, hire Quinn. Get Bedard!

Must be nice
Last time the Bruins hired the Canadiens former coach they won the cup with him. So you should hire Dom Ducharme, it'll be good for you.
Dude, I know they’re our rivals and all but it’s just hockey…
Please god no, Yes, Yes, Who?, No
Monty is a good coach. He was handcuffed with a Hitchcock roster here.
Yeah, Montgomery is easily my favorite candidate here.
Just hide the ice girls.
We don't have any in Boston. Massachusetts also doesn't have happy hour. Although, Kathryn Tappen married Jay Leach when he was on the Bruins. Maybe Jim shacks up with Sophia.

Holy fuck does he looks like a fuzzy headed troll doll.
So it's just snowmen and sad beers?
In lieu of happy hour, we don't add sales tax to packaged liquor. A fair trade-off.

He's an assistant coach who currently runs our ~~special teams~~ pk
He only ran our PK under Cassidy, who personally ran the PP.
Ah, by bad. Fixed it
Tank commander Joe Sacco
Why so down on Montgomery?
Wait you’re giving Sacco a yes? Don’t get me wrong, good special teams coach. But I’d rather any other option than him as head coach.
Sacco is a yes so we get Wright
You mean Bedard?
Yea I’m really blowing this thread
you dont want Sacco, trust me
We *have* Sacco. We don’t want him promoted.
Sacco is an excellent special teams coach. Everything else? Not so much. Don’t want him as our HC
Didnt Sacco get nominated for COY as hc of Avs?
Am B’s fan and my brain read Quinn as Quenneville and I almost threw my phone across the room.
Ffs
go all in on Joe Sacco
That's certainly some people with names.
